Vogue Paris September 2008 : Anna Selezneva by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

gorgeous cover.
emmanuelle's eds are always very "emmanuelle" (which is good because i love her), but in this specific one it looks like daria is purposely channeling her the same way snejana channeled anna wintour and (i haven't seen it yet but Dieselmax said so) anna is channeling carine in this issue (can't wait to see it). i really like it. the background couldn't be more minimalist but it suits the ed, and i love the styling (obviously).
i just don't get one thing. what the hell is agyness doing in vogue paris?

I like the daria ed, but it's a bit dull and repeated. its nothing new actually, we've seen everything on emmanuelle already. what's the point?

100% agree jacque marcel... at this point, i'd rather see emmanuelle wearing it herself! :P even the poses are quite emmanuelle (as in when we see her in thesartorialist pics)
hot cover (although i liked the first/darker pic better), and hot emmanuelle editorial so far!

^ I so agree with you clo, I feel like it's deja-vu all the time with this magazine, even though I love M&M, McDean.........even VP refined Klein's photography to make it look unrecognisable (although I liked the 'Performance' one).

Seeing eds from VP pre-Carine makes me wish things would go back to that form, honestly I'm sick of seeing the same misty-hued, dim quality pictures every issue in this magazine.

Sorry most of you won't agree, but this is just IMO :)
I agree. I like Carine and her personal style and her as a person is fabulous, she has an immense talent but these ed's are boring. I liked VP more under Joan Juliet Buck.

I agree to a certain extent, since this is a September issue, Carine probably just want to pull in all the big name photographers for security. Bad side to this is the photgraphers are very predictable and we didn't get to see much special. Especially like the reported McGinley shots weren't in this issue.

Like you wouldn't complain if they used Gisele, Kate, Gemma, Raquel, Isabeli...

Oh Gemma and Raquel would be a nice. Not a nice surprise but nice. It's not only because I'm not a fan of those models, I really like Daria and Lara but it is a bit annoying to see them over and over again while there are lots of other models who would make good editorials too. And no I'm not talking about Julia Stegner, just other models.

I would love to have seen Gemma or Raquel, or even Freja.

Elise and Diana could have had larger edits too.

Yeah... Carine is just so insecure in her photographer/editing choices

^^LOL, and i can not belive anyone would say they prefered JJB (who i love as a writer) over Roitfeld, my goodness she almost ruined VP imho.

So where's Lara in all of this?....and Sasha??

Someone like Anja would have made that cover epic. Anna falls flat for me in her pictures....too much hype and commotion...i probably would have liked her without all of it.

VP is like a broken record now....the same 8 models on rotation in every issue is certainly not inspiring...paired with I&V's redundancy. It's not looking too good IMO.

I agree somewhat. My mind can be easily changed ,and Anne has some potential, but right now I'm not incredibly into her.

I know -_-
this feels like US Vogue without Trentini

On a more serious note, I do agree with your broken record comment.
They do take 'never change a winning formula' too literally at VP.
A formula that has been repeated over and over isn't winning anymore. :ninja:

How did she almost ruin it ,if you don't mind me asking?

I'm just wanting to know.
Because i think she was an awful editor, very unfortunate, her issues seemed weak and didnt have the French flare that Carine's Vogue has, which is of course just imho from all of the issues i have and have seen edited under her.I love and enjoy her work as a writer but i think she was the wrong choice for eic of VP.

the cover is amazing, much better than the August one. I love the contrast between the purple and the orange lipstick. I like Daria's editorial, it's nothing that we haven't seen before but it's cool.
