^ I was just thinking the same thing....Aren't the police, DA and courts a little embarrassed at this point that this train wreck never seems to have any consequences for her actions?? LA is pretty well know for being easy on people in the entertainment industry, but how many near misses will it take before they say 'that's it- take her away!!'

Lindsay Lohan and the Case of the Stolen Necklace—The Latest!

Have Lindsay Lohan's alleged sticky fingers gotten her into another sticky situation?
The Los Angeles Police Department confirms to E! News that the embattled star is currently being investigated for grand theft in connection with the alleged theft of a $2,500 necklace from a jewelry store near her home last month.
While a search warrant was obtained by authorities on Tuesday to search Lohan's Venice, Calif., residence, police never had to actually execute the warrant because the necklace was turned over to police by someone other than Lohan.
Authorities would not confirm if the person who returned the necklace was a Lohan associate.
But, despite the jewelry's reappearance, the case against Lohan isn't closed
"The case is currently under investigation," says an LAPD spokesman. "It's still ongoing."
In other words, Lohan could still face prosecution if it's proved that she did indeed steal it.
The incident in question took place on Jan. 22 and the jewelry store owner clams to have photos and video of the actress wearing the gold necklace with semiprecious stones before it went missing.
Of course, Lohan having legal troubles is certainly nothing new. Lest we forget, she is also still under investigation for the alleged assault on an employee at the Betty Ford Clinic during her recent rehab stay there.
If she is found in violation of her probation, she could wind up back behind bars.

What a minute, wait a minute ... !

Michael Lohan goes into the emergency room, gets diagnosed with coronary arterial blockage ...

and so his first stop out of the emergency room is Jack-in-the-Box?

And LiLoser is out drinking & shoplifting and not taking care of daddy??? (You had to know she wouldn't let Sheen hog all of the headlines.)

Move over Huxtables, this is truly America's family.

I really, seriously dislike Michael Lohan, but those hospital pics are super creepy. It looks like they were taken through the window, which... no.

Things are starting to go down! Don't the police know that if someone wears all white it means they're innocent? Like, have they even studied fashion and stuff?

Lindsay Lohan met with her probation officer in Santa Monica this morning, and though she looked angelic in head to toe white, she was just accused of stealing a $5,000 necklace from a jewelry retailer in Venice.

Its all o-kay ... this is Hollywood.

Movie stars can get away with little stuff like this.

No worries, it's all good. It's Cali.

No new chrome bracelets with connecting chain yet?

^ Not for our little Lindsay Dee (aka- The Hardest Working Woman In Show Business)!! BTW- where is the family? Dina, Ali, her brother who is going to star in his career making role in Dina's new movie? Are they all maybe off getting certified as counselors so they can help out with their soon to open string of Rehabs? Is Michael's night club from last summer going to be opening up again in the Hamptons this season after his heart problems? Will he be doing a fitness DVD to sell on QVC now that he is back in fighting shape?? Does Beverly Hills Porsche have any 911 Turbos that Lindsay can 'borrow'? Will Lindsay finally get to be close friends with Big Trixie at the LA County Jail?? Do they still have dollar drafts and hot wings at Jugs and Strokers? Will the Packers beat the point spread at the SuperBowl? Enquiring minds want to know all of these things!!

^ 'Big Trixie' will have to wait because Lindsay might go to state jail this time.

Los Angeles police were contacted immediately after a Venice jewelry store suspected Lindsay Lohan had stolen a $2,500 necklace from their establishment, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively, but waited to issue a search warrant until they’d seen the troubled Hollywood starlet actually wearing it.
According to a law enforcement source, "the [jewelry store] staff noticed that the necklace was missing soon after Lindsay left the store. The LAPD was notified that day and a police report was filed.”

Our source said the report was filed well before pictures of Lindsay wearing the necklace surfaced, which made for further evidence, as well as an investigative tool for police.
"It's almost as if Lindsay wants to get caught," our source said. "She is photographed everywhere she goes. Past allegations of Lindsay being accused of stealing are being looked at also, even though she has never been charged before for allegedly stealing.

"Things aren't looking good for Lindsay -- she could be looking at state prison," our source said, adding that even the Mean Girls' star's skilled attorney Shawn Chapman Holley "won't be able to get Lindsay out of this one if Lindsay is charged.
"There is just to much evidence against Lindsay this time," our source said.

Our source said that a chief reason police waited a few weeks to request the search warrant was because they wanted to see if Lindsay would wear the necklace.
"Investigators wanted to see if Lindsay was going to wear the necklace in question," our source said. "The store owner worked with cops, and Lindsay was caught on camera several days ago wearing the necklace. It was after that picture was discovered that cops went to the judge to get the search warrant.
"Cops wanted to make sure the search warrant was approved, and they took the extra step of having a picture of Lindsay wearing the necklace almost ten days after the alleged theft."
We caught up with Lindsay's father Michael Wednesday, and he denied any wrongdoing on his daughter's part.
“I'm not going to let people continue to distort things: Lindsay never stole a necklace," Michael told RadarOnline.com exclusively. "People give Lindsay things all the time on consignment and when they need to be returned, they're returned. Bottom line -- that's it."
Lindsay, 24, returns to court February 25 for a probation hearing.

When Gossip Cop contacted Lohan last night, she said she had “No idea what this is [about].”

DA considers theft charge against Lindsay Lohan
By Alan Duke, CNN
February 3, 2011 -- Updated 0203 GMT (1003 HKT)

story.lindsay.lohan.gi.jpg

Los Angeles (CNN) -- The Los Angeles district attorney will decide if Lindsay Lohan will be charged with stealing a necklace from a jewelry store last week, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor said.
"They presented the evidence about mid-day," spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said Wednesday afternoon. "We have the case under review. No decision will be made today. I can't say when it might be made."
A "one of a kind necklace" reported stolen last week was given to Los Angeles police just before detectives were to search for it in Lohan's Venice, California, home, Los Angeles police said earlier Wednesday.
The necklace, valued at $2,500, was taken from a jewelry store in the Venice area, a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department said.
"As part of the grand theft investigation, detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific area obtained a search warrant on February 1, 2011, for actress Lindsay Lohan's Venice residence, to search for the necklace," the statement said.
Her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holly, did not offer a response to the police or the prosecutor's statements.
Lohan, 24, is currently on supervised probation for a drunk driving conviction. The judge overseeing her case told her in October that he would send her to jail for 180 days if she violated her probation rules before her next court appearance set for February 25.
She left the Betty Ford clinic a month ago after three months in a drug rehabilitation program. The rehab stint convinced the judge not to send Lohan to jail [edited]
CNN's Brittany Kaplan contributed to this report.

does anyone know what happened before when a $400,000 necklace disppeared from her elle shoot? was that jewelry recovered from someone else? or was the matter never cleared up.

and wasnt there other incidents where she would walk off with clothing from her shoots only to give it back later when asked? i dont remember.

i think its outrageous if she in fact stole this new necklace. she must earn residual $ from her movies. i would think that would be a hefty sum for normal people.

^ Isn't it obvious that the store owner is being paid off by Carvel to set this up?? The guy said- "Here Linds, take this really expensive one of a kind necklace and wear it as often as you like; after all, who wouldn't want to be you!!" ^_^ And then he made up this story that it was missing and called the cops...She'll get off once the truth comes out, and then Dina and Michael can slam the jeweler with a $55 Million lawsuit for ruining Lindsay's reputation!! *and celebrate with shots of Patron...* B)

Normal,yes- but.... She hasn't really worked in a very long time (other than semi-p*rn ads and such) and the way she spends money like she is Bill Gates, just imagine what her legal bills must be at this point!! And didn't she say originally she couldn't pay for Betty Ford- which was something like $30,000? For Lindsay, that's just a weekend in the Charlie Sheen Suite at The Palms!!

Lindsay Could Skate Because of Jewelry Store Delay

2/3/2011 9:30 AM PST by TMZ Staff
The jewelry store at the center of the Lindsay Lohan necklace investigation may have compromised any prosecution by waiting more than a day before calling the cops ... sources tell TMZ.

0202-lindsay-tmz-ex-02-credit.jpg

The owner of Kamofie & Company claims Lindsay walked out with the $2,500 necklace on January 22, yet she did not inform the LAPD until the 23rd. Our sources say the jewelry store owner claims she tried contacting Lindsay's people on the 22nd to ask them to return the item, but couldn't reach anyone. Here's the snag ... the owner simply could have walked down the street and knocked at Lindsay's door.

0203-lindsay-lohan-owner-jewelry-reg-tmz-v2-credit.jpg

Lindsay claims the store loaned her the necklace. Fact is ... jewelry store owners have thrown themselves at Lindsay, asking her to wear their stuff. The picture (above) shows Lindsay on January 7, posing with another jewelry owner who gifted her an expensive necklace.

In order to charge Lindsay, the D.A. must prove she had a specific intention to permanently take the item as she walked out the door.

So in California you can take something out a shop without paying, and it's only shoplifting if the shop can prove 'a specific intention to permanently take the item':unsure: And if someone steals something from the shop you have to contact them and ask for it back otherwise you can't press charges? None of that makes any sense

She doesn't shoplift because she's poor, it's symptomatic of her personality disorder. Probably been doing it for years.

^ Oh, for God's sake- this is Lindsay we're talking about here, and the stupid necklace was only worth $2,500.00; of course there are any number of loopholes- including the police losing the evidence or something like that...
*Shooting schedule for Insatiable Sluts of Cell block D on hold indefinitely... *

Lindsay Jewelry Store: It Ain't Easy to Borrow Our Stuff
2/3/2011 12:52 PM PST by TMZ Staff

You can't just walk in and "borrow" jewelry from Kamofie & Company -- the place Lindsay claims loaned her the allegedly stolen necklace -- because we're told, there's TONS of red tape to get through first.

The jewelry store owner Sofia tells TMZ, "When we loan out jewelry, we have a whole procedure that needs to be done. There is paperwork that needs to be filled out and there needs to be insurance information given or credit card information in case something happens with the jewelry."

We're told the paperwork entails an itemized list of what the customer is borrowing, a signed contract claiming responsibility for the item while it's out of the store, and credit card and insurance information in case anything goes wrong.

According to Sofia, the store RARELY deals directly with celebs -- "The stylist will come in and ask to borrow the jewelry for a shoot or an event."

Sofia wouldn't comment on the Lindsay situation -- but the surveillance tape could be the smoking gun here if it shows Lindsay signing any paperwork ... or not.

X17 EXCLUSIVE - LISA BLOOM SAYS "SOMETHING IS FISHY" ABOUT LINDSAY'S ALLEGED JEWELRY THEFT
Feb 3, 2011 12:55 PM

The Lohan family has asked power attorney Lisa Bloom to help Lindsay deal with the recent accusations claiming she stole a $2,500 necklace.
Bloom tells X17online exclusively:
"I was asked to see Lindsay at the request of the Lohan family. Something is fishy about this story. It doesn't sit right with me. I want to get to the bottom of it. I find it hard to believe that Lindsay would steal a necklace worth a couple thousands dollars. I'm very sympathetic toward her position."
Bloom has represented Michael in the past but the two dissolved their relationship back in September after helping him through much of Lindsay's legal troubles.
It is presumed Bloom is consulting Lindsay in case charges are filed against the actress for the alleged theft of $2,500 worth of jewelry from a local Venice jeweler. A source close to Lindsay tells us Bloom has NOT yet been retained by Lindsay to represent her, however.
A spokesperson for the district attorney's office says no decision will be made this week regarding charges, but the LAPD has submitted their case to the D.A.'s office.

Can't afford Shawn Holley anymore?

the mob should move here ^

^ If you've seen Bugsy, you can see that is exactly why the mob did establish a 'regional office' out there!! B)

What is with all of these DAs and Police Departments putting things 'under investigation' (again)!!? How long can it take to make a decision to go ahead? The Betty Ford thing is like two months ago, and this one should at least call for Lindsay being brought in to 'establish her innocence', no?? How can they decide what to do without talking to the accused and getting her side of the story? Who did turn the necklace back in, and what was the story behind that? Wouldn't the insurance people be involved at this point- were they notified that the necklace was missing? Or is this another celebrity case where it will be taken care of 'in due course', put on the back burner and forgotten? Lindsay has a court date soon- Grand Theft charges would certainly play a part in a Probation Hearing, wouldn't it??
