What to wear when you're a student

i go to a design school, im in fashion design and the style is very wide from emo looking ppl to super preppy or avant garde , but my style and the most common one is, just showing to classes after areally bad night of sleep from doing all of this projects and sewing amazing stuff but wearing a super boring tshirt, beat up jeans, flip flops and racoon eyes, done the "natural way" of course.

mostly skinnys top cardigan with boots or flats. Or a dress/skirt with tights/legging & boot/flats. Sometimes I wear heels, only when I dont have to walk a lot.

it depends on my mood, and of coz, on my deadlines and assignments.
u can't afford to dress up really well when u don't even have time to sleep and rushing for deadlines can u? XD

buuttt most of the time, i'd wear skinnies, heels *or flat, with various shirts, knits, and jackets or cardigan.

When we're allowed not to wear our uniforms in school, I wear whatever I want to. But I make sure that I'm not under-dressed or overdressed! Hee hee.

I'm about to start my 3rd week at University and if I see another tan pair of Ugg boots or anything Jack Wills, I give you all permission to shoot me.

It's the unwritten uniform. It's driving me insane. Oh and they all have heavily eyelined eyes and backcombed hair,or maybe just the girls at my Uni do.

I haven't changed my style one bit,I don't see why I should have too. I know a girl here who bought an entire new wardrobe so she could dress like the 'Indie Kids' Give me a break.

dumbfairy, where do you study? I was in Scotland last year, in Glasgow, and I saw Uggs everywhere.

Now than I'm back in Spain the "uniforms" are different, but I found new ways to stand out. I guess my style looks a bit more British now, hehe. I just love not being considered a Spaniard at all :P

People think I overdress to go to uni, but clothes are important for me and, honestly, it doesn't take me that long to get ready (I have breakfast, a shower, get dressed and do my hair and makeup in an hour). I basically wear skinny jeans with ankle boots, loose t-shirts, shirts, cardigans, blazers and sometimes short dresses. And always a big handbag to get all my stuff in and a bright case for my beloved MacBook.

I go to High School, so I have 30 mins tops to get ready in the morning. I usually just wear my Boyfriend Jeans/or any other jeans, with a fitting top, and either UGGs or sandles. I wear sweatshirts a lot too. Weather is really ****ty here, so I always have my NorthFace as well.

Ksanochka Vanmra-Aberdeen ^_^ One of the furthest cities from anywhere :D Our styles actually sound quite similar

I know where Aberdeen is, but I didn't visit it when I was there :( I spent most of the time in Glasgow.

Even though of those repetitive styles, I miss how people dress there a lot. My hometown is hideous... if you're different they look as you as if you thought you were better than the rest or something... But, of course, I keep on being different :D

It's refreshing to hear someone say they wear just jeans, a sweatshirt/top, and uggs. Sure it's not considered "fashionable" by the fashion community but it is comfortable and average (in a good way). It's not wearing your PJs to school (which is kinda unsanitary anyways) but at the same time not fussy. I don't see anything wrong with wearing Uggs, Birkenstocks, sweatpants, etc. to school. Whatever makes you more comfortable at school, that should be the end of discussion as school is afterall, not a runway. For some ppl comfy is dressing up, for others its commonly owned basic like Uggs, tees, etc.

So thumbs up to you. B)

The main look at my university is Uggs with Abercrombie and Fitch hoodies, highlighted, deliberately messy hair and Guess handbags. It's a uniform.

Other girls get really dressed up - stilettos, mini skirts, heavy makeup etc. That looks slightly ridiculous, especially as the campus is old with lots of cobblestones, it's impossible to walk in heels

I wear cardigans, skinny jeans, costume jewellery, pretty tops, tshirts, blazers and ballet flats/Converse/slouchy boots. I sometimes wear dresses/skirts with opaque tights, but in general I save them for nights out because I socialise a lot with people from college.

^I think thats the universal university outfit :innocent: And I agree about the stilleto thing (My campus is all cobblestones too),I saw a girl fall in the road the other day cos of innapropriate shoes in the rain :D
