Prada F/W 2007.08 Milan

Reading back a bit, I honestly cannot understand how some people are defending this stuff to the death. I understand everyone has different tastes, and that's perfectly fine, but seriously, the majority of people who see those shaggy coats aren't going to see luxury or innovation....and I'm only considering people who are actually into fashion, nevermind those who don't follow it.

For me at least, it has nothing to do with the fact that it's an out of the ordinary material, in fact I've been enjoying the recent trend of experimenting with textile treatments that designers are doing. The reason I don't like it is that it's rediculous looking and quite ugly, imo of course.

If the fact that I can't find beauty, or even luxury in garments that look and no doubt feel like shag carpeting makes me narrowminded and less than clever....so be it.

Well I kinda always repeat the same thing but you're right: there's nothing to understand. It's pretentious, and so called clever, but it's nothing. It's Prada which, shall I repeat it, makes it money on cheap made in chian logoed nylon stuff. It's not Raf or something, there's no "sense" or "vision" or nothing intellectual. It's just quircky. Like it or not. But in fashion, as long as it's branded, everything suddenly become "fab" or else, as long as it's new every season it come innovative, or new, or futuristic. Behind the explanations/big words Vogue/other give when they describe a collection like this, there's ofter a terrifying shallowness.

BTW I was looking to the slideshow of the collection on vogue uk and I almost spit my San Pelligrino in front of my screen when I saw, after a model, THIS:

she did an exhibition called waist down once at her soho store-

apparently now she's become part of the traveling exhibition-

from here down, despite the bright color, she looks fine. but then it's like she got tired of thinking about it, decided not to do anything with her hair or makeup and just threw on a sweatshirt.

Oh I don't think it is intelectual, unless looking ugly is intellectual:-P, which I doubt. This is just sth different and so it is interesting. And at least it looks so modern.

And it takes a lot of strong will to show sth like this at a big house. This carpet won't be the "new" black nylon, tho:-)

This is easily the best collection I've seen in Milan. It' s clever, original and she's always 10 steps ahead of everyone else. Much better than last season which was pretty horrible. I have to mention that it does not surpass the brilliance of FW06 :flower:

I don't care if the coats were spun from God's pubic hairs, they still look like bath mats.
:rofl::rofl: you just about killed me with that!!!

ok, I looked at the pictures again, again, and again since the first pic posted here....so it's about a day...
and I still don't like it

Let's be honest, I still can't imagine how any single item from this collection can work with a regular woman's wardrobe. I don't see the tailoring either... maybe i'm missing something...

You and me. There's a frumpiness to it that I don't like. It's not all out frumpy but it's not right either. But then again I'm very partial to very fitted, neatly cut stuff.

When is Elmo or Big Bird making an apprearance?

I like the knee socks....the double tone makes it really great. And ... nope, that's about it.

it's... interesting

i can't say i love it, and ive been trying to make myself love it for the last couple days... it's just not very exciting... different... but not exciting.

and oy vey miuccia, get pat to put some makeup on ya hun~!

The entire show hasn't been posted in generic HQ format, but here are some random HQ's in the meantime...

undoubtedtly, what's available in stores will have some of the same themes, but will be less weird looking

is it interesting though?..
and is it new or modern?...

i had a blk 'furry' sweater in the late 80's by betsey johnson..
i got it because i thought it was so cool how it was made...but i could never wear it without people saying i looked like a gorilla...
..needless to say it didn't get worn much...
(*i still have it tucked away in storage though because i am interested in anything different)

*my point is...
that was 20 years ago...
it didn't work then...so it certainly doesn't now...
if the only intersting thing about this is that it is somehow innovative or experimental...then i have to raise my hand to object!...
cuase i've been around long enough to seee this come and go once before...

*i will wait until i can see this up close and turn it inside out to see how it is really made to say for sure..
but i believe it is exactly the same as my old gorilla sweater...
:P

i agree...def not the new black nylon...
---i think raf will be making the $$$ for mama and papa prada this season over at jil...

jil is no longer owned by prada.

the clothes were really pretty in motion, lots of interesting folds on the backs of dresses, etc.
