US Vogue May 2016 : Taylor Swift by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

That Manus X Machina ed looks like a continuation of Rianne's VI spread, just in a sci-fi setting.

I just saw this issue in newsstands.. I just couldn't.

Meisel has an ed in this issue? It wasn't in the review so this was a great surprise. And its a perfect Met feature, as always.

Great photography from Meisel, but once again, was the weird effect on top of it really necessary? It makes hard to see the details and cheapens the work.

The Meisel ed looks like someone got a copy of a magazine, and took some preview snaps of the editorial... It's bizarre.

It's criminal to only use Meisel once a year.

Maybe this feature isn't even in the issue, otherwise Kroqjock would've noticed it, surely?

I like the concept, but this is really Klein's forte, not Meisel's. It's a bit half-baked. There are quite a few flaws starting with the casting of Rianne who, as stellar as she may be, just doesn't fit the 'machina' aesthetic for this story. Her features are too classical for this. Then you have the styling which doesn't truly convey the concept of technological applications in fashion. Where's that famous Balenciaga SS 07 collection? And lastly you have guys standing around with rope LED (an extremely dated product, btw)?

Yeah, the quality of the images are weird. Was it probably cut from the issue last minute?

I guess that was the point of the ed though. To have a Pre-Raphaelite beauty in clothing from that era surrounded by "sci-fi" characters. I love it.

It's a pity that it was cut then. It's miles better than the garbage we see in US Vogue monthly.

these multi girls studio eds with models and some random chicks are same boring and overused in US Vogue as romantic model + actor eds. its like the same ed again and again. even Raymond Meier and Santisi eds were more creative than this

I was going to write the exact same thing.

I really can't tell them appart. It's ALWAYS the same. And it's always beyond awful. So pointless.

Meisel's ed doesn't excite me. It's boring. And that filter is terrible. Also, I can't get over how a bad model Rianne is. I love her physique but she has zero skills. Hope she improoves, cause she's amazing, but she adds nothing to her stories.
