jeans jeans jeans...for ur lectures...then supersexy wen goin out
The main look at my university is Uggs with Abercrombie and Fitch hoodies, highlighted, deliberately messy hair and Guess handbags. It's a uniform.
Other girls get really dressed up - stilettos, mini skirts, heavy makeup etc. That looks slightly ridiculous, especially as the campus is old with lots of cobblestones, it's impossible to walk in heels
I wear cardigans, skinny jeans, costume jewellery, pretty tops, tshirts, blazers and ballet flats/Converse/slouchy boots. I sometimes wear dresses/skirts with opaque tights, but in general I save them for nights out because I socialise a lot with people from college.
It's refreshing to hear someone say they wear just jeans, a sweatshirt/top, and uggs. Sure it's not considered "fashionable" by the fashion community but it is comfortable and average (in a good way). It's not wearing your PJs to school (which is kinda unsanitary anyways) but at the same time not fussy. I don't see anything wrong with wearing Uggs, Birkenstocks, sweatpants, etc. to school. Whatever makes you more comfortable at school, that should be the end of discussion as school is afterall, not a runway. For some ppl comfy is dressing up, for others its commonly owned basic like Uggs, tees, etc.
So thumbs up to you. B)
I feel normal; sometimes i even feel like i'm dressing down. It depends on the day, sometimes i feel like throwing on a pair of jeans, a tee and Converse shoes, and others i feel like dressing up a bit more. But i try to keep it school-appropriate.^But do you feel like your dressed up?Or do you just feel 'normal'?
My two cents into this sweatpants vs. groomed debate...
I don't get people who make it a big deal and look like they are attending a party. It makes me wonder why they are in school... to socialize/attract potential boyfriends or girlfriends or to study?
That's a bit judgemental. I think those people would like to think they look well put-together rather than superficial and unfocused. Judgements based on clothing are a practice that I think we, as fashion lovers, should stay away from. Judging an outfit is the norm, but when we start to make assumptions about the people wearing them, we've crossed the line.
When I was a freshman, I remember getting up at 5:15 am every morning to iron a fresh pima cotton shirt (complete with ruffles--it was the preppy era ) before commuting to my 8:00 class ... I was an honors student, and was in Phi Beta Kappa (that's the oldest honors society in the US for those who might think it's a sorority ). I wasn't still doing that by the time I was a senior , but just because someone puts time into their appearance doesn't mean they aren't also serious about their studies.
I don't, honestly. I get up early every morning because I can't stand looking like a homeless person needing a bath and a good ironing. Some people are perfectionists, regarding both appearance and studies. You don't have to be a skanky gold digger just because you don't want to look like a slob, that's ridiculous. Where I live, socializing @ uni is very very important. Uni is like a second soceity, and not in the American college-way (college doesn't compare to university in Denmark anyway). Socializing doesn't mean that you're not serious about studying, I would never allow myself to think that way, I'd go crazy. If one wakes up two hours earlier than should in the morning just to put on make-up, do hair and choose clothing, I think there is quite substantial proof to the statement that these people have something completely different in their mind than academic pursuits...
