Lanvin for H&M

I've been back to the store this morning.

I finally got access to the " Lanvin pour H&M". WHAT A DECEPTION...

The pieces look tacky in real, the length of the dress is too short, bad, really BAD, finishings ( have you seen that ugly big zipper stichted on the dress, not even inside !!!), there is a big difference between the photoshoot and the pieces in real. And everybody is gonna wear the same dress for New Year's eve, that's gonna be epic going into a club and watching 15 brainless chicks dancing with their fugly Lanvin for H&M.

the unfinished hemlines and the exposed, big zippers are part of Alber's vision for Lanvin. if you find issue with that, you'd also find issues with the non-H&M stuff, unless the higher pricetag makes you blind to such details.

the fur pieces are amazingly soft, the t-shirts with the embroidery are crazy intricate (flipped inside out, you really see all the work that went into it), most pieces are made out of silk. a friend of mine who bought 2 of the more questionable (imo) pieces (that's the HUGE flower print mini dress with the puffy shoulders and the black one with the boxy sleeves) said both dresses did strange things to her body, she simply said 'THEY. LOOK. AMAZING. ON!' and ran to the cash register.

is everything great? no. the big, red/charcoal dress has a really odd fit, the ruffled all over dress is made of polyester (maybe cause it holds the ruffles better), some of the shoes are not that great and the leather of the men's shoes wrinkles like it's noone's business.

it's near impossible to find a fashion collection without the obligatory bad apples, and of course there's a few here too, given how small the collection is.

if you're really only criticizing for criticism's sake, then good for you. sure hope you also have better things to do in life.

No, they all have their own. I saw that everything was sold out in Sweden today, when there was still a few things left in Norway

I see, thanks :flower:. I think I'll keep an eye on the webstore anyway, because people often return or regret their buys.

I agree with everything you said. The fact that this is probably the only guest collection h&m has had with actual quality, speaks for it self. I remember buying from the Matthew Williamson collection and the blouse was ruined the day after. I've only heard good things about the quality on these clothes and as you said the things some complain about is a part of Alber's design

I wonder why H&M didn´t make more quantities of the clothing? this was a sure win win for them...

well, that's called marketing.....creating a need....

not only H&M, but all labels use this strategy to enhance sales. Do something with "limited edition" on it, and in most cases it'll sell by itself.

Not entirely true....

I'm still very happy with my purchases from the CdG-collab, that trench is just amazing in quality.
For the same price of 150EUR, I'd rather go for a trench coat that you can wear in both spring and fall for several years than a dress maybe for only 1-2 occasions.

IMHO, the weakness of this Lanvin-collab is that it lacked pieces that you can wear in daily life.
of course, if you wear cocktail dresses to work every day, then you probably don't mind. :winkiss:

I must agree with Squiz. When I first got my dress (black one-sholdered ruffle) I though WTF is this crap. Then I put it on...it was simply amazing. It a cotton/poly blend, the fabric is VERY thick and sturdy so it holds the shape and I thought I'd hate it. But I didn't, it just looks awesome.

I know but the limited edition that has been mentioned is one thing and the other is that even though it's still mass market h&m the fewer pieces available makes it high fashion-y in a small way. I mean in my country it was only available in 4-5 stores each carrying 10 pieces per item. So even if every girl bought my dress that's only 49 more people wearing it..so that's a relief, because it won't be like a poster before said that the parties would be swarmed with people wearing Lanvin for HM this Christmas :D

Are you guys serious? What kind of quality did you expect from H&M?

I thought they were really well made for the price and my friends who tried them on loved the fit. The only thing I thought looked cheap was the black fabric dress.

i think the best quality trench coat i've seen so far is the one from the V&R collection. if it would have been double breasted, i would have definitely bought it. but i really liked the fabric, details and removable lining.

i passed on the blue coat from the men's collection (Lanvin) cause the fit wasn't all there. the beige hooded jacket fit me well, but the 100% polyester thing was a slight disappointment. for coats i'd stick to Zara, since they seem to have mastered cutting perfectly flattering coats for men.

if i were a girl, i would have definitely gotten that fur jacket, dress with jeweled neckline, everything with the flower brooches, 2 of the t-shirts and that black dress with the ribbons on.

Lucas Ossendrijver and i don't seem to see eye to eye

Which one do you have in mind?
I was dissapointed when I saw the black power-shouldered dress (also the other ones, but I specifically wanted this one), but the fit is great IMO.

I wish we had h&m here. I love the red necklace so I checked ebay yesterday to see if anyone was selling it  and the prices! :judge: I'm honestly appalled right now.

Funny, imo the db coat was the strongest piece, the fit to me was perfect, and appearance high quality although poly/wool fabric!

however the navy wool blazer with gros grain trim and matching pants i got will need several tailoring adjustments... after what i am confident they will look stunning!

the men's shoes, well i own the originals ( from ss08 if i remember correct ) and yes of course the leather is day and night, og's had a thick buttery made in italy calf which still haven't hardly creased after like 500 wears, whereas the h&m ones permanently creased while TRYING them on in store , i still got them since the og's are my favorite dress shoes and the h&m's cost 1/8th the price and the shape is practically identical ( only cosmetic difference is the inset heel on og's are khaki acetate instead of black leather.. ).

overall a few really nice pieces for men, a lot of really weak ones as well.. was pretty impressed by quality and construction for made in china h&m, probably due to a lot of 100% materials! definitely a step above +J imo :innocent:

^Was the menswear made in China? My dress was made in Romania...I own a lot of H&M stuff, and none of it is made in China.

Yep, the stuff i got anyways was all MIC... just checked my gf's stuff, her 100% silk dress is MIC, and her poly blend black skirt is made in romania...

I'm conflicted. My sister picked up the pink one shouldered dress for me today and I was shocked by the texture of the fabric. Even more shockingly - it's silk! It just didn't feel that way, I thought it felt like rough linen. I know it's probably because they treated the fabric or something, but what's wrong with normal smooth silk? Not fashionable enough? I still adore the design though, but it didn't fit me well, so it's going back.

Can anyone tell me if the purple version is identical, just in a different colour?

a lot of silk or sequined pieces from H&M are made in China.
other stuff are often from Romania, Bulgaria, Vietnam, occasionally also India.

Silk can be made in a variety of ways. And I LOVE the texture! If it was really smooth, it would hold the shape that it does without extra stuff.

The purple one ( which i bought) is identical. I'm sorry that you're returning it!

I GOT THE YELLOW DRESS, YAY yay yay! I just wanted to go to the store to buy tights and to see if there was something left, and there it was hanging, the yellow dress. There were actually quite many dresses left. The SA said that according to many customersthe colours were too vibrant and the shapes not practical enough. I just loved the colours and was really surprised, how good the quality seemed to be!

I'm so happy!

educo, I saw the purple one in the store, it was GORGEOUS! Unfortunately it was the only one and wrong size, otherwise I would've at least tried it on.

went to oxford street

I had a stupid idea to rely on online buying then the website was down
from 6am so decided to travel down to london from cambridge at 7!
got there at 8 and was allowed for entry at 10.

pretty much everything was there except the flowery dress.
was only interested in dresses and got all of them in my size which was good.

quality-wise, you cant really argue with 100 pounds, can you?

I took some pictures. what do you think :-)

I'm not returning because of the texture, although, it did surprise me. But once I put on the dress, I realised the dress wouldn't keep its shape if the fabric didn't have the rough texture. I am returning though, because it's too expensive for me when the fit isn't perfect and because I know I won't wear it often enough. I've ordered the tees - I just love the intricate details and I think I will get more wear out of them.
