Victoria's Secret models going high fashion!

one of the biggest travesty to ever happen to the high fashion world :(

but I am happy this trend is waning down. and they are returning to the young talented high fashion modeling trend

Your opinion has become painfully clear already  I know it may be fun to provoke fans, and get many replies to your posts, but come on now...

In my opinion Monikas and Mirandas all seem to fit in the fashion world. There will always be young models for you and sexy, more mature models for rest of us in this thread  So let`s not fall into misery!

Here is to hoping that 2011 will bring even greater opportunities for everyone associated with VS(especially Adriana, Alessandra, Doutzen and Miranda).

I agree with TommyGirl. There's a time and a place for everything and I'm personally very happy that these ladies are finally being showcased for the beautiful, talented models they are. Yes, in many instances a fresh, doe-eyed innocent is just what you need to make the shot, but other times you want the sexuality and fire that only a mature, developed woman can bring. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

 well said.

I think Adriana will pick up more work this year. She (and Miranda) are a lot more family orientated than Alessandra thus not working as hard. Alessandra's very much a career-woman and party girl. She really rushed back to work after her baby. I can't imagine her wanting to stay at home and be housewife. Adriana and Miranda on the other hand, I can.

I don't think that's a fair assessment, we don't know their personal schedules and what they prioritize or not in their lives.

And for reasons I cannot discuss here, from around 2006- 2008 Adriana wasn't exactly the body type designers request. And even now I don't think she's really runway ready.

Maybe it's not that Ale is putting aside any motherhood duties, rather she simply got more work.

I'm not saying Alessandra's putting aside her daughter, I'm just saying I think she'd be more inclined to work more than Adriana. Adriana just seems more family orientated than Alessandra. And Valentina is younger than Anja, so Valentina would be more dependent on Adriana than Anja would be on Alessandra. That's all.

I actually agree with you here, but I'll just leave it at that. :flower:

I think that Ale is by far the most versatile. I love seeing her in VS ads or high fashion eds. I love Adriana too, but feel she is just so much more suited to VS than anything else.

It just seems like that because we havnt seen much from Adriana yet. Givenchy was just an appetizer of what she is capable of.

True, Adriana's Givenchy campaign was amazing! ... I can't wait to see more from her in Vogue Italia.... and I agree, this trend is just starting, so haters... just close your eyes and you will stop feeling jelaous, I promise.

I think we'll see her for Givenchy again. I mean, especially since she said that they tried to have her walk S/S too when she was pregnant, but she ended up not being as big as they wanted. And I don't care what anyone else says, she killed that F/W campaign which is hard to do with MCB.

I agree with the substance of this post but I disagree with what I perceive to be the tone of the post, and in fairness, the meaning / intent was clarified in a later post. First off with Miranda, it remains to be seen, I would think that anyone having a baby is family oriented, but we will know better in a year or so whether or not, and how becoming a parent affects her choices when it comes to her career.

Re Givenchy, they definitely like Adriana and I wouldn't be surprised to see her on their runway or in a campaign at some future point, but if they only wanted her when she was noticeably pregnant, then that is stunt casting, and again, while they may like her, she is not one of their go to girls. I stated before that I respect that Adriana seems comfortable enough with herself and committed to her family that she does not feel the need to play the game and I think that she has the added challenge of her husband's job and the fact that his job is in a different location than hers, so she definitely has quite a few balls to juggle.

Re Alessandra, I think that she is a different case, she is one of the best print models in the business period, whether it is a high fashion or commercial project or whether the theme is sexy, fun, edgy, haunting or whatever, she knows how to get into character. Therefore I like that she is ambitious, hungry or however you want to characterize it because she is producing fresh and interesting content. Now if she is overdoing things, then hopefully she will realize that sooner rather than later and make the necessary adjustments.

Well, Adriana's husband doesn't have a job now and they moved from Spain to New Jersey in August, so maybe things have changed.

For the ones who said the trend was over....

Vogue Nippon March 2011 : Izabel Goulart

I don't think it's only a trend. What I think is that the barrier between the high fashion and commercial worlds is slowly being broken.

^yeah...plus Alessandra:

-Numero ed february
-US vogue ed february

She is on fire!

ok so Emanuela, Izabel, and now Rosie have all graced the cover of a Vogue :woot:
I hope these ladies keep it coming!!!

and Adriana! how could I forget

I mean seriously, all we need is Candice to land a major cover and that would be almost all of the best of the VS girls
