Meg said:ah SE1. oh st.thomas moore hospital! Thats right across from London Bridge. I see it sometimes when i'm crossing the bridge or getting my starbucks from the little cart down there. The thing is you have to realize that for the most part London isn't laid out like it is in the states. You will find bits where it is like that in Notting Hill (like ledbury road etc.) or in W1, St.Christophers Place (a little side street of oxford st. right by Selfridges) and then carrying on down towards Oxford Circus sounds like what you want. Also since you will be basically on the Southbank I would suggest going to St.Gabriels Wharf which is closer to the waterloo end of the southbank and there are lots of shops around there as well. quite small cute boutique-y stuff depending on your taste. Other than that, there isn't too much in SE1 to be fair....the easiest way for you to get to central london will be to take the train from london bridge to charing cross and just walk up from there or else the jubilee line to green park and then walk up through mayfair (always a lovely walk and you can check out dover st. market along the way) to oxford st. and st.christopher's place etc. you may also enjoy tottenham court road area and covent garden. Actually covent garden is your best bet methinks. Sorry for the long rambly post!
ohhh, thanks meg! no need to apologize, I
