does everybody nowadays has to make the same fashion shows with the same models? a safe balanced mix of the models that walk all the others show? i dont think so. THAT is boring as hell. i don't want this kind of sameness. and i just want to get it right: my boyfriend is dark skinned - i am white, but with south east asians, spanish and danish origins. My friends have all skin colors you can dream of.

I used hair as an example. It's amazing that in the year 2016 there are still people who think that diversity in terms of look (re: hair), age, height can substitute for racial diversity.

My apologies, I must have really missed the part where supporting "diversity in EVERY way possible" connects with defending a systemic, consistent casting of exclusively caucasians.

And like Vitamine W said, we're in fashion forum discussing fashion and models. No one is saying we're changing the world by criticizing lack of diversity on the runway, but we sure ain't being conformists and apologetic of something that is clearly wrong.
 
When I think of Alessandro Michele's first Gucci cast, I clearly see a certain vision. Apart from the lack of racial diversity, hardly anyone looked 18+. There were no strong looks, no sexy girls, no mature girls. And these 3 attributions (the first two in particular) IMO already exclude a huge lot of black models. I personally don't like this kind of casting, I just wanted to add my two cents on desinger's visions and how that may make sense to them...

I also agree that Vetements/Balenciaga were "different" (not saying diverse, though), I just find it harder to see how black models would not fit into this.

i understand your opinion very good and i value it in the highest way possible. it's okay. it's important to fight for a good cause. i applaude your good heart. but my question was only: would it be a better impact of a show if Demna would but 3 or 4 models of color in his show? there would be no outcry, there would still be a major majority of caucasian models. Just look at the Akris Show. What a beautiful Show with beautiful women. It's great. It's his vision now. will it be his vision next year?? - or did he only choose the MOC because his theme was dominated by animal printing? I think we have to be more tolerant in any way.

If i look at the Balenciaga Video right now. I think Demna choose Models that he is Friends with to walk for his first Show. they are ALL total real. They are most of them not the typical model type, they walk akward. they have diffent face shapes and bodies and heights. They don't fit mostly in the box of natural beauty. there is a jolie laid aspect in it. and as i pointed out - something like a friendship involved.

i bet most of these girls he knows and he is FRIENDS with. Why should he not choose them to walk for his first Show for Balenciaga?

I didn't mind Givenchy either, it tends to be less copy and paste.

Looking at Louis Vuitton, it looks like SS16 all over again. Nicholas, is loyal to his crowd :lol: Although I enjoy it it does have the tendency to be boring. Still looking forward to it.

I'm surprised Kendall, Isis and Imaan didn't show up (same wth cai lee. is riccardo over her already? lol)
 
Kendall was busy shooting with Karl so I guess Riccardo needed someone else to fill the celebrity model spot and Bella just happened to be around. :lol:

Candice was glorious, though.

sacai looked very brokaw but hearing that karl templer styled makes it all make sense
 
Sonia Rykiel was the bomb, even Gigi looked great.
