Marina & Polina!!!! I quite like Addison too... Jacqueline was an early favorite of mine but I don't know that I'm sold on her now... she seems... not quite ready?

Addison Gill - Canadian / Chantale Nadeau
Jackie Campeau - Canadian / Chantale Nadeau
Inge de Jong - Dutch / Elite Toronto?

Polina Moroz - Ukraine? / ?

Jackline Prim - Brazil / Elite Brazil
Marina Heiden - Brazil / L'Equipe, Visage, Premier

So again this year it appears that the contest is not for scouting, just promoting girls already found by a mother agency. It would be so exciting if they had found an American candidate who wasn't already with an agency.

They should structure the contest so it at least looks like they are trying.

On the other hand, Chantale Nadeau is certainly doing well with her scouting. She promotes herself very effectively via modelresource.ca I think and she sets up great tests.

Polina and Addison are my favourites. I like them all apart from Jacqueline who is a little plain.

Polina is my absolute favorite :crush: Then I think I like them all the same way, couldn't pick any second choice, each one stands out with some different potential.

I think Marina and Inge are the best of the bunch. Neither Canadian seem like Supreme material, and Jackline's too plain. Polina doesn't interest me at all, even when you disregard the fact that she's 5'7!?

Polina seems like she has a great personality, but I don't like her look and to me she looks old.

My only issue with Marina is that she looks like a typical Brazilian Supreme girl - which is not a bad thing in my own books - but for that reason her look may not be fresh enough.

Inge de Jong - Dutch / Elite Toronto?
Yep, she's on their modelwire.

None of them has a really distinct look, the kind that would make me stop and stare in awe, but it's still a great group of girls. Marina actually appeals to me more than certain girls she resembles, but, like Bianca pointed out, that look is starting to feel a bit typical. If I had to pick just one winner, I'd go with Inge.

When is the winner going to be announced?

Last time around, Bianca noticed Amanda Laine on Supreme site in January. Kasia had been up earlier, so we thought she had won.

Then we heard from Modelresource.ca on Feb.20 and Vmagazine on the 26th:

02.26.08 WINNER'S CIRCLE
Meet Amanda Laine, winner of the 2007 V A Model! search. Miuccia and Nicolas are already entranced

Oh wow.. didn't expct it would take them that long to announce a winner. So they signed more than 1 girl last year? Interesting.

My current favorites are now Addison and Marina

Vmag would put the pictures in an upcoming issue. Supreme would want the news out just before the next shows.

To be fair, it is extremely difficult to find a good American model, let alone one that has never been placed else where. That requires someone to tour the country scouting around America, hoping to find someone exceptional enough to become a model (which in fact is the point of a mother agency).

I just think it's odd that no one complains when the girls from EML or Ford's Supermodel of the World have a mother agency prior to the competition (even if it's within their global network, which in theory would require less work that scouting girls from a stand alone mother agency). Does that mean that those agencies are not "trying" either?

It means those contests are not faking what they are doing. And Ford does lots of real scouting.

If the contest was structured better, it could find American proto-models. Start out by telling the girls what is being looked for, instead of just a height requirement. Then make it interesting to search the pictures and vote.

I don't mind that the girls have agencies, just as long as V/Supreme are honest about it in their rules - which this year they have been.
