I'm completely thrilled that Nicole won. Now I'm glad that I didn't spoil myself before the finale! I thought that she was the strongest contender from the beginning. Shame about the height, although I don't think her chances are any worse than previous contestants -- which is to say, that chances are fairly slim all around whether she's 5'10" or 5'4" because she was on the show. I think we know how this goes by now. I really do not place any hope in Wilhelmina doing much for her, but if she has ambition like Jaslene, she could make something of her career.

I love the newly posted photos of Nicole

There is a model by the name of Nicole F listed under New Models for Wilhelmina New York. Unfortunately, there are no pictures. I'll post them as soon as I have them.

^ thanks for the photos , I'm happy Rachel is getting some work , I really liked her looks but she was voted off too fast and it was unfair cuz it's not like she had to go through a photo shoot and the panel

I don't understand why so many people are pessimistic about Nicole & the winners of this show

Are you guys saying that even though ANTM is a very popular reality show world wide , it is a curse to those who participate in it and especially those who win it & will not be taken seriously by the fashion industry ... cuz if that's the case then what's the point of this show and why do young beautiful girls participate if it's a career suicide !!??

^ I remember hearing some quotes from industry insiders that they don't take the reality TV show "models" seriously. I know Karl Lagerfeld shunned the show.
Fact is, the girls who apply to be ANTM, most of them aren't really educated enough to know the real inside and out about the fashion industry. What we view models as is different from what the mainstream public views. Also, what real work have any ANTM winners done? Nothing that I can recall as giving them top model credentials.

^ I understand what you're saying but I can spot modeling potential when I see a girl and I'm all about high fashion , so I'm just sad because there are few girls who were on the show who definitely have potential what a loss , and let's face it the show aside from being one more thing to promote Tyra Banks is actually entertaining ^_^

^ exactly, that's what the show is: entertainment! and I agree, quite a few girls have the looks and proportions to have a decent international career, Heather and Nicole Fox for example.

Yes, it is unfortunate because there are quite a few girls who come on this show that have real potential. However, by most accounts, the industry does not want its new faces associated with a reality television program. The show is popular as entertainment, but not as a tool to scout new talent. The lucky few* will get ahead regardless.

Several winners had left their agencies (the ones that they won the contract with) not long after winning the show and the ones who stayed don't have much to show for it. Seems like a pattern. I would hope that things will go better for Nicole + Wilhelmina, but I'm not holding my breath. She will have to be determined; maybe something really good will come her way and her career will take off.

As limy mentions, a lot of these girls don't know any better (possibly the idea of being a TV show seems like fun as well). Or they do and trying out for this show is their "last chance" after being rejected through more traditional avenues.

*"Lucky" for lack of a better word -- some would say that they just have it what it takes more so than other contestants (what the industry wants re: looks/talent), but I think there are some that are clearly good but haven't enjoyed as much success.

Here is some additional pre-show work of Kara Vincent.

If these girls were really smart, they would enter into contests that are held by major modeling agencies, like the Ford contest. I think being in a reality TV show with Tyra in it makes them believe it's a big gateway into the modeling industry.

And the covergirl contract these girls get are pathetic. They're practically treated as nobodies and are side lined in commercials and advertisements next to the celebrity endorser who's making millions while they're stuck living off of a few thousand bucks for the rest of their contract.

Oh, and their first major editorial is for Seventeen magazine with a big title saying ANTM Winner? Haha. It's like the modeling version of ready-to-wear clothing.

Those contests won't even consider girls under 5'9". Talented girls like Mollie Sue and Nicole Fox would not have had a chance.

I don't think ANTM gets the credit it deserves. Most of the women who appear on the show do seem to already have previous modeling experience and have attempted to be repped by other agencies. After they appear on ANTM agenices suddenly notice their potential because they get more coaching, experience in front of the camera, and a portfolio by quality photographers instead of the cheesy glamour shots photographer at the mall.

If any of these girls had achieved success or been noticed by major agencies before ANTM then they obviously wouldn't have tried out for ANTM. All the girls on the show are handpicked by Tyra so she obviously sees potential beyond what a lot of the agencies do and is responsible in some way for aiding the careers of the girls who do go on to success.

I wonder when will they shoot the next season? I hope Tyra gets Andre Leon Talley! that would be a HUGE PLUS!!! I think she should change the prizes as well because covergirl and seventeen are so commercial...yet she keeps insisting that the winner will do well in the "high fashion industry" ugh! Tyra is absolutely delusional!

We know her patterns on ANTM:
1. Every 3 season, a black girl wins..regardless!!!
2. Winners don't repeat (ex. blonde wins, blonde won't win again next season etc.)
3. Each season she picks girls that will fit the following roles: b*tch/villain, ugly duckling/awkward girl, girl with a sob story, girl who has no personality and a black girl who does so bad but since Tyra likes "her", she saves her repeatedly

I admit I watch the show but only for entertainment value  some of the girls are good but it sucks that they got fooled and manipulated by Tyra....so sad, there should be a documentary about Tyra's delusions on ANTM..that would be so cool! She needs to change!!! that's why the fashion industry won't take her seriously...

Obviously for most of these girls, ANTM didn't help them get that top model success. Do you think Tyra out of all people, the one who opposes alot of things that go on in the modeling industry, can change the current trends by picking someone 5ft 7in? Or someone who is plus-sized? Surely this show is just for sport and pure entertainment because what Tyra sees is obviously not what the modeling industry wants.

Oh, and let's not forget that people who have worked for her aren't very fond of her. Janice and Paulina for example. So how are people in the modeling industry going to take it seriously when the only people who seem to like her are the ones who watch the show religiously and adore the hell out of Tyra because she's a kind, smart, humble woman?

Watch this interview about:

I respect Tyra as a model, and how she has become successful even though people didn't really like her body. But let's get serious, she was a model, and yet she feels she's the expert of what is going on in the modeling/fashion industry.

Don't get me wrong, she has found some great girls in the show, like Jaslene who's relentless about trying to make it big (which is very respectable), and Nicole, who's the only one really who resembles the models of today (ofcourse shorter, but she's beautiful).

Being shunned by the world of high fashion doesnt automatically render one a fashionfailure IMO. We fail to realize that the modelling industry is wide and the fact that not everyone can be a chanel or gucci model doesnt mean that they cant make a decent living off the industry.
Girls like Jaslene and Toccarra havent collaborated with Karl Lagerfield or Anna Wintour but am sur etheir earnings overshadow those of several high fashion models
