Christian Dior F/W 08.09 Paris

There is a lot of Balenciaga reference in this whole collection right down to the evening gowns. ;)

I'm so confused!

I always, always look forward to Dior F/W RTW. And now I've seen it and I'm so underwhelmed. Even in collections that I don't completely love, I find one or two things I adore. But here, I'm really struggling. I'm a little sad now. :(

At least they are wearable.
That's hardly any consolation. To me, this is less wearable then John's previous 'commercial' collections of '05 and '06 because I cannot imagine anyone wearing such tasteless clothes as this. At least his previous Dior collections which had elements of wearability were usually stylish, sophisticated, creative and were well designed.

If this is what wearable means, I hope to never see a wearable collection again in my life.:sick:

omg the dresses are awful!!!! and the hair and makeup as well. only the first half of this collection is really nice and wearable.

I don't think its as bad as every else seems too. Unfortunately there's some really tacky pieces but there are some really nice pieces too. But I'm getting sick of the bright color overload and barbie-like dresses. His past few collections have been this way. This seems more like a summer collection than winter.

:sick: Color overload...if Barbie would've attended the Oscar's yesterday then she could've picked a dress right here....

OMG you took the word out of my mouth!:lol:

I hate this. -_- But it's Dior so I'm not surprised :lol:

"The Graduate" seduces again at Galliano's Dior

By Rachel Sanderson 39 minutes ago

<snip>

"As much as it is about Galliano's creativity, it is also about his economic development," Arnault told Reuters.

The transformation of Galliano from rebel designer who shocked fashionistas with his risque designs to creator of Monday's sophisticated collection is part of a gradual realignment of Dior away from twenty- and thirty-somethings to older, wealthier customers.

the good news is those old farts are dying one by one and we could only wish them dead so whoopeedoo yay yay ya hoo

Well i felt like being a bit positive. :mellow:

Why doesn't John return to his bias cutting days of Dior....where all the drama was in the cut. What could be more wearable and desirable than a stunning bias cut silk or lamé evening gown? Certainly nothing from this collection.:innocent:

wearable is such a depressing word. who cares?, I don't buy dior, therefor I don't care about the wearability of the show, especially rtw.

^^I feel the same way.

Plus...the crazy Dior of a few years back was always modified for the stores to be wearable. Why does the runway presentation have to be boring and wearable if it will be reworked for stores, anyway? Are people nowadays that unimaginative that they must see what they will buy exactly as it is on the runway.

okay! i agree with most of the comments;
BUT! this collection is actually growing well on me. Don't get me wrong the hair? is absolutly discusting and the make-up is awful. But some of the clothes are actaully very nice. If the hair was changed to straight; and not all over the place. Then i think a lot more of us would like it.

Thank you for the whole collection; and can not wait to see detail shots.

the only thing im interested right now is the shoes. i re-watched them all but this is in NO way growing on me:(

.....where are you bryanboy!? I'm hoping for some fun captions attached to these photos ;)

that hideous dress on coco rocha makes her look enormous!

gurl you know i used to be 100% galliano gurl but galliano gurl i am no more.

i mean seriously. the only good thing out of this collection was masha tylenol opening the show.

some of the dresses, particularly the blue shiny shift dress on one of the first pages of this thread was screaming "DONATELLA VERSACE ***"

it's interesting, this shift of influence. donatella is riding high and she got her mojo back whereas galliano...

well.. just look at what he wore when he took his final bow.

and emily?

that's all!

Ugg.
I like some of the b&w pieces, to be honest. But only because they remind me of Chanel :ninja:
The rest sucks pretty much (even though I like Morgane's outfit :lol: )

Bad materials, horrible colours and bad cuts. No.
