London shopping

Can you? I'm not sure it's available here. Why not just order from her website? Maybe Kabiri though on Marylebone High St. They have a website.

PoC maybe we passed each other? I stupidly (and contrary to what I posted in another thread) ended up on Oxford St. and Selfridges on a Saturday which was just hellish. argh it's just like mayhem.

Absolutely, Oxford St. is a complete nightmare. Shopping in London as a pedestrian, you have to wade through so much crap.

Hey guys i'm in London now for a while, and saw some mid-season sales cropping up or already in full swing, anyone see any boutiques or anything with sales (as in specific boutique names/stores)?

um nowhere?! Sorry but it's either vintage or high street if you want cheap. Maybe you are talking about one of a kind or small independent designers? The problem is a lot of indie designers are not that cheap. And their studios are all over the place. Some are in Hoxton, others are more W1 area....maybe you could be a bit more specific about what you want?

Relatively cheap!..sorry I was very vague. I don't really know, Are places like camden market, etc. relatively inexpensive?
I'm looking for anything along the lines of h&m and topshop really..if there is anything like that..

what about skinny jeans? where can i find some? doesnt matter if designer brands or no-names...
does anyone has good addresses? :flower:

UO is a good suggestion. Personally I don't like Camden for shopping. It's just a bunch of very contrived looking 'punk' clothing. Portobello Road might be a better bet for that sort of thing or else I would suggest covent garden.

fairy - you can find skinny jeans anyway. Zara, Topshop, H&M, small boutiques, anywhere in central london.

Does anyone know where I can get some nice long gloves? High-street esque prices please.

:flower:
primarks?
its an awful shop because so many people are in there :innocent:
but its all very cheap there, and they do runway trends etc
how its so cheap nobody knows :ninja:
there is a primark thread somewhere, I believe susie_bubble got an awsome dress for £2 was it? and someone else got some louboutin knock offs for £15...

I'm going to London next week but only for 4 days, so I don't have a lot of time for shopping because a friend who is coming has never been to London and we have to show him the city. I'm more interested in cheap vintage (or with reasonable price) than in High street.
I've read this thread and in I'll put in my list Portobello in friday or saturday (last time I went there a wrong day and I was a bit dissapointed), then some shops near Brick Lane and Petticoat Lane market. But any advice will be welcomed:flower:

I just purchased tickets to a trip in the beginning of December. :woot:
- I've never been there before so I've read the entire thread and I got an idea on where to go now... ^_^
Though could someone tell me where to get Karen Walker, Camilla Stærk, Peter Jensen, Jessica Ogden, Emma Cook, Jens Laugesen, etc. - Don't remember if it was mentioned
Anybody? , Susie :innocent:

Also is Portobello worth anything in the middle of the week, does it even exist there?

Portobello Green is there during the week and there are stalls there as far as I'm aware. You can get every single one of those brands (except maybe Jens Laugesen) at Selfridges. No lie. Third floor. You could also try B Store (Savile Row), No One (Hoxton) and Liberty.

As much as I agree with Meg about the contrived punk shops in camden, the 2 to 10 pound shop (which has an actual name, that I'll never remember), in the stables is pretty legendary. Its basically a Rokit outlet shop, with all the things that have been rejected from the shop on the high st (which IMO is ridiculously overpriced), which means you do have to wade through a bit of rubbish but there are some gems. Often too, the same dress as from the main shop with perhaps a very slightly different design will be in there for like 1/3 of the price.
Also in Camden is a tiny little shop I only just discovered, called Betty's or something. It's just before the stables and used to only sell vintage (and some weird vintage inspired) accessories, but it's branching out into clothes. Thats great because it means they have a really small, but well chosen selection and you don't have to search for anything. In most vintage shops, I usually find that means the garments can be a little pricey but of this place it's completely untrue, with more reasonable prices than I've found in Rokit, Beyond Retro or any of the large shops. A few weeks ago I bought a beautiful grey/silver silk (great quality too, as my seamstress friend pointed out) shift dress for £12. To top it all off, the man who runs it was lovely and gave us all a few quid of everything we bought.

In terms of Brick Lane, I would mention the pound bin in Beyond Retro but I haven't been for so long I don't even know whether it exists, let alone is as fantastic as it first was. Also, its not cheap, but theres a shop called The Lazy Ones which is just left off Brick Lane if you were walking in the Bethnal Green direction. It can get forgotten, but the selection is really lovely and so is, again, the bloke who runs it. He made me a bag with a specific design, because they hadn't got it!

Oooh god, sorry for going on so long! But really, up until about 6 months or so ago cheap vintage was a bit of an obsession  :p Hope some of it helps! :flower:
