US Vogue May 2016 : Taylor Swift by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

even worse than I expected... the red is bad, her hair is bad, her pose is bad... and it looks very dated to me like from 2002

She looks like a real model in this shoot
She looks a bit like model Patricia van der Vliet

Image wise, I really like it. The styling and colours look great. I'm just not a fan of her and she has already gotten the cover so I wish it was someone else.

I wasn't expecting for her to land the cover at all. It's not my favourite cover or even the best I've seen from Taylor, but I at least applaud the magazine for trying something different! It's refreshing at least, even if I'm not in love.

For once, she looks pretty. Good job!

Woah, this is fantastic! Three musician covers in a row, this is a new one for Vogue US I think.

This is the Mert and Marcus I love! Super surprised to see Taylor on the cover, but I think it's great. I adore the red background and it all feels very different for US Vogue which I think is great. I'm really into these M&M cover shoots for US Vogue; last month, Lupita's cover, the J.Lo cover and Rooney Mara's first cover were all stunning to me as well.

The editorial is also great, it feels very contemporary and I actually really like the styling; it's certainly different for Taylor and not the kind of look I would associate with an American Vogue cover shoot.

I don't like it. Feels like a December cover with all that red and gold. Taylor looks terrible. Bad hair. Bad pose. Yeah, I really don't like it.

Also, "Who's That Girl"? Really? Is there anything about her we don't know yet? She's not some kind of recluse or newcomer.

^ It's, I think quite clearly, a reference to the fact they believe they've made her look almost unrecognizable. Not that they believe people don't know who Taylor Swift is.

Lol, I think you're right. I didn't actually read the part under her name. :ashamed: I don't think she looks that different or unrecognizable though.

This would have been perfect for Christmas. The red and gold theme would have been perfect for the holidays.

I want to like it, but there's something weird going on with the hair (please let that be a wig), and the fact that I hardly recognized her not just in the cover, but also in the editorial.

M&M's photography, without the contrast and color play, doesn't stand out. Mario Testino, yes, Mario Testino, takes better and more energetic cover stories than this.

I'd give this a 6.5/10

She looks like Sia.. but i like it. i wish one of the green ones from the Editorial was the real cover though.

agreed...
the shots on the green backdrop are the strongest...
the cover shot is the weakest...

i will say though, when i first read the cover title, i thought she was going to look different in each shot, like the editorial with daria years ago where she was styled completely differently (down to the hair/makeup) in each look...
it's just "ok"

Did they call Vogue Russia to match their red covers? (it might be a coincidence that Karlie's fronting it)
Seriously this is bad. I'm tired of seeing singers for the third month in the row. Give us models, actresses, the fashion pack. Taylor doesn't sell and the fact that she's co-chairing the MET gala doesn't explain a cover...

I find it a lovely CLEAN and eye-catching cover. She looks nice.
Have they changed the size of the magazine?

I'm not usually a fan of her, but damn these photos are good. I love the vetements dress and the Marc Jacobs one

i like the styling (esp. the hair), but she looks like Hana Jirickova here. What have they done to her face?
