UK Vogue May 2016 : Kate Moss by Craig McDean

THIS!

...It's interesting to me in this whirlwind fashion industry pace that we are stuck with editors who haven't tried new things in like 10 years.

I think it's to coincide with the Rolling Stones exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery this month.

Well I heard that Cara wasn't that great to work with, but then she landed cover after cover. Personally I don't think it has anything to do with Naomi's attitude, more her skin colour. Lest we forget the euphoria surrounding Jourdan finally landing a cover....all I'm saying.

I kinda like this cover, but for some reason I've seen this a lot of times, I've never considered Vogue UK as an interesting magazine, I still don't get why should be part of the "big four"

Well look through the 80ies and 90ies and you'll see why! The magazine was producing superb content and covers. 60ies were iconic too and some stuff from the early 2000s was amazing. The magazine has a massive legacy but it has been extremely boring for the last 10 years. To be fair to Moss she probably sells well bcos they don't seem to be able to offer anything better and she basically has become their "highlight" and now a complete drag!

It's definitely one of the 'big four' because of its past and the fantastic work it did once used to produce. I imagine it also has one of the largest international distributions after the US edition.

Other than what others have already mentioned, I think you also need to bear in mind that London is one of the top 4 fashion capitals in the world (next to Paris, NY and Milan). You cannot deny the UK's contribution to fashion, with a series of movements and an overwhelming amount of fashion editors, designers, photographers, models who continuously turn out good (or questionable...ahem, Katie Grand) work. And so all this forms part of the prestige for the magazine, whether they choose to reflect that or not.

You're absolutely right.

I'd say it's a bigger and more prestigious magazine than Vogue Italia for example. They rely heavily on Steven Meisel (who they've partially lost now) but other than that the photographers, stylists and models are not on the same level as Vogue US, UK and Paris.

Anyway, it doesn't take away the fact that UK Vogue covers are boring, just like Vogue US. This cover is no different. We've seen this a million times already.
Looking forwards to see the eds cause those are usually good.

Thanks for all the responses, I'll look the Vogue UK archives.

Kate plus the Rolling Stones tee plus the Union Jack... Well, alright. But what they may think to be their trademark looks more like a used gimmick to be true.

The contents on the other hand are beyond exciting with Anna Ewers, Yasmin Wijnaldum, Harley Weir and, cherry on the top: Mica by Angello Pennetta.

Yeah, that's not the point, there's more creative ways to pay tribute to them than this. Rolling Stones shirts in a fashion spread are beyond trite.

Some editorials are already available online. Gotta say that Kate´s editorial is beyond boring... and so is Anna by Bailey´s :(

Oh I'm bummed. I thought the review sounded interesting. :(

Just found this, which I do like!

^I like that one as well, the only one... I wish that was the cover.

That would of actually made an interesting cover. That's way too much to ask for from British Vogue though. Instead they gave us a close up of one of her past covers by Demarchelier.

It's a little lackluster, but Kate looks really good here!

I have to say that after having despaired a couple of years ago at the number of covers Kate got( although she used to be my favourite model) the fashion world has been so dire and mediocre, that after the Gigis and Riris, Kate Moss for Vogue Uk sounds like the best thing in the world.

It's just a pity magazines seems unable to do anything new with her, and insist on recreating a woman that does not exist anymore, the excessive use of photoshop turns the cover into something completely lifeless. There are other way to manipulate an image that do not rely on airbrushing the fact she is older.

The last shot could have been a better cover.

The Photoshopping on the cover looks even worse in real life. I opened my subscriber's copy last night after letting it sit for days, it baffles me that think anyone believes that she looks like that. It frustrates me that they simply can't let people look their age, it's not like she's even 'old'.

They've been a little more sensitive to her features in the editorial, but the cover is bloody awful.
