boyfriend jeans does NOT mean you wear an actual guys jeans,

I didn't say that... I said that they SHOULD LOOK like they belong to a boyfriend (or even, if you are lucky enough, they could have belonged to your boyfriend).

Again, I can't see the photo to the link you are posting (due to filters in my work) but if you are referring to the ones Kate Moss was wearing at the Topshop fashion show, they are NOT boyfriend jeans... they are just wide legged or whatever they call them!

i have 501s they are ugly **** of crap i had to wear to school day in and day out for most of the 90s, highly unflattering and so boring, reminds me of billy ray cyrus

Please try to be nice becuase many people here may own and love their 501s and no matter how unlikely this may sound to you, 501's may actually be flattering on others, despite looking so boring on you!

I will repeat myself and say that my definition is a slouchy-fitting jean that hangs from the hips and falls straight from hip to knee. They can be straight or boot cut. The main thing is that they should look like you borrowed them from someone a little bigger than you.

Tangerine's description is spot on imo...:flower:

^ I can't imagine ANY boyfriend wearing those jeans in the last photo you posted disco54... :p those are plain high-waisted jeans!:flower:

ummm

well...a rise doesnt matter , wide leg jeans are bf jeans, you can google it or whatever but i think fashion editors have a better than both of us.
exerpt from Times UK...fashion section ...editor HILARY ALEXANDER...

Suddenly, the skinny jeans that many young women have starved themselves into are no longer the hippest, most must-have thing in denim-dom. The hot shape of the moment is the slouchy “boyfriend” jean, so called because its loose, baggy structure makes it look like you borrowed them from the man in your life. As well as Superfine’s, you will find boyfriend jeans by Levi’s, Paper Denim & Cloth and Gap. The death of skinny denim is good news for women with thighs. The boyfriend is much less demanding than the drainpipe and can be very flattering. Wear a long, wide-legged pair with heels, for instance, and you will create a flattering, elongated silhouette, but getting the baggy look right still requires thought. Choose a pair that looks good on your bum. For instance, Superfine’s might be loose, but they also make the posterior look perky. “Don’t wear them with a long cardie like you did with skinny jeans. Balance out the volume of the legs with something shorter and more fitted on top,” says the Superfine designer, Flora Evans.

so...nuff said...:innocent:

ahahaha no boy will wear those jeans...omg...hahahah.oh god...hahaha

they look good , I have one from bebe..i have a pair but those grey ant ones are 400 bucks!!! I will just wait for kate moss to allow the trend to filter through and be mass produced at more affordable prices.
well BF jeans can hang on your waist, AE sells those low waist ones , i tried them on , tiffany did too , they are horrible, a regular to high rise is just perfect. OH and those Kate jeans are most definetlly, firstly they are not tight at the knees , its similar to the straight slouchy chloe jeans i posted the link to, just kates' jeans have a higher rise.

oh and i agree on those marc jacob jeans ...those are sailor jeans...but trust me 501s ..........gag me with a spoon..makes me feel like DJ from Full HOuse..

^ when she says wide-legged, I would have guessed that she means it as opposed to skinny.... and I don't think that wide-legged are bf jeans otherwise they would be simply called wide legged and we wouldn't be here trying to define the term!

anyway, I don't think that her description defines clearly what she means or what this thread is trying to define... although I feel as if she has the same idea as I do about what bf jeans are... imho, I think you are confusing wide-legged jeans with boyfirend jeans which is not exactly the same...

Nevertheless you can call them whatever you want... no probs with me!:p

well thing is they are the opposite of skinnies ...i think thats all that it means and they are not flares either.

well yeah ...bf jeans are the new name for wide legs..lol...no body says bellbottoms people say flares..and nobody says drainpipe jeans ..they say skinnies

they are the opposite of skinnies

^well.... I most certainly don't agree with that... nor with what you say below... there is a difference between b/f jeans and all sorts of wide legged jeans but I'm afraid that you won't see it even if I go on with this conversation for the rest of the day...

.....so.... I'm going to leave it there... :flower:

Hmmmmmmmmmm lol. Im not even sure if its boyfriend jeans that I want so I guess I wont be posting about them again. What I want is a higher rise straight leg jean alittle more like Kates so if they arent boyfriend jeans then I guess thats not what I want. I dont want baggy jeans that are hanging on my hips I know that. Anyways... thanks for all your help.

I think you'll can find some bf jeans on this website: http://www.bennettsclothing.com/ag_jeans.htm
But i must admit that i'm a bit confused ... is it one of those here?!

I don't know where you come up with these definitions!

Drainpipes are not the same thing as skinnies. Drainpipe simply means a straight leg; it is generally not wide, but can be "normal" to skinny. Skinnies are cut very narrowly, but are not necessarily cut straight; they can be, and often are, tapered.

A drain pipe is a straight length of pipe.
A boyfriend jean is a jean that looks like it was cut for a male, not a female figure.

I think I'm done... :flower:

ummmm...i went to highschool in in 1981...drainpipes and skinny jeans are same thing ...just that in those days..they were very high waisted..

yeah some types of bf jeans are like that , but some cuts have the NON STRETCH feel , of boy jeans but are fit for girls .

I've always loved baggy jeans, until I became a skinny convert ... but now I'm definitely taking the plunge back again! Just bought a pair of men's 501s on ebay in a pretty large size - 32/32, I'm normally a 28.
I love the baggy, low waist look, as opposed to the more polished high-waisted loose pants.
However, what to wear it with? I love the looks others have posted, but since winter is coming up, and fun feminine tops are harder to find, what would work with them and is easily available? ... I feel layering time coming on ^_^

well buying 501s that too in largers size is...umm not a good idea...that too hip slung. I mean for a casual look its cool, but you cant dress it up , its not very flattering , a higher rise and a better cut would have been more versatile . Also the whole hip slung..pubic pant look is dead..unless your EMO or a rocker .

Well I personally like low-rise jeans (as long as they're not extremely low). I find them flattering for my shape - with a high rise my thighs look too round and bigger than they actually are. But I think it would be interesting to mix styles, with very baggy, casual pants and a more elegant, tailored feminine top. Anyways, I tried on some instore and made sure they're not too low, it's so impractical if you always have to keep pulling your pants up

EXACTLY.
more than half of the pics posted in this thread are not to me boyfriend jeans. kate moss' jeans are not boyfriend jeans, they are 1970s soccer mom jeans!

*wishes she could find that damn killah babe ad* <--this to me are boyfriend jeans. long crotch, really baggy jeans. like 501s.
