UK Vogue April 2021 : Achenrin, Precious, Mona & Janaye by Steven Meisel

Stunning covers, finally than Ed put models are the cover girls because it's getting boring to see celebrities & wait to see the whole editorials & other spreads.

That first shot with Achenrin & the one with Janaye in red are absolutely glorious! Imagine those as the covers.. the ed is stunning wish it was longer. And more Precious, please!

Ugh, why am I so underwhelmed by the cover editorial? The one girl walk up and down and got the most shots, but only 2 for Precious?
I'm not even being biased but the editorial should've gone to Achenrit (that 2nd shot!) and Precious. the other two adds nothing to the story.

And thank God for the Meisel cover and edit, because the two McDean edits look so amateur! Can't believe these were shot by the same guy who did the VI cover editorial.

They did the same in that multicover from december 2018. Saffron and Adut only got 2 shots and Primrose like 6 or 8.

Someone needs to have a heart to heart with Dena and tell her styling is not the career path for her

I'm getting Market Editor vibes from Dena's work. Great at sourcing pieces and pulling shoots together, but not great at actual styling. It's a different skillset.

She is just like Joanna from Bazaar, friend with the boss and no skill to style, but became style director haha

I LOVE the cover story, in print it will be even better-- the colors of these here look a bit dulled compared to the previews.

The 2 McDean eds don't look like his work at all, and the casting of them doesn't make sense-- Amber in that styling+setting?? + Binx there, I would have even swapped them.

Managed to get myself all four covers today without the hassle! As expected, each cover looks just as glorious on the shelves as it does online. A real shame the issue wasn't priced at £2 this month, though. Typical for us collectors!

Meisel's cover feature is the highlight of the issue, best editorial I've came across inside British Vogue since Kate Moss for January. A real handful of beautiful and memorable images, like the one of Precious in the lilac Bottega Veneta dress, the one of Mona wearing the yellow trench and Achenrin's opening shot. Meisel magic right before our very eyes, and I genuinely couldn't ask for me.

It's a good issue. Not great, but hey. We truly live in "beggars can't be choosers" editorial era (although I'm so grateful for the more genuine embracing of BAME models these days, especially after a week that has further illuminated the frustrating underlying levels of elitism, racism and white arrogance that still exist in the United Kingdom ).

Mona stole the cover editorial - I'm not sure that it would have been worth publication without her. Such a shame Precious got shafted with only two shots. Hopefully Meisel will shoot her again soon (Zara would be nice!) I have to say that beyond the nuanced, classy throwback white studio close-up portraits that he does for the cover of the mag, Meisel's work for UK Vogue is quite forgettable, like a catalogue with minimal stylistic variations - a goth vibe here, a Bowie reference there etc. I love his studio images, but Edward doesn't push him at all. I've also noticed Mary Howard is basically always absent from Steven's UK Vogue work, a real shame as she can bring something even to the most straight forward of his eds to enhance the ambiance and set.

Anyway, I think I definitely want Precious and Anchenrin's covers at least; good thing I've got a birthday coming up, because it's definitely been vexing to see these not stamped with a £2 sticker, as vogue28 says.

Mona and Precious left no crumbs. Cant wait to get my hands on this!

Precious needs an OG shoot by Meisel or M&M stat

That Meisel ed, oh wow! He’s the OG, truly the king of photography. The rest is meh, looks amateur when compared. Sometimes his studio shoots are bland and do miss that energy, but this one sure has it. I just wanna join all those girls and have a fun day!

All were good, but the rest three don’t compare to Mona. She absolutely slayed it.
