Jil Sander S/S 10 Milan

I LOVE everything starting with look #13 or so (with the exception of the metallic dresses on Anabela, Kasia and Mirte)...the first handful of looks are kind of clunkers. The rest is so gorgeous.

And the hairstyling is so stunning I cannot even comprehend.

definitely the best milan show so far. i'm stunned. i love the fabrics, the raw edges, the shapes, the shoes, everything. some pieces are just brilliant - that dress "on fire" *Bianca* pointed out, for example, i'd love to see it irl. and the way the collection was presented... it might have been amazing to be there.

looking it at this closely i can only come up with one conclusion....deconstruction is not dead.

it's strange for me to see that after all of these years(a decade or so) there are those who still can't comprehend the concept of deconstruction. the entire idea behind the collection is the psychosis that was visualised in the film....there's a sort of deranged and catastrophic sense of femininity.

Excellent execution..except those iridescent dresses. well done

The materials are actually all archive-reproduction, not new. Knitted and weaved nylon and sheer organza is what Jil Sander and Helmut Lang were all about in the nineties!

But, I love everything so far. I guess there were two radically different sections at the show again; daywear and then the more experimental statement nylons and mermaid stuff.
thanks for pointing this out.. now i'm even more curious
especially for the original Jil

That dress on Kasia looks like it's on fire.

I'd like to argue with those who complain about how "random" the colourful numbers are in the collection as a whole, by stating how completely incoherent it would be for an entire Jil Sander collection to be made up of shiny, plastic, electric-blue and metallic-green outfits.
It's obvious there needs to be a large percentage of blacks, beiges, whites... after all it is Jil Sander. However, injecting the collection with small doses of unexpected colour shows that it's Jil Sander by Raf Simons. I personally enjoy the shock element of seeing neutral neutral neutral and suddenly something completely unexpected. It's okay to let him experiment, that's the beauty in seeing different designers take on the same house- to see each interpretation of the established aesthetic.

As a whole, I like this collection. It's not stellar, I know, but it's deffinitely up my alley... to each their own I suppose.

It certainly isn't my favorite JS by Raf collection, but the detail shots do sell the ideas behind the garments and obviously, the garments themselves. The deconstruction going on here is flawlessly executed. It manages to be elegant and sensual but still parred down enough to evoke a sense of subtle 'chicness'. Personally, I find the collection is lacking that ethereal, singular quality that Raf usually manages to infuse in his work for JS... he can make the most mundane shapes/fabrications come to life in the most astonishing and spectacular manner... it's missing from this collection, but still a great effort on his part...

The accessories are amazing though... the shoes

a few pieces i didn't quite like, but then as everyone is saying the details makes the whole thing just exquisite!
season after season he takes the brand further! (thinking of the fringes last summer, the structure for winter, now this!)

I'm a tad conflicted... the pieces with the netting, the shoes, and the suits are all beautiful, but I'm not so certain about the rest.

^im sort with you on that. im usually a big fan of raf's work for jil sander but for some reason i find there is something...missing. cant pin point what

i love how he experimented with details in tailoring, it gives what can be rather a mundane suit a youthful but still intelligible touch with the deconstructed details.
it is some of the dresses i find not very satisfying. perhaps it is a personal choice but it doesn't make me want to wear them

i agree very much with this statement, but after seeing this again, in particular the detail shots, i've changed my mind, some of this is really lovely:blush:

Simply beautiful and amazing, at first I thought it would be very bad considering the SS09 collection which made me actually pay attention to Jil Sander and this collection goes much further than that. In my opinion he combined romanticism, minimalism and elegance very well. I know we are not supposed to talk about models but the casting combined very well with the collection, in my opinion.
