The same way some designers design/style looks to cater to what photographs best, the same ethos is applied to models at show. Only a small population actually watch shows, an even smaller amount attend the shows, most look at it shows through static images so most don't see a model's walk. The casting directors are casting with social media in mind - which girls are popular and will get posted after the show, by association getting the brand shared more.
I missed out on the days of the magnificent girls that turned runways into stages, when a model's walk mattered. The shows themselves were more elaborate and electric. I RARELY watch livestreams of shows now, and when I attend I am usually aching for the whole thing to be over (sounds unappreciative I know), because most models from recebt years are absolute bores, the shows' production no better.
