Vogue Paris October 2010 : Lara Stone by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

Being old and blind, I thought they were leather gloves, but they're lace. Imagine the imprints they'd leave behind on the skin if you were left holding those for too long...

Lara , i was gonna say that too, maybe we're wrong, maybe someone else's holding her boobs.:innocent:
anyway, the cover is perfect, and i see the price increased.

^I noticed it too that some people, especially fans of Stone and Poly, do not accept criticism... often they take it as a personal attack, while it's simply a personal opinion!
It can get annoying after a while when all the ''haters'' have to say that they're so sick of her everything, her work and naked eds etc while there is not one model of her generation who is becoming so iconic as she is.

That said, in my opinion, this is the best cover of the year.

Iconic? Do people outside of websites like TFS even know who she is???

And even in larger size, I still don't see what's so "epic" about this cover.
Lara + her large boobs + VP. How original.

Actually some people around me (who don't care that much about fashion) know who she is. It always surprise me.

The following points are mentioned:

-she's been on the cover of Vogue Paris several times: LARA (more than Casta)
-recently had an issue dedicated to her: LARA
-she has a special relationship with this magazine LARA (more than Casta)
-she is highly popular: LARA
-has a lot of high fashion cred: LARA

So Casta may look like a more perfect contender, but when you look at it, Lara is more VP than Casta will ever be, so it makes perfect sense that Lara is on this cover.

What I meant by "highly popular" is "known outside the fashion circle". You know Lara because you are interested in fashion, but people who aren't have no clue who she is. Regarding Laetitia, I don't know how it is in other countries, but in France everyone knows who she is, even people who don't have a clue about fashion, and believe me she sells very well.
Anyway, I wasn't saying Lara was a bad choice, but that another model would have been interesting too. For an anniversary issue, you could have thought Vogue Paris would choose a more commercial model like Casta, but they remain loyal to Lara who really embodies their current position on fashion.

sorry, but why would anyone who's not interested in fashion, or works in fashion buy VP, and let's expand the term fashion to art, design, photography etc.......
Carine has expressed numerous times that she adores Lara, because she's so different...
and why is it so important that everyone have to know who you are, there are people who haven't heard of kate moss.

Well then, why do you think Vogue US features actresses on the great majority of its covers? It's easier for them to sell magazines if they have a famous face that everyone knows about, even people who are not into fashion.
That's one of the reasons why I appreciate Vogue Paris: it's a mag that takes risks and puts forward people they believe in. Natasha Poly, Anna S... The first time I saw them was on the cover of VP.

It's always going to be about making money. It's a business. You can cut it any which way, but money is always going to be a deciding factor.

They may well put forward people they believe in, but they certainly wouldn't put forward someone they believed in who they suspected might not sell for them.

And also the notion that the much-derided parts of the company that are in the business of making money are the ones that underwrite the showpiece publications.

The masquerade themed styling is completely relevant given the fact that Carine is throwing a giant masked ball in celebration of the 90th Anniversary.

I'm sick of people saying that this or that isn't fashion, we're all guilty of doing it, but honestly it is such a subjective argument. Whether or not something represents fashion for you personally if it is on the cover of arguably the most influential fashion magazine in the world it is fashion. Fashion is such a fluid and open ended term and I'm just over people putting restrictions on it. This image is more fashion oriented than some of the banal things I've seen on the runway this season.

This image is very strong, very memorable and destined to become iconic - love Lara's t*ts or hate em' they are here to stay.

Couldn't agree more.

lol it's so true that poly/lara fans absolute hate criticism sadly it makes the models seem unlikable when their stans act that way.

i wonder if VP will veer away from their usual cast for the 90th...for once i hope not.:innocent:

Yes. Her profile has shot up due to her marriage to David. She is featured more in the UK press now and members of "pop culture" blogs/forums like ONTD know who she is. Even my mum knows who Lara is.

there are people who haven't heard of kate moss.

Are they living in a cave?

I wouldn't consider her mainstream in the US (unless you're into fashion) but my cousin from the UK and said Lara being married to her husband raised her profile a bit.

Since this is an anniversary issue, will it include editorials for the month or show a lot of their archives?
