Marc Jacobs F/W 08.09 NYC

it is not VERY GOOD, or GENIUS, and all that... but still not bad at all...
i quite like the mood of the whole thing

some people say that marc will always get great critics just because it's marc jacobs, but if it really wasnt good, how would he get that? who is he? some powerful capo blackmailing the press? i think he really is credited for the work he does, and not for his name.
maybe just because he is somewhat different to what everybody else does
(all the above apply to miuccia)

So everyone who gets good press or fame gets it because they're talented? Wouldn't that be a wonderful world to live in :innocent::innocent:

I personally can't stand the jewelery. It looks like cheap costume jewelery from the 1980s. And it's way too over-the-top with no substance. Plastic, sterling and fake pearls? :yuk:

I like it, it's very interesting, but not very Marc. It reminds me of the way my mother used to dress in the 80's, with soft pinks and beige in velvety/suede-like sumptuous fabrics. The accessories and final gowns remind me of Xanadu. I think Halston really needed those accessories. I really hate the shoes and stockings though, not flattering at all.

i watched the video and kind of get the theme.
Overall, the most wearable or manage pieces are the tops, be it a blouse or a sweater, the little volume and pleats on the back make the entire outfit interesting.
Several pants are very YSL to me, and I don't think that they are flattering.
Coats demonstrate what he was trying to do, but again, not flattering or wearable at all.
The overall mood though, I agree with some of the folks here, is very Marc. Love the fabric and color choice. It's not a spectacular show to me but it's very interesting.

I liked only the two blueish long dresses, the rest was so unflattering and all I saw was KANKLES, KANKLES,KANKLES!!!!!!

I like the accessories and a couple of blouses and skirts/trousers.
Except for that I am so dissapointed - I hope he gets back on track next season

Hmm. He puts on a good "show" but this collection is lacking unlike any other MJ show I've seen...

I like this but not really sure why. It's got a cool feeling to it! ^_^

I still love this collection even a day after  the jewelery is fantastic aswell, and i think the shoes fit so well, overall even if i had no idea who made this i would call MJ,you can see him in detail shoots, but i think spring/summer was much much better.

after seeing the entire collection, i really like it. the jewelry is glamorous and everything is quite dark and chic. there are so ugly pieces, like the shoes and most of the hats, but that's marc.

although there´s nothing really exciting there are some pieces that I like, f.e. the coats of the begining of the shows, very late 80s... but agree with the ppl who thinks he has lost something.

night dresses of the end are pretty horrible!

i dont like it either.
the concept of the actual show was really cool.
but the clothes were unflattering. the shoes were old looking.
but i did like those short sleeved oversized sweaters and a couple of looks overall.
as a whole, i hate it. which is weird because i love mj.
but the things i did like i LOVE

I liked it---but i want to see a tape of the copllection before I have my final opinion.
things look soo different when its shown to you on a moving form as opposed to a flat still shot.
I loved hte last ppieces, the pant looks and the ultra long quality--- the margiela influence. Marc said in an internview that he loves margiela.

Awful. And I hated the mood. It just makes you want to cover up and be abstinent. Actually, the only outfit I liked was the one Lera wore.

The jewelry was intriguing, but the hats, seriously? Hideous :yuk: Bags look okay, maybe in a different setting, because I have a hard time getting past the ****tiness of this show, Marc you really disappoint this season :judge:

i think it moves quite well, there's something kind of intriguing about the way the volume was played with. it only felt more 80s because of the styling, esp with said volume and the lack of height to give it real drama. the colors kept the mood calm, even with the music. i kind of felt he would use the next collection to refresh his manifestos, remind people of what he's about. he's one of the few this fashion week to not simply revel in producing american sportswear (kors, halston, blass) but understanding the ease and comfort it champions, connecting it particular places and times and mixing it all up to make something that, though it inevitably looks back, also feels modern. he jettisoned the shop worn ideas about luxury that fashion has overdosed on and produced a collection with a certain slant on mystery, on what's going on underneath these clothes.

not a fan.

the show is fun because it's such an event, but the collection this season is meh. the shapes are awful, as are the colors. i cannot see this translating well to the client at all.

I love the accesories they're the best thing in this collection and the bags aren't completely awful either, but what is going on with the clothes??? I am yet again very disappointed at Marc but hey at least is a step up from his horrendous spring collection
