i did put in an order for choc paddy before they run out - arrival time March!

I bought a Kooba and had to return it. The whiskey color on the Paddy is so much better. It's richer in texture and in depth. There's also a brighter luster to the color than the Kooba has. The Kooba Marcelle I was looking at was utterly flat and SO DISAPPOINTING!!!! I had been wanting that bag for so long and then I ended up with the "Why bother?!?" feeling.

Get the whiskey, it's absolutely lush!

I was lusting for the Kooba Marcelle for awhile and am glad to hear you were disappointed IRL. Now I can scratch it from my want list. I was waiting for it to go on sale but even on sale it sounds like a waste of money.

I agree, the whiskey is so lush and deep and pretty. But it seems with each new batch of Paddingtons, something changes. My first whiskey wasn't too far off from last seasons paddingtons in terms of leather quality and texture. It was from the very first batch of 06 bags. However, the second batch, which my second whiskey (to be returned) and chocolate (keeping) are from both have thicker, heavier inside linings. This not only makes the bag feel heavier, but also makes the leather look stiffer. They are not as slouchy as previous batches of bags. Maybe the next batch that people are wait listed for will be different. I am okay with it because I like a bit more structure; however, someone else might think the bag looks fake at first glance.

The changes we are seeing might be bag-specific, or the newcomers to Paddingtons have no frame of reference and therefore don't notice the differences.

BTW, the 06 chocolate has a brown inside lining instead of the usual natural (off-white) color and a 10 digit serial number. My 06 whiskey has a 6-digit number. Not sure if this is batch specific though.

Where is the 6 digit number? I don't see it on my whiskey... is it on the bag or the tag? On the tag, mine has 5 digits but then I just realized that the sides were pockets too. Sometimes, I am so absent minded, it's amazing.

On a separate note, As far as the Marcelle, yeah, the picture is way better than the actual bag is in rl. another bag that is great is the Renee which the picture just doesn't do it justice. I am asking that for V-day.

From those of you that have ordered through LAV, if the bag is not shipping until March do you know if they will charge my cc now or when they actually ship the bag? (I just a Balenciaga Twiggy and my funds are a bit dry!)

The serial number is located inside the inside pocket. It's a leather tab attached to the lining that you have to dig for to find.

I have the Kooba Lucy in camel and it is gorgeous. I have been eyeing the Renee in chocolate but don't really need another brown bag. I'd like to see it in cognac but not a flat cognac like Marcelle. What color are you getting in the Renee?

They charge your card 20 days after you place your order, even if it is backordered until later than that. Hope this helps

mine turn out ok. no scratches on the hardware however, i unlocked the bag for the first time n the key has a v v small scratch on it.. i guess i can live with that... can't bear to part with my paddy.. hehee

mine's found inside the zip pocket in the paddy.

Dumb question.... what is LAV? At first I thought I was reading it as "LVR" (Luisa via roma) but reread it and realized it said "LAV". I ordered some Chloe shoes from LVR and I think it might be backordered and didn't receive replies or notification about my order status. So I'm jumping at whatever experience people have had from LVR.

BTW, I caved and pre-ordered the large paddington tote. It is big and a tad boxy but in spite of that, I'm still yearning for it. And if it's not what I expected, I can always return it.

Isn't this the zippy? It looked so huge on NAP's website but so ok on Ashlee. I was mildly interested in this but the bag leaped out of my mind when I saw how big it is. Now that I see it on Ashlee, I like it once again.

I think they use unusually small, stick figure women to model bags on LVR. The bags always look so huge on the models.

Has anyone else had to fill out a Fedex customs form to receive their bag from LVR? It seems like a pain that a person would have to fill this out everytime they received something from them. Or is this just a one time thing?

The good news is that my bag should be arriving tomorrow- yay!

Yes, I had to fill it out. After you get your bag they send you another fax, that you sign and send back. Then you get a bill.

They charged me 9% plus fees. Not too bad.
