The Model Agency Mega Thread

Patiently waiting for Society to update their website :ermm:

Yeah me too, I cant believe they make Ming Xi missing fashion week :(

And I saw in a blog saying that The Society NY is brand of Elite Paris ? I'm kinda confused cuz I thought Elite New York & Paris has partnership ? I'm sorry for such newbie question cuz I never notice about agency stuff :(

Elite Paris and Elite NYC used to be part of the same network, but the NYC office was sold right after there was a drug scandal concerning models at the NYC agency in the late 90s.
Since then they have been separate operations and they have had virtually no relationship. That's why Elite Paris worked closely with Marilyn, Ford and NY Models in NYC until recently when the Elite Paris owners decided to return to the NYC market. They originally opened the Elite NYC office. So now you have Society.

I dont think the society is having ming xi miss fashion week, pretty sure she will show up somewhere

As for elite ny and elite paris, they are owned by completely different people. Think of it like burger king (odd comparison, I know) but they are not all owned by the same people. Elite is just a name. Elite europe has the same owner and since they havent been working with elite ny, they wanted an office there. They cant use name elite since someone else owns it in the united states, so viola you have the society.

oh my god, u guys r amazing, I dont have to google this stuff since u guys gave me clear explanation :D

I just hope Ming Xi pop up somewhere too but it seems Society didnt have show package for fashion week since I cant find her showcard ..

Interesting because there was a instagram showing Ming Xi sitting with 2 Society bookers here in Ny a couple days ago.

So what agencies are now really good for new faces? Ford is out of the question. Is Elite any better now?

Seems to me DNA, Next, and IMG seem to be pushing out the newer faces that are doing well.

^New York Models is having a dream season with the Sam/Chiharu/Tess trio; The Society in their first season has Manuela Frey who opened Calvin Klein; Women/Supreme are still killing it with Katya R, Maartje, and Sasha Luss - though I think Women might only get half of the credit for Sasha because she is with Elite in Europe and had her resurgence during couture with Elite Paris.

All in all it's still a pretty good distribution of great new faces amongst the NY agencies. Ford is actually still staying afloat with Kremi/Ashleigh Good (Though neither brand new) and Joanna Tatarka. Elite has a couple of great, cool faces like Alana Bunte and Emma Oak...though both are just doing well, not incredibly stellar, on the runway so far.

I'm only still wondering why they're all running to The Society. Is Elite Europe so good?

Does anyone have more info on a potential bankrupt of Oui Mgmt (Paris)?

Oui supposedly has a relationship with Elite NYC and they place each other's girls with the other agency, so if Oui goes under, Elite NYC loses an important feeder agency in Europe.

Oh, really? I never noticed... And have you got any idea about the kind of this relationship? Does it work through some particular bookers who worked together in the past or it's been just a business decision?

Just a standard biz relationship where Elite NYC places girls it has signed with Oui for representation in Paris and Oui places girls it has signed for representation in NYC. It's no different from Women NYC and Women Paris, or IMG NYC and IMG Paris, except, of course, Oui and Elite NYC is more fluid since they're not part of the same "family."

Well, normally, the agencies in different markets have this kind of relationship when the bookers know each other so well that even an exotic concept of "mutual trust" might be involved  Your examples of the networks' offices in different markets illustrate my point pretty well. The same with DNA/Viva, NYM/Nathalie etc....
While this might me the case for 1MM/Oui relationship, I wonder how Elite NY with their new team got into this with Oui. Or did I miss something?

I believe this has something to do with Gerald Marie, former chairman of Elite Paris who joined Oui in 2012. This also explains a lot of big switches from Elite Paris to Oui last year
