F/W 17 Campaign Wishlist & Model Casting Discussion, Guesses and Reactions

We also can't say that their brand of glamour and sexiness is passé because they actually haven't been doing that for the past 3/4 seasons now.

I agree. They went from this:

To this:

fashiongonerogue, popsugar, givenchy, models.com

I wonder if they would have kept those clients had they not abandoned the over-saturated, sexy style. Even Vogue Paris is not using them regularly anymore. If Tisci takes over Versace they'll probably start shooting it again.

Also, dearest Alessandro Michele????

Wait, what?? The return of the Gucci girl!! :woot:

Quite frankly, I'm happy M&M are notably absent this season. If only they could take a longer break! They need it. We also can't say that their brand of glamour and sexiness is passé because they actually haven't been doing that for the past 3/4 seasons now. Their new style is very similar to what we are currently being flooded with. Cold, sterile, vaguely artsy.

My dearest Alessandro Michele launched a perfume recently, we should see a campaign for that sometime soon as well. Hope it's not Hari Nef.

Sorry to disappoint you, the campaign will feature Hari Nef, Dakota Johnson and Petra Collins...

I'm sure they would have kept some of those clients or maybe added new ones.
They were able to deliver very sexy campaigns but also a lot of subtle ones like the MiuMiu ones. I loved what they did for MiuMiu.

I really believe that it's important to maintain your distinctive style.

Look at I&V, Weber or even Meisel. People work with them because they know it will never look like someone else's work.
Their more recent work doesn't have any identity at all and maybe they became a little bit too famous. It kinda became all about them instead of about their work...Hanging out with Madonna and Riccardo and around all the celebrities they attract damaged their work for me.

Thanks, Sixt!

My personal opinion? There will always be a spot in fashion for rich, glossy and sexy-style photography just like Lindbergh and his b&w photos. Thing with M&M is that around the same time they were flooded with campaigns and magazines, they switched over. It is my thinking that they've done this on their own accord? We cannot even reason that it was an attempt to get more work.

Progression is always good, but this was way too huge a gap.
When you look at the latest VF cover with Angelina you can tell that Jessica Diehl (who most likely styled that shoot) probably demanded something glossy and classic. They definitely would've kept the likes of Armani, who is more traditional in every sense, if they continued in this vein.

Come to think of it, this new style of theirs started at Givenchy.....

Love Michele! He's such a force. I don't generally care for most Italian brands (too overrated!), but what he's doing at Gucci is epic. It was somewhat comical to see how many liked his new AW campaign, yet waiting for the 'bubble to burst'. It will, of course. But I'm just going to enjoy it while it last.

Vittoria and Kiki were the campaign queens last season, and this season vitto is not doing as well as last season, while kiki remains strong. (talking about main lines)

FW 17

Kiki (8)

Prada, CK, MJ, Diesel, BOSS, Sies Marjan, Ferretti and Coach

Vitto (2)
Versace and Zara

SS 17

Kiki (11)

CK by appointment/american classics/watches/jeans, Top Shop, Sonia Rykiel, Hugo, Zara, Prada, Jimmy Choo and Sacai.

Vitto (7)
Ralph Lauren, Bottega, Zara, McQueen, Fendi, Givenchy and Ferretti.

I can honestly see Vittoria fading within a season or two. Her hype will die.
While I think girls like Faretta and Birgit will be everywhere next season. (faretta is already doing really well with 5 campaigns this season)

You can only hope
Btw this season Faretta has 7 campaigns (Frame, Sacai, Lanvin, Sandro, Valentino, Coach, Zara)
Kiki 6 (no Prada and no Sies Marjan)
and Vittoria also has Ralph Lauren, DG cosmetics, Chanel cosmetics, Tiffany fragrance, so I think she's more than fine.

^ Her Sies Marjan by Theo Wenner was a 'Special Project'. The mainline campaign shot by Bruce Weber and there's no Kiki in it.

And I think Prada was shot right after the show. Don't think it's a campaign.

If Vittoria plays her cards right, she could still dominate next season. I'm personally already over Faretta. Some of her campaigns are good, some not. I know Lanvin is in a bad spot, but it doesn't mean she shouldn't deliver.

Both her Prada and her Sies Marjan ads are exactly that, ads. Not the main campaigns, of course, but campaigns. So they count while making a list.
Then we can debate whether Kiki's list is better or worse than Faretta's, but they clearly are the queens of the season. Bella has the same amount of campaigns as Faretta, but...it's another story

Meisel heavily backs Faretta though so until he's infatuated with another girl, she isn't going anywhere. Rianne is shooting full force all over the place so at least she'll be back next season. Im personally a bit Vittoria saturated, girl is EVERYWHERE.
I wonder what girl breaks this into little group next season.

You can only hope

People probably thought the same about Frederikke and Rianne when they were everywhere and dominating, just a few seasons ago.

I know people will bring up Rianne's leg incident, but even before that, she was already fading from campaigns, covers and especially editorials.

So, yeah, I can definitely see Vitto fading soon. The fact that she only has 2 campaigns (rtw) speaks for itself. She was the girl of the season, last season. This one is all about Faretta. (Charlee Fraser is also doing pretty well, but nobody really cares about her.)

I'm just surprise with Jess and Jessie. Top walkers and yet no campaign so far. I was really hoping Jess would have a strong campaign season, considering she MURDER during resort. :(

I think Vitto is totally fine. She might only have 2 rtw campaigns but she was busy enough shooting as she has some big things under her belt: beauty campaign for Chanel, a new fragrance campaign for Tiffany by Meisel (who is still one of the greatest supporter of vitto), major Vogue covers (Paris, US, Japanx3). Kiki has more rtw campaigns and has been more consistent in that, but if you look at the whole thing she lacks some things that vittoria is doing, especially covers. Vitto's the muse of Luigi and Iango, she's supported by the most powerful casting directors (Piergiorgio and Ashley), she's loved by big photographers.. I think she will not fade anytime soon. And Kiki will not fade either, as she is supported by all the big names too. They are just developing two different kinds of careers, with Vittoria being more popular with the public (she's really loved by many people, just look at instagram ) and Kiki being more quiet, more the mysterious high fashion model (which is great )

See, this was my thinking as well! It's the magazine jobs keep these girls relevant and on people's radar. Jess for me is proof that you can walk until the artery veins show, but if you don't have magazine support you'll basically get nowhere. It's here where the girls will get paired with a stylist, photographer or editor. And if they're a fit, the collaboration will kick off. I don't think Jess even shot for Vogue Australia yet, but then again Australians aren't as patriotic as the Italians, I suppose.

Faretta will be fine. Myu issue with her is just that I've never seen that WOW edit or campaign. Max Mara was good last season, but really not exceptional.

Net-a-porter: Luna Bijl, Mayowa Nicholas, Jing Wen and Radhika Nair by Gregory Harris

The Ralph Lauren campaign's in the September issue of British Vogue, and I'm 100% certain the model is Faretta.

So what are we waiting on? Alexander Wang. I hope Issa Lish got that campaign.

Such a stale campaign season.

Oh I know! Perhaps the stalest I've seen in a while. Too much Faretta and too much Willy Vanderperre. I know it's only two, but these two for me are so omnipresent right now.
