...

they are all on the same path...
they can smell it in the air...
we all can , can't we?...

something is definitely 'up' with the past few seasons...
there is a revolution happening in fashion...
it's a quiet one...
but a great many of the big players have changed...

gucci is gone...
versace has 'faded away'...
that overt sexuality has as well...
and androgyny and modesty is moving forward...

the 'ones to watch'...have become the ones to follow...
and even miuccia is following along...
all that 'antique diamante'...
come on...who is known for that???...

it's all bits and pieces from collections we've seen somewhere already...
i even see the ferretti influence...
i have a ferretti dress that has the same shape and black straps...
which is obviously why i said i like it..
i already OWN IT......
;)...

**so it seems to me...
she took a ferretti dress pattern...
used some leftover cdg fabric...
and applied some diamantes from lanvin...

and that's what we call PRADA...
:p

:ninja:

The CDG technique on the cloth struck out to me immediately. I don't think many people caught that because it was hard to see in the CDG runway pics unless you saw detail shots or the clothes in person. The similarity is uncanny.

I do think I like this collection. It's not my favorite and I certainly liked last season more. Perhaps I like it BECAUSE she took and switched out various aspects from other designers.

I also don't feel this collection is that vintage inspired. Only a few if the looks had any "vintage" detailing. It reminds me of old Prada and even old Bernhard Willhelm (it may just be the visors and poofy sleeves).

and yeah, I totally agree with you softgrey...times are changing!

this collection is very awkward. but it is nice, i love the dresses with the grey layers underneath and the thick black straps. the bags are nice...but similar to past bags, but they are still pretty and the colors are lovely.

i will look at it again later...:innocent:

You summarized the situation so well, softie!
The collection is too awkward to me. I don't even like most of the shapes. A couple of skirts are fine with the FW04 prints on it. Besides that, the collection disappointed me.
btw, I think the only purpose of carrying bags like that is training triceps instead of training biceps :D

They carried the bags like women in Asia do with heavy things. It's quite uncomfy, even if you have a Prada bag to deal with:-P

Yes, there is sth "temporally done" in the dresses, some asymetries, pleat inserts. She makes it really easy and with a light hand, as Jil Sander did with Yamamoto influences.

Do you think the "steels" effects come from white wash? So that there seems to be a "thickness" in delicate fabrics.

This collection was so INTERESTING.

Not necessarily for the wearability of the clothes, but because it challenged some of the greatest fashion epidemics right now.
We don't get plastic-perfect sex goddesses
Or slightly twee feminist secretary looks
This seems a bit "nasty as miuccia called it. It seems a bit more real in its combination of rumpled tights, off-beat accessories and opulent beading.

It reminds me of a young Miss Havisham...slightly rumpled, still opulent, and clearly operating on a different wavelength.
That said, I love:

(from style.com)

A young Miss Havisham ... that's a very interesting thought, clavdia. I think "feminist secretary" is edging up to an oxymoron though ;)

I don't really see the "nasty" in this collection ... that's not the word I'd use, anyway ... perhaps I just don't see any upside to nasty ;)

But the darkness ... that I like ... it acknowledges the complexity of everything, including the nature of women ...

And as far as the overall trend away from sexy that softgrey mentions ... I like it. My own taste is trending to clothes saying less, and allowing me more room to say more. Who says clothes have to be sexy? Isn't it the woman who's supposed to be sexy? And maybe clothes don't need to be ironic ... maybe the woman can be ironic--when she feels like it. That's the kind of minimalism I can sign up for ;)

The idea of beautiful, ageless clothes really appeals to me right now. And in case you're wondering, Oct 9 is 11 days away ^_^

I'm not too exited yet. I hate the bags and the shoes. but the shapes of the clothes are nice. and I like the colours..

cant say i love it....
actually some of it is positively hideous...
those swirling browny orange patterns on skirts and jackets.....
....

i dont understand the strange 'washes' on the fabrics...
i dont know the correct terminology...
but its almost a tye-die effect....this weird swirling pattern....
i hate to say it, but i think its awful...

i'm so disappointed...
i like this even less than marni...
and i was so looking forward to both of them....
:ermm:

i like the thick straps...B)...
but thats about it....!

only about 4 looks from the entire collection that i like, unfortunately.....
but here they are...

:flower:

In that case shouldn't every other designer hide their key looks before Prada sees them? :innocent:

but faust, i dont say this is right or wrong, its just what most of the Italian brands are doing, including Marni ..this is just a strategy some Italian houses have adoped to avoid total copies from chains like Zara, H&M etc, it is not aimed to other designer houses, its aiming to the mass market copycats ;)

i don't like it much. some pieces are nice though.

Well, apparently PETA struck again at Prada (yet another collection with now fur, and also a designer who rarely uses fur to begin with).....just a tidbit from Vogue.co.uk

Anyway, I must say I have warmed up a bit to this collection. Some of the dresses are great, and I like a lot of the shoes and bags. The styling is weird, to say the least, but I have a feeling some of this will grow on me. And I do see a flapper element to it all, the makeup, the dress shapes and details......hmm, maybe it's just me.

love those particular looks as well adorefaith......

i like it. i never really liked the direction prada went in in the last few years... i'm a fan of her sporty minimalism..

btw. i like those white shoes on post #102

I didn't like at first but today I've seen the collection on TV and it looked different, I like it more.
