What to wear when you're a student

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time or money on my hands to worry about style, so I usually end up wearing jeans. I wear my favorite ballet flats a lot, and it's really cold out now so I can't really wear skirts or dresses atm. Hopefully once Christmas rolls around I will have more money and can afford to buy some nice pants that aren't jeans, plus some nice tops and some new shoes. Plus I need to accessorize of course. Basically I want a whole new wardrobe, but right now I'll have to work with what I've got and gradually add pieces to my collection.

This past semester, jeans and tops, because it was really hard to change before & after yoga in a cramped bathroom stall.

Next semester, probably back to skirts.

I never understood why people had such strict difference between what they wear to school and elsewhere. For me the way I dress to school is pretty much the same as my casual wardrobe in general. I would wear the same things out to an informal place, out to eat, most parties, whatever. I guess thats reflective of the fact that I am never really very dressed up, even my dressies looks are probably on the casual side so I don't feel weird wearing them all the time.

For school, I usually dress down because I have lab classes and I don't want chemicals getting on my good clothes

As for Test Days, I dress my best. So no matter how bad I think my test went, at least I looked good doing it! lol

I agree about the 'dressing down for lab classes' ! It's a must, especially when you're stuck in the lab for 3 hours running around with chemicals that can burn through your cloths!

For test days, I dress down since I like feeling comfy during those 3 hour exams. I like the way you think though!:woot:

Can I just say that you should never wear heels to high school unless you're a teacher. Maybe it's possible to do it and not look like you're trying too hard, but I've never seen it happen.

^ Speaking of heels, I have a friend who wears heels to University.. yeah, that may seem ok? But.. we're at Canada's largest university! Sometimes classes are far (think about the pain!) You can even take the subway to one end of the campus to the other!

Anyways, what type of bags/pack backs do you bring to school? Same ones in high school? I'm looking to get a large ralph lauren tote bag for my books:innocent: (I'm getting tired of wearing a backpack:sick:)

For school I usually wear jeans, chucks and a t-shirt or a sweater.........just something casual. But sometimes I also wear a skirt or heels.....it always depends on my mood......and the weather. And quite many people in my school wear heels and chic clothes.

I have a backpack for school and I HATE it!!!!!! But I have to carry so much every day and a tote bag is just to uncomfortable for me........

^No one wears heels at mine... and if they did they would be looked at funnily, it's just to dressy I think. When I was at school wearing uniform people wore heels and it was fine but now it just seems too formal?

I wear jeans and a tshirt and a coat/jacket, and flats. I never wear trainers, I hate wearing them.

normally just a messenger bag, jeans, hoodie, sneakers for classes. ithaca, ny isn't much of a fashion metropolis.

I'm in law school, and students here (especially the girls) are fond of dressing up - pretty dresses, heels, a full face of makeup - basically, they come to school togged in (what they presume are) the chicest, trendiest fashions. Obviously not EVERYONE dresses like that, but it's quite a common occurence here...

I am in the clothing department, so i pretty much wear everything to school, apart from white tops on studio and lab days

Wow I wasn't expecting anyone to agree with me on the heels thing.
I am so sick of the way people at my school dress, everybody who is "into fashion" always looks like they are trying too hard, then there are the stuck up nerds who do whatever they can to make themselves look bad because they think it makes them better than us...

I bring a green tote bag from the Gap. It's something I can pull off now that I don't have to carry books for all of my classes at the same time. However, sometimes I find it slipping off of my shoulder a lot and getting heavy so I would like something different that is not a backpack. Any ideas?

I just ordered a Pink Pony hand bag for my notebooks.. (when I don't need to bring textbooks to school). I don't know if it'll work though! We'll see:D

I've seen someone bring a mini luggage to school before:blink: But that's kind of odd... lol, so yeah.. all I can think of besides using a backpack is a messenger bag/side bag or a large tote bag... (which will probably hurt your shoulders if it gets too heavy...) Anyone else have any ideas?

*heads in shame for wearing heels to high school and being 5"7 1/2 without heels* my mom drives me!! I love to dress up, as long as I have time. Is that a crime?
