Vogue Paris October 2010 : Lara Stone by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

i think noone will like this my post and I have never been a huge fan of her, but somehow i would love to see Laetitia Casta in this picture more than Lara. Examctly the same photo, just a different model.
Though I love Lara, but somehow here.. idk.. that's a historical cover and just maybe to me seems that Casta could have been a better symbol.
but, I dont want to criticize anything and I will say that i also really like the cover. I cant wait to get the magazine!

Oh I completely agree with you, Casta would have been great! She's been on the cover of Vogue Paris several times and recently had an issue dedicated to her, so she does have a special relationship with this magazine. And on top of that she's French and highly popular while at the same time having a lot of high fashion cred (she was the muse of YSL). So yes, a different model would have changed the symbolism of the cover a lot.

This is brilliant. Personally I don't think Vogue Paris could of done it better. For an anniversary issue it hits all the right sectors.
Vogue Paris have had some fantastic covers. But this, in all its simpleness is perfect to celebrate their 90th anniversary. I see the irony.

The cover is Epic, for sure!! I hope we will see everywhere in the french streets.
I think Lara is the best choice for this, because without seeing her face, every french Vogue follower will recognize her. She's one of those models associated to the magazine, like Daria, Natasha or Kate. Moreover the title says " 90 years of excess " and who's better than Lara and her boobs to picture that.

This makes me so impatient to get it! I think itll be the only thing on my mind when I'll go to bed sunday until I buy it. :p

YAY! Iam happy I am not the only one to think so!

The cover's alright...But I do hope the inside contents are better than that.

The following points are mentioned:

-she's been on the cover of Vogue Paris several times: LARA (more than Casta)
-recently had an issue dedicated to her: LARA
-she has a special relationship with this magazine LARA (more than Casta)
-she is highly popular: LARA
-has a lot of high fashion cred: LARA

So Casta may look like a more perfect contender, but when you look at it, Lara is more VP than Casta will ever be, so it makes perfect sense that Lara is on this cover.

^^ Plus, Lara is the absolute embodiment of of what is hot in fashion/modeling right now. And if VP wants to be seen as fashion forward yet current, then Lara is the only option for this cover. Also, Lara pretty much owes her career to VP so it only makes sense that she appears on this cover.

Agree about Lara being perfect choice for this cover, besides her I could only see Kate Moss on the cover of this issue, and I'm not saying it just because I love her. Kate & VP are well-known, perfect duo for years. And maybe Gisele... But I'm happy what we got.

And I noticed that Carine always gives M&M to shoot most important issue covers.
They're shooting March, September & December covers usually and now 90th anniversary. And the result is always good (few exceptions, for ex: VP September 2010 cover, which I don't like).

Perfect cover for a sexy lingerie catalog.
Too bad it's just for Vogue Paris.

I love that Lara's t*ts and teeth have become so iconic that all we need to see are those and we know exactly who it is.

What a great cover.

^^ to be honest it was a bit blank to me initally but yes, if i had given the mouth/boobs combo a few more seconds I'm sure I would have guessed Lara too.

I agree with honeycombchild: if more of her boobs had been cropped out & the focus directed further up I would have liked this a bit more. As it is it's done well but not very "iconic" & "legendary" to me. Praying for some fresh eds.
