Lanvin for H&M (Update....Second Collection?)

Does anyone know what is the queue system for the London launch tomorrow? I can't find anything on their website!

For those people who plan on buying stuff on eBay: I don't really get it, why would anyone pay three times as much for those H&M items when you could probably get a "real" Lanvin dress for the same price? It all seems really odd to me.
By now I'm so turned off by this whole thing that I'll only check out my local H&Ms at 10am to see if there is anything left instead of lining up at 8am as I had planned to do before.

Reason being...there are that many stupid people out there who are prepared to get rip off like that. I think H&M themselves are part of the whole thing...if they do what Uniqlo did for the +J, this whole eBay shenanigan wouldn't have happen!

Accessibility. There aren't any Lanvin boutiques in the USA. they're only available at Barney's, and even if an ebay seller charges 3X the price for the H&M Lanvin pieces, that's still far cheaper than what you'd find a similar Lanvin piece for at Barney's. Obviously the real Lanvin is better materials.

Not to be argumentative but there's a gorgeous boutique (men's and women's) at CityCenter in Las Vegas...and (I believe) one in New York and Bal Harbour.

thanks everyone about the tulle dress info!:flower: I thought too that it came in three colors black, red and grey but apparently the black is actually grey..glad because it limits my options even more!^_^

right now there are 3,377 lanvin for H&M items on ebay and 650 "completed auctions".

thats a total of 4027 (not counting items that were relisted or pulled).

i think its safe to infer that over half of the shoppers on saturday were buying for ebay to re-sell. especially considering that items were in short supply (ie 15 glasses for each store, 10 pairs of shoes for each store etc.) does anyone else agree with this hypothesis?

this is probably true.

my husband wanted to buy things to re-sell and i was the fashion hippie telling him to leave things for other people (we only bought things for ourselves and my sister). the store were were at was very comfortable to shop at and by no means a mad panic because they implemented the 15 minute shopping per colored-wristband perfectly. my husband was pushing me to buy more and telling me just to get what i kind of wanted and then we could sort it out at home (and sell whatever i decided against), but i was just out to get what i came for.

the more i think about it, the more i realize the middle-aged white guy probably wasn't shopping for his GF/wife when he was walking around with three floral print dresses and the two poorly dressed, mousy-looking gals (sorry but true, and if i can't say it on this forum, where can i say it?) in front of me went to men's and grabbed whatever the could because they didn't care what they were walking out of there with, just that they walked out with SOMETHING they could flip on ebay.

i don't know why i thought the people there were actually fashion/lanvin fans. alber is my favorite designer and i have a few lanvin collection pieces and plenty of shoes. i feel the man does not compromise when it comes to his vision for the house and i love that. it's sophisticated with a sense of whimsy and i was so excited to see others get so excited over items they may not otherwise be able to enjoy wearing. i know, i know, it's not REAL lanvin, but few will ever be able to afford a dress that costs 3K and $200 is a pretty easy way to feel just as special when the rest of the items in your closet top out at 50 bucks. of course i guess they were more excited over the notion of the almighty dollar. this entire industry exists because of hype, brand names and high profit for a low investment, so the designer collaborations illustrate this to the fullest.

with the dresses, i was not a fan of the quality of any except the floral prints and even then did not feel they were worth the money. when i thought about selling one of the ghastly pink or yellow dresses, i just thought about a teenage girl in middle america spending double the face value of the dress only to open the package and realize it's a piece of junk. i just couldn't do that to someone. god, i am a loser.

good luck to all of you who will be courageously going to h&m today. May you purchase what you've been lusting for through this thread! :flower: :D

Indeed.

I'm still amazed by the fact people feel they are getting real Lanvin and not H&M.:lol:
No one thinks that. Mainline Lanvin pieces are obviously better constructed and, well, a lot better looking :ninja: Quality-wise though...I still don't get why you'd pay $3000 for a polyester gown. The garment you are getting is not worth the $2800 price difference IMO. I do love Lanvin, but that doesn't mean that I think the prices are reasonable. What exactly do you get for the $2800? Nothing.

can't get on the online shop it's too "crowded" apparently

stuff isn't meant to go on sale for 20 mins! what's going on :(

The traffic on the site is going to be HUGE. The whole of Europe is going to be trying to do the same thing..

That is a possibility. I'm on the main Lanvin page where you can see the pieces, and you can press "buy now"...hoping that will work

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I've seen real Lanvin dresses in the LVR sale for around 700$. So if people can stock up on multiple H&M dresses or pay horrendous prices on eBay and if they only do it because it's "Lanvin" then they could easily save up for the real thing, too?
I'm not doubting that there are people who really just buy the dresses because they actually love them, of course. But so far it looks like most people are just buying stuff because they believe the hype.

i just became one of the ppl selling on ebay and i'll tell you why: i was on vacation when the line launched so i sent my friend to buy the yellow one-shoulder dress for me, which she did... in the wrong size. i desperately want the dress still and i'd be happy with a trade, but there's no such place for that so i'm putting it on ebay so that someone else who really wants the dress can have a chance. if no one buys it, i'll just return it to the store. but i'm not doing it because of the hype or to make money -- if the dress had fit, i'd keep it and wear it to death.

It was already a line outside the biggest H&M where I live at 7. I do feel a little bit bad for them since it's pretty cold outside today..
