Prada F/W 09.10 Milan

the mega boots are attrocious...looks like they could drown a 10 year old! the leather granny panties arent as plEAsant. curious to se ehow the fashionistas r gonna embrace this one..cant wait to see the mega boots in the sequel to SATC

This seems a little disorganized as a clear and concise self-enclosed aesthetic universe; something you'd expect from Prada.

I see nothing necessarily linking one piece to another apart from rubber and fur (both materials she has used in the past with greater focus and success).

What I love about this though is the total rejection of a flattering form. Those coats and suits were totally boxy and would make anyone look ten times heavier than they are.

I think what's genius about this collection is the "I don't care attitude". Whilst most of the design houses will be designing clothes for women to have fun wearing so that they forget about the economic times - Prada goes the exact opposite. She designs these unlfattering, almost minimal pieces to show that her woman doesn't care about putting up a trivial facade about the recession. She deals with it head on. This woman is confident enough with herself and intelligent enough, to not have to express herself with a 80's nostalgia or a trivial fashion frivolity.

To this sense of rejection I say bravo! :)

love the suits and that red dress, even though there's nothing revolutionary shown here....

OMG KARMAAAAAAAA

i'm loving the bags and the gladiator outfits, but all that fur needs to GTFO.

Miuccia Prada, what have you done...

i'm loving all the cleavage this season and those thigh high black rubber boots are solid sex.

love the shoes, so centurion, an original* take on roman inspired footwear....

*the point of fashion...

Take away the mink pieces with the awful necklines and the wading boots and you have run-of-the-mill pret-a-porter.
If the red fur dress had a square neck it would be a wonderful piece. Seeing as it doesn't; it's a no.
The best piece is the red leather trench.
This collection doesn't do much for me at all.

Prada collections usually need some getting used to it through eds, and eventually I always become a fan, but this time I like it immediately!

Some pieces are great, like coats with patterns and studded shoes, others I take with a bit of humor, those prehistoric looking furs, big boots (which I actually like) and high wasted shorts.
It's definitely very interesting!

YEEEESH!!! Im gonna have nightmares after this!!

At first I saw those galdiator-like dresses and I thought Oh thats a nice change for Prada. But no, theres no change, its the same old dirty Prada.

Those loose thigh high boots are soooo unlfattering I dont even think farmers would wanna wear them.

The clothes look like maternity dresses that have been dragged behind an old truck until they wore out.

The rest of the footwear is so ugly its hard to imagine that anything could get uglier after last season.

What bothers me is that this is gonna be one of Style's Top 10 again.

the hair and make-up remind me the Prada AW00.01 hair and make-up ...
and all this remind me what she developed from the late 90s to now about her bourgeoise style

exactly. i feel like we have seen all this before. didnt she do cavewoman a couple falls ago? and wasnt it just last season for miu miu that she did romanesque touches? not sure, besides the boots, what is there is to write about

I love the coats, the texture of the fabrics look so thick and warm, I've mixed feelings about this collection.

^^well i think the avant-garde is not to look at in Prada ... nor it is in Fashion in general those days (well ... the Japanese and Belgian are here for that ... I would say) so this season I tend to just appreciate what I see ... If I don't like ... well I don't like ... If it touches my eyes and inner feeling, well I tend like it ...

I'm not really into it ... But I like the fact Miuccia is true to her bourgeoise guideline ... She's there to dress Madame Wintour and the gimmicks (like this season roman's influence turned punk after the greek's influence turned torn previous season) are here to please the general audience ....
I just take what she offers ...
I don't care ...

and just wanted to say that the 'punk' touches were also in her menswear ... that all the silhouettes seen there are silhouettes she delivers every season in the late 90s and til the mid 00s ... she's revisiting past seasons every new seasons ....

I definitely like a lot of it. The tailoring is great, particularly those jackets and dresses with the collars that stand away from the neck a bit, and the last few armored looks are fab, but overall I don't love it like I loved last season.

I'm not sure what it is really. Maybe I was hoping it would be even more aggressive because of the first images that were posted, maybe I was hoping it would look a bit more like the mens collection (thought I do like the color she used)...I dunno. But I don't think the whole collection lives up to the first impression it made. It's kind of like how I felt about Jil Sander, it wasn't taken as far as it could go.

Agreed. There some exceptional, classic pieces here that any woman would love for years. Some of the velvets and the coats are just beautiful. However, I'm not getting a feeling from this other than it's missing something else, an extra push forward.

hate it....ugly image of a woman....nice clothes, but at the end of the day it's about the projected image, and is not nice....sack the stylist...

the concept in general is great. the execution, in most pieces, was as well. the boots were for the show. obviously no one's going to be ACTUALLY wearing those boots (god i hope not), but they stapled together the general concept of the show. this was a SHOW. a really good, unique show for this season.

however, some people really ARE too forgiving just because it's Prada. Some of those pieces were downright HIDEOUS (cavewoman mink dress, anyone?).

and those trojan heels? i was so disappointed. i love the concept, but the up-close shots of them look to me like what knock-offs of the actual heels would look like. they look cheap. the idea is so creative and amazing, but it could have been FABULOUS. but no. they're just mediocre, if you ask me.
