US Vogue February 2014 : Lena Dunham by Annie Leibovitz

This is just as bad as the fake cover, for crying out loud, how is this supposed to work for Vogue readers? It looks like Rolling Stones cover or something!

Very disappointing, but i do like seeing her on the cover, its a nice change from usual suspects, shame they didn't bother doing something interesting with her.

If this was Rolling Stone, she'd be naked and the title would probably say something like "Why Lena just can't keep her clothes on" or something equally stupid.

poor lena, this is almost a disgrace. i was so looking forward to seeing her cover and this is it?

she looks good in that prada dress, why couldn't they use it for the cover??

If they really really had to put her on the cover than I think this was the right way.
She looks so stiff and uncomfortable in big feminine gowns that it would be an even bigger disaster if they did a glamorous shoot with her. At least in the quirky side she can look good and at least its a new direction for the magazine.
The editorial is just other world bad.

it´s weird to see a Vogue cover and not see a celeb looking sexy or alluring...
she reminds me of a young Carrie Fisher.

Lena looks really pretty on the cover, I like the way they styled her for both the cover and the editorial. She especially looks glamourous in the black dress, my first thought when I saw it was, "now that's the kind of looks she should be going for instead of massive ball gowns, it suits her so much." So while I'm not a fan of hers I do think she looks quite lovely here.

I admit I liked the cover. And I'm very happy to see her on it.

I applaude Anna for putting her on the cover and I like the direction they have taken with her. She just doesn't photograph well, and every picture shows how uncomfortable she feels being photographed. the cover and editorial give me the very same impression of her that her red carpet appearances and girls give me. she is smart, quirky and fun, but not that good looking and she knows it. I feel that for once a celeb looks authentic in the pages of vogue, and for me this has to do a lot with how they styled and shot her, the setting and the deer-in-the-headlight expression work in my opinion.
In fact, this is the only kind of celeb shoot I like to see in a fashion magazine. Why style and photoshop an actress to look as glamorous and possibly soulless as a model when you could as well have booked a model?

Well her cover is awkward and weird with that facial expressions. The ed could be nicer if it doesnt look so fake. The photoshop is really bad, it looks like obviously she was cut from another shot and pasted into those backgrounds.

The cover is quirky and cute, but I'm not a fan of Lena's.

This is better than I expected, I must say that I like it :P

I like it personally, I think it's a great representation of her actual personality/persona. I'm glad to see her hear. I'm not wild on the editorial shot but the cover, I enjoy!

I absolutely adore the cover and I am far from a Lena fan. Her eyes are really arresting and always have been for me so I love that there is a focus on their expression. The rest of her editorial falls flat in comparison.

Of course it's a head shot. Of course. And I know I've
Expressed this sentiment before here but I find it increasingly irritating how easy these young starlets score covers when older actresses with twenty times the work have little to no chance of getting a feature. If they wanted to feature a tv actress Why not Jessica Lange? She's having something of a career renaissance right now with American Horror story and could pull of all kinds of dramatic fashion. Or Julia Louis Dreyfus? She did just win an Emmy. We need variety!!
