Hopefully it will end up on youtube. It debuted on the 13th

Don't worry, they'll show it again. TLC likes to replay stuff. Check the website (http://www.tlc.com).

I don't know if the NYT article is on target. Wilkenfeld didn't seem like a "rag-trade thug" in the pilot. I'm surprised the article didn't comment on the girls' personalities, especially Angelika...

^^ It appears that they will replay the first episode on Friday night before the new one is shown... ^_^

How tall are these girls? TLC's website doesn't say anything their heights.

Abi 5'9
Lucia 5'9.5''
Michelle 5'8
Valerija 5'11 (she used to be listed as 5'9.5'', though)

I don't know any of Beatrice or Angelika's agencies (though I'd guess they too were placed on the show by Next), so no idea about those two...

Actually, scratch that. I found Beatrice (5'10) under Next Direct on modelwire, and while Angelika's book isn't up, you can still find some old polas. She's supposedly 5'11.

i just saw what i suppose is espisode two of the series, and im surprised to say that i enjoyed it! its much better then the other "top model" commercialized sort of shows. i think lucia has a lot of modeling potential, and it was interesting to see when they got their BMI's tested (all the more reason i think BMI is still bullocks).
its also nice change from the american girls you always see on those modeling shows who are, no offense, kind of lacking in the modeling department.
the show was also more realistic, no "walk across this wattery bridge in seven inch heels" sort of things.
SPOILER (kind of)
so one part of the show was where there was a rack of six outfits delivered, and the girls were to chooe an outfit they liked. one girl was alseep so she got stuck with the lingerie outfit. they then met with petra and she guided them to posing with a mood according to the outfit they chose. the next day they met with the same photographer they had for their first shoot, and had their photoshoot.
three girls got called back (ugh i suck at remembering their names, but i know it was lucia, angelika, and the one from florida or whatever) and were congratulated on the shoot, but lucia was asked to tone up and loose some weight =\.
as concludes the episode=]

I like the show, although Next and Petra could have mixed things up a bit. The models all have this homogenized look-brunette white girls. Surely there must be other types of beauty out there that Next can capitalize on. It's disappointing.

ya i wished they mixed it up a little too. tonights episode was good it was sad when the personal trainer told the girl she was perfect them the agency is like well u need to loose weight...although it is the fashion industry that kinda sucked.

^ I agree. I adore Lucia. And it was so sad to see the look on her face after they told her that because for a moment there she was really happy and confident :(

I love love love this show; it is everything that ANTM isn't. All of these girls could be professional models IMO and there isn't any superfluous cattiness like on ANTM. These girls seem pretty smart and driven and certainly more sophisticated than anything on ANTM. I also love that they've been plucked from around the world rather than just America.

Plus Petra seems so so sweet and kind and encouraging. It's just a way better show.

I thought the show was good. I can see Lucia going very far. She reminds me slightly of Vlada. I can't stand Angelika's attitude, she does not look like a model of the moment (as in average, nothing stands out, ehh, ok, ya know), acts like she does not want to be there, and should go home. Beatrice reminds me of a future VS model, give and take a few years maybe when she is 19, I see her going far. Abby is too commercial looking for me, but I think it is just her hairstyle?., Veronika looks modelish when she has no makeup on and her hair up, but when she has it down, I don't see anything, but she does look like a younger Petra, so ?! I'm iffy with her. And Michelle, well I don't really know what to say about her yet.

But the thing that annoys me a little bit is that these girls have such a hard time walking, I think the walk is something you are born with, I naturally walk with one leg in front of the other because my legs are so long, I think some of these girls need to breath, relax, and just walk like they would down the street, and then they would get it.

Another thing too, is that these girls seem so timid at times, modeling requires removing clothing and throwing clothes on very fast, it's not a modest business. But I think if they just grow into theirselves and become positive ,and confident; then they will be able to loosen up and relax, which is when the best photos come out.

Out of all the girls though, Lucia and Veronika def. have the best personalities. Along with Abby and then Michelle. But Angelika is just a brat and the things she comes out with are both annoying and ignorant.

What kind of bothered me though is that the agents are trying to cover up the fact that this business asks girls to drop lots of weight. But instead they try to act as if they send them to the gym and a nutritionist. Well if that was so then what bothered me was when the guy said that Lucia was perfect and Beatrice had too low of a bmi. But the agencts are confusing them into saying they need to drop more weight to work. Just come out and say the truth, don't sugar coat it for the cameras.

I did feel bad for Michelle though, she seems naturally skinny and for him to pick her apart without even knowing her was not right. I'm very thin but I eat and I know how it feels to have people gawk at you and say you are so skinny!! like I don't try to eat and gain weight. I'm sure he wouldn't say that to a heavy person.

But also what they ate was outragious, they said "I ate too much!!" A hot dog and chips!? That is nothing. And the instructor looked at her like she was crazy, the exact thing I was thinking.
 But then again, they are in a new city and running around, there really is no time to eat. I've been there, days when I've worked hours and hours and had no time to eat. It's like telling them to eat, but then lose weight. It seems confusing to these girls, it's sad.

^Yeah it's really difficult...it's all about the balance between staying skinny, but staying nutricious at the same time.

You said everything I was thinking! :flower: A Model's Life is my new favorite show, it seems so genuine and not at all contrived like ANTM is! I can't wait for next week! :woot::innocent:

While Angelika isn't my favorite and I think she can come off like a brat.. I did think it was really sweet when towards the end she was trying to make Lucia feel better about the weight thing and about how it's the modeling standards that are weird, not her. It was sweet when she said "You are perfect in my eyes".
