I mostly use my boyfriend jeans in the winter, to balance out some of the bulkiness of my layering. I'm always freezing! They're supersoft and bag around my knees and bum quite a bit. I'm kind of forced to wear a belt, otherwise there is major plumber's crack. I mostly wear ballet flats with them, or my sambas.

footwear is the biggest issue for me..
anything other than barefoot or flipflops just doesn't really work imo...
maybe ballet flats?...

i'd love to hear/see some other options as well...:flower:

it's a slouchy look...so i think it looks best SUPER casual...
most anything else will probably just come off as sloppy or ill-fitting...

but that seems really predictable....:ermm:...
kind of boring...

I agree, I think a plain old boring white racerback vest/singlet and flip flops look best...

Thanks for the links, disco54 :flower:

I bought a pair of boyfriend jeans from The Gap yesterday and I adore them! They're not too baggy but not too form-fitting either, they have that 'guy' look to them and the price is great.

I did a little comparison shopping. I looked at Calvin Klein's but couldn't find any boyfriend jeans (and then got distracted by the adorable jumpers there). I also went to American Eagle (the place is swarming with fourteen year-olds) and tried on a pair of boyfriend jeans there but they totally sucked. AE's boyfriend jeans are nothing more than flares that have a little more room in the legs. And they're not even baggy! You have to go up two sizes to get them baggy. Ugh

Anyway, I really think the key to boyfriend jeans is that you wear something girly and a bit tight on top, to balance out the looseness of the jeans. Otherwise you look like you weigh 200 pounds and have a tiny head

yeah ...the AE bf jeans are gross, the are too low rise and badly made. Yeah BF jeans you have to offset it with with feminine its all about that whole david bowie androgyny thing , mixing it all in. wearing slouchy boy jeans with a girly top, or putting eyeliner and lipstick , or pairing slouchy jeans with patent platfroms with a cami . What i like about these jeans is the whole , message behind them , in a way , its like showing a girl can also WEAR the pants , she doesnt have to have wear skin tight and be in your face sexy , she can be subtly sexy and keep them wanting more yet being nonchalant and cool about it. Again though I suggest picking jeans which will look good with shoes and heels and have roomy cut ( but not too roomy) .

The renowned face of skinny jeans, Kate Moss, attending the TopShop show in denim disguise... :p:

yeah, Kate's look more like slightly flared jeans or something...she's also wearing them with heels.

I've been doing the boyfriend jean thing for ages. They were perfect for my UCL days when I couldn't be bothered. I don't really worry about sizing, I just wear them with a brown leather belt, but even then, I gotta admit, they are very loose. Except my friend said I actually look skinnier in them than in skinny jeans. I guess it's 'cause they totally make your butt disappear!

^ agreed..
so what's new? Kate ruins one more cute trend..zzzzzz

I love my boyfriend jeans ... and I usually like a structured, put-together look.

The thing is, these aren't inherently "grunge" ... they can look wonderful paired with the perfect blouse, a fitted blazer, and sweet ballet flats a la J. Crew. Really sophisticated and classy.

So don't shy away from these if you fear that they only match wifebeater tanks and flip flops or converse!

those are not like flares , its not tight at the knee and goes out, its more like non stretchy , she looks better in these , more relaxed and sophisticated, skinny jeans looked tacky and too streetwalker

i like these jeans...what make are the esp...the front pockets esp

i dont know ...eventhough kate is not a great role model, i still like her, she has something which makes you like her and want to copy her style...i mean seriously she brought skinny jeans to practically every damn store within 1 year by popularizing them now she is wearing the new boyfriend trend..we all know where that will go now..:)

I love how these jeans look, but i'm really short, so is there a way i can wear these jeans without looking like i have like two short logs for legs?

actually...i was watchin oprah...with fashion expert stacy london...if your short and curvy, a higher rise is better , and wider straight leg ,elongates you. My mom is short, in the 70s ,she wore higher rise wider leg jeans with heels because it mader her look tall , and she is 5 foot 1. Also if you watch That70s show, Mila kunis aka jackie is 5 foot 1 too, but you wouldnt think it because of the higher waisted jeans she wears..
