Model Casting F/W 09.10

^I hope Katlin is not a part of the new league of Pradettes (love that word  ) I think she is really pedestrian looking and a boring version of Anne-Marie van Dijk! But whatever, we'll see...

Anywho, I loved the Max Mara cast today...anyone know who did the cast?

i dont really think they would send a girl home who is dressed in the outfits. it would be mean to do so. i think this is a rumor.

FROM IQ models blog.. this is a post regarding Alina Ismailova walking Prada (just to give it some context)

It's always so unpredictable, it's very likely to be even abusing for some casted and even confirmed girls, that one after another are being cancelled from the actual show, up to the very last minute sometimes. As an illustration to these words, 3 poor little newcomers were cancelled in only minutes before the show this season: after serial fittings and rehearsals, being completely dressed, with complicated make-up applied, hair fixed, eyebrows bleached especially for the Prada show... They've been just cancelled. Commanded to get undressed and leave backstage territory in minutes before the show!

It's such a huge stress for teenagers at the very beginning of their careers! Only the strongest personalities can oulast such painful experience and become successful afterall!

Assuming all these stressful things accompanying Prada show, the question is: why do almost every girl that dreams about top-model career, more than anything else in the world wants to step on Prada's runway?

The answer is simple: because it's PRADA!!! The label with the longest list of Top-models that it introduced to the world in previous years! So, everybody wants to be a part of this list no matter what, that's how a season after season Prada gets the best of the best newcomers attending its show in Milan, that's why it's so hard to get in there, that's why it's so easy to get out.
PRADA! Very likely the most influential fashion brand on the entire planet, definitely the brand with the most intriguing, hope-generating, as well as hope-disrupting show in the history of fashion modeling! And at the same time, this's the show where Alina Ismailova was catwalking on the first day of Spring this year!

I was actually surprised that some of the seeming Russel favorites throughout the season weren't there
maybe they got cancelled?

I'm pretty sure Miuccia has final say, Marsh can like them all they want but if Miuccia doesn't, well, they won't be walking.

I know Natasha Poly used to always do Marsh shows, and then out of nowhere after years, she did Prada (which was very surprising).

^I think it was after 8 seasons that she finally did Prada for the first time.

Speaking of Prada, one name that I want to put out there as someone who has really broken through this season is Daria Strokous. If I recall correctly, she walked Prada with Adina, Anna, and Alana, and then she didn't have a ton of success...but now she's doing way better than all of them. She's not walking the biggest shows, but I'd have to say this has been a breakthrough season for her.

SCOOP DU JOUR: COVETED GIVENCHY

In New York that Calvin exclusive has emerged as a major star-making platform (Irina K, Karlie Kloss, Toni Garrn Ali Stephens being Calvin XCL emeritus) .
Prada/Milan/Exclusive is a language all of its own and for two years now Balenciaga exclusivity has been a major Paris Fashion Week fetish. Well add Givenchy to that short list given the increasing power of that show and campaign in giving new girls maximum visibility. We'll be watching that runway very eagerly !

I think this belongs here for sure. Givenchy seems to wield some power when it comes to castings.
Janine Henkes was a Givenchy exclusive last year, and has not been seen in any shows as of yet so maybe her.

Thats great for Ana Claudia, but isn't she supposed to be making a comeback? I don't get how she can do that if she is an exclusive for the same show two season in a row, she should do other shows :judge:

Much like last year I believe Givenchy is looking to the past to find their "new" exclusives. Expect some nice surprises. :shifty:

There is only one woman that comes to mind as of late, but I am so biased here :brows:
I thought McMenamy, but that may just be because i am dying to see work from her and i love Givenchy so...

^ How suberbly excellent!!

Also, in Cato van Ee's thread it has been reported that she has a Givenchy exclusive for Paris as well...

^ Cato as a Givenchy exclusive? Now...that sounds interesting ^_^ But I'd be really happy for her!

who did you guys think would do better this season??

I am surprised how little Rose Cordero has been booking, doesn't really mean anything in the long-term I suppose, but I thought she would be in many of the key shows. She did look good at Burberry though.

Also Elena Lomkova, I didn't expect her to be huge this season, but she has only booked like 5-6 small shows that I know of.. from Prada/Miu Miu to almost no key bookings
