What to wear when you're a student

Maybe its something along the lines of a pre-med student who is so busy studying, they actually have no time to take care of their own health (ie no time to excercise/sleep/eat properly)... haha

I've definitely gotten lazier since i've been at college but i still can't stand wearing sweats to class all the time. Ballet flats, jeans and blazers are staples i my wardrobe during the fall/winter and in spring i stick to sandels and tanks. I wear heels every so often but usually end up feeling over dressed.

I officially completed high school today .... YAY! and I can't wait to get out of my school uniform and into a more inspired style that represents me .!!!

Congratulations Tushka!!
Enjoy your fashion freedom!

I'm a fashion student and much like most of classmates, I struggle to find the time and effort to look stylish all the time.

In fact, those that do are a touch geeky.

We're students, we'd prefer those extra few minutes in bed, not the wardrobe! :ninja:

Don't worry. I feel the same way. I love reading about fashion, but my dressing sense is way too pragmatic to be considered fashionable or in style. There is no way in the world I'm wearing my ankle boots to school when I have five flights of stairs to go up. Or wear my a skirt when I have a lab, where it's pants only and "real shoes." "Buy a pair of military boots, girls" as my chem. teacher likes to joke. Don't even get me started when I have afterschool practice.

hehe this is a good topic to put up...i went to the library last nite to do some cram studying and there was a large majority of pple in their pajamas!!! it was quite a sight...haha they even had their slippers and socks on...

Well...i understood the post i believe...i am minoring in fashion...but i have noticed that most are not over-the-top trendy...they look like they just threw something together...the people who try to look super-stylish are the ones who look a bit foolish...

i have 4 diff types of looks

a. tomboy-oversized boys t shirt with jeans & sneakers
b. chic tomboy- still jeans & sneakers but a more girly kinda top
c. girly girl- heeled shoes and such usually look like a girly girl for work or interview
d. laid back girly girl-flats w/ girly girl kinda outfit

usually with school it's either a or b, but sometimes i like to make people confused and throw in a c look lol

Then why are you here? :(

So because I'm a fashion student I must vow to rise hours early to select the most enviably fashion outfit I can possibly envisage? I'm exageratting (sp?), but I'm also at univeristy to get a degree, not take part in a daily catwalk.

I was actually referring to certain members of my group who try to hard to look 'hip.' I have my own sense of fashion, and fortunately it's one that takes little thought and is a matter of throwing on a tee, a dress, a pair of tights and some boots (par exemple). They seem to think that because we are fashion students, we are obliged to spend every ounce of our student loan in miss selfridge.

I don't think the amount of time or effort I place into my appearance for lectures should affect the outcome of my degree. I know my own intelligence thankyou very much ^_^

I always try to dress little over average/simple jeans + shirt style. It can be just a cheap jewel, a belt or nice shoes.
Just because i'm a university student it doesn't mean i can dress like homeless (exaggeration alert :P) or wear pj on lessons. Plus it doesn't take more time to pull on a pretty shirt than a simple T-shirt..
Most of the time there is no difference between my going out and my school time style except i don't wear mini skirt and i don't wear much make-up on lessons.

I wear whatever I feel like...and whatever's comfortable. Usually jeans, with a shift dress/tunic/long top with a cardigan over and some cute flats and a tote bag to carry all my books! I rarely wear belts/much jewellery at college. When I'm outside college, my style is alot better than at college. I could never wear heels at college seeing as there are 11 floors at mine!

Ok all this responses are fuss and feathers for me and it leads to a question I want to ask: WHY do you guys dress down or do not kare about your fashion in college or uni??? WHY?? I don't get it, I'm still in high skool

Honestly, I am just too tired most of the time to wake up, do a full face of makeup, perfect my hair, and pick out a a super-stylish outfit...I would rather sleep and save the rest for going out.

it's not that we dress down or not care, it's just that we have better things to worry about than to look good in front of our classmates; like that stupid midterm i have tomrorow morning which i haven't yet started studying for!!!!!
