Top 10 New Faces S/S 10

that is quite a big thing.

Ginta wasn't at Balmain. Constance (and I think Kasia) were the only first-time Balmain walkers.

She's having a very impressive season, though. I find it kind of weird tbh.

Anastasia will surely make the list. Ginta deserves to be there along with Bregje. It's too soon to tell but R'el, Patricia, Keke, Shu & Lyndsey are getting there.

Right now I'm going to go with.. Mirte, Frida, Jacqueline, Bregje, Ginta, Anastasia, Lyndsey Scott, Keke, Lindsay Wixson, Kate Kosushkina

But who knows what the next 4 days will bring

But wasn't Ginta among some "Top Ten Newcomer-list" last season already? I mean, she isn't exactly a new face... (Though, it was the same with Tao who already has done shows before but was called a new face when she signed with Supreme and gained success)

was Ginta ever a part of a top 10 though.. I don't remember... i know it isn't her 1st season, but I think she is doing much better this season than her debut season (sort of like Madisyn or Kendra)

^ True. It was the same with Katie Fogarty - who was in style.com's list last season but already did Prada and other S/S 09 shows. Anyway: Ginta, aswell as Bregje, defenitely deserves to be on the list.

I've learned the hard way not to get overly technical with these kind of lists. I mean who honest to gawd debuted on the international runways last season? Only 3 of the girls, I believe. Alla has done shows as early as FW08, Anna de Rijk SS08 I believe (as did the aforementioned Ginta who has been several years in the making without success until Women reinvented her), Hanna did a few shows in Milan in SS09 (Jil Sander among them), Katie, Kendra, Nimue and Tao we all know not to have their first show seasons last season. So that leaves Dorothea, Jac and Karolin. SS09 was even more ridiculous in terms of how many seasons under their belts the "newcomers" had. So I try not to take the "newcomers" term too literally but it's hard when you have OCD.

It's harder to pick newcomers this season IMO. Last season all the girls had overall impressive showlists, meaning they did very well in all cities. This season there aren't that many girls who did so well everywhere.

My picks are:
Anastasia Kuznetsova
Bregje Heinen
Frida Gustavsson
Ginta Lapina
Jacquelyn Jablonski
Kate Koshushkina
Lyndsey Scott
Mirte Maas
Ranya Mordanova.

This leaves one spot open, I don't know for now who to put there. Does anybody remember if Constance was ever on the list? Because she's having a pretty impressive season. I think style.com might ignore her under the pretense of being "too old" yet they included girls like Tao, Sessilee and Iris before. Also I'd say Shu Pei is having a great season too thanks to becoming one of the Marsh girls. Don't know if she's "too old" for the list as well.

^with Patricia van der Vliet added to that list, it's prefect.

I think Constance is WAY too established to be on a top 10 list.. who knows though, but Toa, Sesilee were all walking before, but they really made their mark in their respective "debut" seasons.. well not really Sesilee.. but she had great exposure in other avenues that season. Shu Pei I think has a better shot..

^Why not Patricia? She was a Prada exclusive, closed Balenciaga and is doing great so far in Paris with only a-list high profile shwos.

Would Ginta really qualify? She's been around for like 5 years now.

And Ranya too? She was 'big' last season too.

I can see Ginta making it.. she is like a Toa, even if they have been modeling this is their season they are booking more shows an making an impression. And Ranya had a Givenchy campaign.. but she is booking things more consistently now.. Style.com's list is really hard to predict because of their definition of new, but I can see both Ginta and Ranya making the list as of now

MDC Loves Givenchy.. I wouldn't be surprised if Antonella Graef makes their top 10 list.

Yeah, I know what you mean about Constance, that's why I was iffy in the first place. I just think it'd be a shame if she were overlooked as she's making some real strides at shows and booking stuff like Calvin Klein, Balmain etc this season. And even though Shu isn't exactly new either, I definitely think she's a huge possibilty for the list as she's booking stuff left and right, a staple in the same sense that Liu was.

I'm actually reconsidering Kate Kosushkina, she's doing lousy in Paris thus far and maybe, personally, I'd rather add Patricia because even though she did a small number of shows, it's an impressive list anyway.

Well like I said in my original post (#48) a lot of these girls are several years in the making. To me, Ginta had a real breakthrough this season and I think it should and could be acknowledged but it all depends on the mood at style.com

Ranya though is maybe fresher than most of the girls even, FW09 was her first season (I think?) on the international runways, she only did a few small shows in NY and then the Givenchy semi-exclusive + Louis Vuitton. She's everywhere this season and again, I think should be acknowledged for this.

I'm not 100% sure but I think Kate Kosushkina has an age issue, she is not 16 yet and I think that might be why her season in Paris seems "lousy".. I think its a little limited.. same thing with Keke Lindgard.

Yeah, it's totally arbitrary who makes the list and who doesn't. Based on how their lists were for the previous 2 season I agree, I see Ginta and Ranya having a good chance making the list.

Yeah, I suspected about Kate but some girls managed to do to better despite the age thing. Like I said, Patricia has a very small list but when you look at it it's quite impressive (to me at least). I don't even know why I'm fretting about all of this, I'll have plenty of time to complain about their picks once the official list is out.

Well Patricia still has 3 more days to consolidate her case! :flower:

I think once Wednesday night hits we should post the girls who are in the running and then post their seasonal highlights with the # of shows they did (not an entire showlist though because that would make this thread too cluttered). And then the real debate can begin haha

some of the names you guys are mentioning aren't even new. (i.e Ginta, Kendra,Ranya, katie)
