When I get home tonight I will scan it as long as someone hasn't gotten to it already. I tried to do it last night but its going to take some time since W is so very massive.

I think its nice that they used a lesser known actress for a change.
Yes! I think she's a very good actress! ^_^ It's good to see someone like her on magazine covers nah?

I was very excited to see the Kate Moss and Bruce Weber edit but quite frankly I found the vast majority of it offensive and stereotypical. The whole vibe was supermodel slumming it with urban youth. I'm not usually the sort to get up in arms about a photo shoot but I felt like this was in really poor taste. There were over 50 photos as per Weber's usual and I felt like about 5 of them were legitimately good. There was something opportunistic and semi explotive about that editorial. The scenarios seemed cribbed from a bad episode of Soul Food, they were comical. Kate goes to "gospel" church, Kate plays basketball, Kate makes out with brawny boxer, Aretha Franklin's breasts spill out of her top, Kate chills with her peeps, Meg White appears, Kate gets a bad hair weave and so on so forth. Add to that the fact that Kate looked positively knackered the whole shoot and you've got a really bad edit. Maybe I should scan to show what I'm talking about.

Best editorials in the entire magazine belong to Natalia, Malgosia and interestingly enough Christina Ricci.

I actually loved the edit with Kate...I thought it was really strong and I thought it was cool the way it was shot. I thought it was grounding and down to earth. I do agree, however, that she looked a bit rough in some shots. Overall, I thought this was one of the best issues of any magazine I have picked up in a while.

If I wanted to pursue campaign against supermodels I would hire Mr. Teller...Goodness what a nightmare is that? Paullina, Shalom and Carolyn look Okay...Others could successfully cast in scary movie....its Odd!!! Cindy Crawford looks extremely sexy and gorgeous in her 40ies...how could Juergen to make her look that bad??? Naomi looks like a witch...symbolically the title of this photo-session is "don’t call it supermodels come-back";-) it makes a sense...i would rather name it as "the very last Good-Bye of Supermodels";-) The worst work of Teller.

I looked through it again and I think that it is well shot. I've always admired Bruce Weber's work however, I still feel as though some of the scenarios presented in the edit were very stereotypical. I really resented the way they portrayed minorities in it and I just can't abide by that kind of thing in any magazine. But the problem I had with the edit deals really with larger social issues so I don't want to go all in depth and take away from the fashion discussion.

I did enjoy the article on Rodarte, it was insightful and interesting. I liked that the girls referred to themselves as "coal miners" while their dresses were the diamonds. Witty description, I hope to see much more of them in W and Vogue.

He DID give them a very odd 'cast' in the photos. Almost like he was trying to flip their coin from a 'then to now' difference on purpose. Tatjana looks the best I think. The rest might run to the plastic surgeons after seeing these though!

So this issue is out? Can smb scan Natalia's ed please?

Christina's World
ph. Mert & Marcus

Personally I think she looks stunning & the concept suits her perfectly. I can't think of a better modern day actress to undertake the iconic Louise Brooks role. There's also an eerily spooky quality to these which of course goes with Christina. This is how celebrity photography should be done.
