US Vogue October 2016 : Lupita Nyong'o by Mario Testino

Beautiful cover. The ed has too much of those post-production filters and constrast that Testino always uses these days

This cover is stunning ! she's beautiful and the light is just perfect.

I don't have any expectation from Vogue US for a long time so this is a great surprise as well.

Really not gagging over the cover...I don't think it's a flattering picture of her at all - did they intentionally want to give her no neck? Also - that dress should be burned.

The editorial is fine and some nice images, but I do not like the heavy filter effect of the shoot.

I'm not surprised everyone is falling over themselves here, though.

This is simply breathtaking. One of the best US Vogue covers in recent memory. Love Lupita! :buzz:

One of the best US Vogue in years , the layer , colors and her expression works ! , so ethereal and magical , Bravo Mario ! , and the editorial is so stunning thank god they used natural African Authentic scenery , very refreshing ! and forward , good job for once after that disastrous September !

Amazingggg!! Breath taking image Testino really captured Lupita's essence in this cover, so warm and beautiful. This is the first Vogue cover I am buying in a long long time.

I WANT I WANT! Such a gorgeous cover, I never get tired at looking at Lupita's beauty. She's flawless. Also that editorial of hers is amazing!!

Saw this cover on instagram and literally gasped. Always a pleasure to see Lupita, and what a stunning cover story.

...It's incredible that Wintour approved this, it's quite different from the senator wives fodder she churns every month.

Agreeeed.

And it's such a relief to see an African American woman in Africa with happy smiling people, instead of some white model in some insulting situation of posing amongst extreme poverty in designer duds or in some cliche love story with an African tribal man.

I'm not surprised everyone is falling over themselves here, though.

What a condescending (and odd) comment :rolleye:

I absolutely LOVE LOVE this !!! This is so stunning, I agree Testino has done a great job with that editorial story wowww and also surprised Anna said yes to this, this is gorgeousss OMG and the cover has that proud, smiley and gorgeous African queen vibes: great job everybody. How could they not pick this for September indeed? THIS is what elegance and a fashion bible should present, not that crappy instagirls´trend.

She's not African American. She's an African woman in her homeland of Kenya.

Amazing cover , Lupita looks so gorgerous. Finally Testino made a great work.

What I find odd is that everyone is blindly falling over themselves over this cover and just because it's a more diverse celebrity choice (which I'm all for) doesn't mean that it's a flawless cover and editorial - which I find it far from.

That's just the culture of the internet these days. If it feeds into the current agenda, it is above constructive or aesthetic criticism of any kind.

I'm sure I'll get torn to pieces with this comment....which exactly proves my point.

I don't love the cover simply because it's a more diverse celebrity choice, personally. I love it because it's a perfect example of the Vogue team finally getting every stage right, from the casting to the styling to the setting to the photographer. It has all culminated into one of the finest pieces of work in a long time. Naturally this is all subjective and you're allowed to feel opposite about it.

We're all entitled to our opinions and I don't think it's ever going to go down well telling people why they are having that opinion. Without being rude, I'm not sure you - or anyone else for that matter - have any real right to tell people why they think something or have a particular opinion.

I am not blindly falling over anything.

I can only speak for myself for you couldn´t be more wrong.
First, I love Lupita and always have since she broke into the scene.
Second, I don´t see a flaw in the execution of the cover and editorial. Styling, photography, set and cover subject work perfectly.
Third, she´s an african actress promoting Queen of Katwe (a film about an african woman) that got photograph in her home country in Africa. So I don´t even see a sort of pandering to any agenda... it can´t get any more true than that. And this is Lupita´s third cover, it´s not like Vogue doesn´t like her already.

On another note, everyone keeps saying that they´ll get a copy since forever. I´d like to know the numbers in comparison to September, to see if Kendall and her 65m followers do any difference

Overall the best cover in a while but it could be better if she can look to the camera IMO
