Louis Vuitton S/S 2009 : Madonna by Steven Meisel

I love the composition and the colours. I don't care for Madonna's music much myself - but as a person, she is just fantastic. How long has she been at it now?!!!

And I agree with 'Wednesdays Child' - the shoes are amazing!

i like it, but my issue is.... if it wasn't for Madonna, HOW would that ad POP in a magazine?

you may not like M&M's work, but their over-saturated colors made the ads so distinct. when you'd fly over a magazine at the newsstand, those colors would stick out like a sore thumb and you'd go back, thinking "wait, what was that red?".

IMO this is too muted.

I like it but compared to Mert&Marcus, this campaign is pretty boring.

The collection was so incredibly interesting. They really could have made this an iconic campaign.

And as much as I love Meisel, I think his aesthetic is a little far from what I like to associate with Louis Vuitton. The muted colour palette is a bit disappointing - I was expecting something really vibrant.

I think the sobriety/somberness works better for these particular ads than the usual bright bold colors would.

^ me too actually. The bright colours would be too much for the irises to be honest. I really like the smoky/dirty effect of it ....

i thought they would have played up a bit more, and i am not talking about the colours.

but i think this is quite expected.

to add on a bit more. I love the look that madonna is giving in the second shot (not really feeling about her leg's up pose), her face screams POWER. very fierce, i can't believe i am saying that  because like everyone else i have seen pictures of madonna looking bad before.

i can't wait to see the rest of the shots. this season some major campaign previews are coming in quite fast... what a teaser.

Modonna rocks it!!!! the outcome is absolutely interesting.

I miss the Vibrant colours this season. But the ads look great :woot:
I hope Madonna doesn't do any more aerobics moves in any other shot :ninja:

these 2 pics look so fake:doh:...sorry mr meisel...and her pose in the first one is just....stupid...:ninja:

Not impressed by the campaign but the shots look cinematic though, I think if you were to use an icon like Madonna, you should use her in a way that she is instantly recognisable and she doesn't really look like herself in the shots imo.

I do think Meisel should play up with the angles a bit more, the shots would look boring and monotonous over time. Maybe we should give more time to Meisel to adjust to LV, but as of now I still prefer M&M's celebrity ads for LV than Meisel's :flower:

No, that doesnt work, somehow. I feel like there's no energy in these. That runway show was such a blast, but the ads are so muted and still. With all these fringes and pearls they should have done some movement.
Madonna is all wrong for that. I think they used her to give the clothes and old look, so they would appeal to the usual LV customer.

I agree, the runway show itself mesmerised us more than the Madonna ads.

Whatever people say Madge is the most interesting and sensational celebrity! Well Done!

I second that!^_^ Madonna looks boring & old. What happen to the 'empowering' her? Even the bags look dull. That was not the case during the show.

well, perhaps we should wait for the finished product. there's always magic in editing. *crossing-finger* :p
