Marc Jacobs F/W 08.09 NYC

This is VERY late 70s and 80s,its not about beautiful clothes at all,or even about them looking flattering, thats not Marcs goal i think. He is making a statement with this collection rather then being to concerned with the marketing and selling sides of it.But the best thing is,no matter how ugly, this is NOT weak or inconsistent, each pieces is very well designed and thought about.

its a bit boring and too austere , give or take a few dresses , most of these clothes look made for an eccentric grandma , oversized wool sweaters with relaxed seat pants and kmart heels ........not a fan esp after high octane collections delivered by his rivals

What statement is that? No sarcasm, just curious.

I guess it smart just to wait for the Video on the site
and Mrs. Menkes review to really get both sides
of what this all is (Good and the Bad aspects).
Im sure half of everybody will be in love with it come Monday.
till then... Id say its just bleh to me.

the shape of the shoulders in the last dress of #87 is all sorts of 80s wrong to me :|

hehe...i really like it...:P

not crazy about the styling with the silly headgear and nude hosiery...

but the clothes look pretty great imo...:flower:

I like the look Elsa Sylvan is wearing. I really want to know the inspiration behind this so I can understand it better.

I was expecting to love this collection, but so far I'm somewhat disappointed.

I don't know what to think about this. I like some of the greys. But, YAY! Sonic Youth!

the shiney maxi dress/tunic is very similar to what Karl did at Chloe in the 70s lol , its my fav piece

Well spotted! :woot: Exactly what I was thinking.

I really like this, so far. Very relevant, IMO.

Love most of the proportions, the 'snoods', the jewellery and some of the shoes. :D

Very early '80s.
