Christian Dior F/W 05.06 Paris

omg, i think this is the first time i liked one of Galliano stuff...i really like this collection actually..:)

this is so-so. there are some things that are OK, and the rest i hate. but i do like the details.

Dior will make a killing with the accessories next season. The round-toe heels (esp. the suede slingback) are delicious. And it seems like laced-up millitary boots with a flat heel will be pretty big, since both Dior and Calvin Klein jumped on the bandwagon.

As for the show, I liked it more than usual. I normally hate Dior for its pretention, but it seems like Galliano has taken a directional change and started to show things that can actually be worn on the street. SS05 was a disaster, but this is much better. And I liked how he tried to translate some of his idea for couture to PaP (witness the embroidered puffy vests)--even though I still wouldn't touch that with a 10 ft. pole, I appreciate the effort.

The 2nd exit on Caroline Trentini (black-and-white prisoner's outfit) is really chic.

i do think the boots are interesting...but i agree that it seems a little wilted...lagerfeld/galliano are you reading this?? i'm confused...are they trying to be more marketable or what?

I'm pleased with the collection. None of the pretension, the scary make-up, and the oversized anything. But this is something that Galliano shouldn't do often (the going back to basics bit), otherwise, I'll get even more bored with him. He should start introducing new things again next season.

By the way, I sort of like his white suit. Hahaha.

I like the first two outfits, the ones on Gemma Ward and Caroline Trentini..... So casual chic.

the video is up at dior.com

its still under s/s 2005, but its the f/w collection:flower:

All I know is that piano got boring. When the little pause came I was hoping for a change to signature Dior music, you know loud and camp.

The whole audience was in such a good mood at the end, they were hooting and clapping with the music, good sign.

i can see many of these pieces in night clubs around the world though the collection as a whole does get monotonous at some level. despite being all wearable it still lacks that wow factor his collections always have. otherwise the red looks are the best of the lot IMO and the brown leather ones the worst as they seem shapeless

Only four pages? This must be the shortest Dior discussion thread...

05 fall presented at Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto on 10/9.
