Project Runway Season Four

i think jillian is talented but really annoying..like the most annoying stuck up girl in your high school...ugh...just want to give her a smack!..:yuk:...
and i am not wearing that dress..

christian clearly has NO colour sense...the colours of that outfit were a disaster adn didn't even match...bleh!...that plaid should have been the SKIRT!!!...
and the jacket should have been red or black or both...

i think carmen rocked it out!...fantastic look...totally fabulous...
i think you could very clearly see a very personal point of view there and i am very interested to see what she comes up with next!!!...

ricky did a beautiful dress...he chose the perfect fabric and used it really well...
i don't think there is a single girl who wouldn't wear that dress...
*the judges saying he 'played it too safe'...too safe for waht?...
for them to get good ratings on their show?...
why should he go over the top if that is not his style...
this was HIS style he was supposed to show....

tooo safe???
what about that dreadful SUIT that the very ugly and egomaniacal steven showed......maybe no one mentioned it because it was so bad they didn't want to give it any more airtime...:innocent:...

So far, I must say this show was a blah..but I did have fun watching at a NY Mag party. Based on this show Season two cast is still my favorite. I mean what happened to Andre?

tooo safe???

That's what confuses me about judges' comments.. they say too safe, but when it's original it's not practical enough.. sometimes they say designers should branch out but then they say "this outfit is so not you--stick to what you know!"

So I just block out their critiques sometimes. :p

kit: she reminds me of jeffrey from last season. they both try too hard to be edgy.

i'm sure elisa is there only for entertainment.

steven's suit is really messy looking. i'm surprised it didn't get more flack.

i'm interested in christian because of what tim said about him. his outfit was really westwood inspired and i'm hoping the rest of his designs are better.

and jillian..i can't stand her. her dress was really boring (just like her). she seems so pretentious and i'm sure she'll turn into a huge b*tch by the end of the season. :innocent:

So sad I missed the premiere last night....
Lucky for me that Bravo will reair it 85 times before next week.

Rami- I'm suprised no one picked up on how remeniscent of Phillip Lim SS06 this is... especially the rosette. Still, the dress was made beautifully and I was suprised something could be that well executed in such a short amount of time.

Simone- You know, I actually would have been interested to see what Simone could have made if she wasn't bogged down with time constraints, etc., because I actually liked the sound of her aestethic...she gave me a very Jane Mayle-ish vibe that I would have liked to see more of. Her design was very poor last night, though...terribly constructed. The shrug kind of reminded me of some of the prints in the Patrick Robinson for Target collection and it didn't work with the dress.

Ricky- Nothing special about this one at all. Sure, it's something tons and tons of girls would absolutely love to wear... it's flirty and it's fun and it has the look of not trying too hard. But that's the problem. He relyed too much on his lingerie skills and didn't really push for anything new. This dress wasn't fashion to me- - it was Forever 21.

Elisa- Ugh...I appreciate that she wants to have an artistic sensibility to her clothes, but this was a mess. Seems like something a Miami dragqueen would wear...not a good look. At least she had a point of view.

Victorya- For what it was, it was cute. Seems kind of Vera Wang inspired. I don't think she had much "innovation" in her design, but it's the dress I would be most likely to wear. It says she's about subtle glamour and cute sophistication.

Sweet Pea- I really did not like how this one looked. The silhouette is soooo tired and I don't even think she executed it that well- - the bodice was too short and the bottom poufed in a weird way. It was another dress worthy of the Forever 21 bargain bin.

Carmen- "Ghetto fabulous" done semi-classy..and I've seen some of her stuff from her Harlem label and that seems to be only tune she can play. It's not my thing at all, but some people seem to like it. She's like the female version of Michael from Season 3 so far.

Steven- Really boring. I don't really have anything to say besides that.

Kit- I thought it was cute- - sort of rockabilly and sort of flapper-y.

Marion- Oh, I did not realize that the skirt part of the dress was denim.... I want to see more his designs, but right now I think is trying to hard to be "avant-garde" and that's probably going to be his downfall. This dress doesn't even do anything for this girl's figure...makes her look like she has huge hips.

Chris- Uh, can you say "Special Occasions" section at Bloomingdales? :ninja: While I admire his sewing skills, this dress is so derivative all of these Kay Unger, Bianca Nero, Nicole Miller, Tadashi, etc. dresses that people wear to wedding anniversaries.

Kevin- Very boring. The pinstripe doesn't match the brocade/paisley print. It basically looks like the average junior highschool girl's formal dress with a waist cincher on it, which was completely random.

Jack- For what it is, it's pretty nice. It's not my style at all, but I don't hate it. It reminds me of sun and vacation and fun and I really like the teal.

Christian- I agree with soft that the color sense is off and that the plaid should have been for the skirt or other colors. So far I feel like he's too influenced by McQueen/ Westwood...I want him to develop his own design sensibility.

Jillian- I think this is the dress that I can see the most easily on a runway in New York City. It's perfect for a resort collection. It looked really well made and I loved the color.

Over at Bravo I looked at every contestants 3 pieces at the PR Fashion Show. Carmen's were the worst IMO. It two looked very Baby Phat to me :yuk:
They had Daniel V as the "correspondent" for Bravo, commenting on all the pieces. Some are hilarious!

i agree mostly...
but i have to take exception with two things you said..
first-
the rosette was not the only flaw...
the complete lack of BOOB SUPPORT in that dress made it incredibly unflattering adn impossible to wear without a bra- while it is also impossible to wear with one..it just bagged out under the arm and ruined the silhouette completely!-this is a MAJOR flaw from my point of view...
because- as a woman, i NEVER want my boobs looking bad...i mean- who does...i think a woman would never have made that error frankly...
and i think he is used to dressing LA boob job queens...
but most of the world is NOT filled with silicone and he is going to have to make it work...:judge:......

second-
elisa's dress was actually really beautiful and elegant...with the exception of the train...
everything she does is hand sewn with visible stitching and raw edges..
that is her 'thing'...and she did it really nicely imo...it looked great from the front...
she just went too far with that train...

on a nother note...

i think elissa has always gotten in her own way when it comes to her designs...
she has to stop thinking of them as some sort of performance piece or costume if she want to be commercially viable..
it's just a dress for crying out loud...
but i dont' know if she can ever be commercially viable since she really does sew everything by hand and on a body...
i mean...how many can she really produce...
and how many people can wear a skintight lycra dress...
:ermm:...
Caught a re-run and noticed the boob issue on Rami's dress. It was very loose, definitely needed to be tightened or taken in....something. :o

I hope the poor fit doesn't become a habit of Rami's because so far I respond most to his aesthetic and other than that and the dreaded rosette, the design itself was gorgeous, very Lanvin, which is interesting considering Alber is Israeli too.

And I actually agree about Elisa because the body of the dress was very pretty. And the fact that it was cut with one seam, which is a favorite technique of mine, it was pretty remarkable fit-wise. It draped beautifully...but that damn train!!! It completely ruined it for me. It'll be interesting to see if she responds to the judges criticism and practices some self-control cause she seems to have one of the most original pov.

Also, I can't helo but notice how CDG Marion's dress was. Kind of a more femme take on it.

As of now Rami is officially my favorite. That dress was beautifull executed, the color is gorgeous and it's only flaw is the rosette.

I'm rediculously happy that that pointy-faced little b*tch Christian didn't win for two reasons: One is that I always detest the arrogant one every season always has and Two: for all his bragging about working for Westwood, it shows. That look may as well have been a Vivienne Westwood. It was so sudent designer trying desperately to be edgy.

Shocked that Elisa didn't get the boot. That dress was a disaster.
I agree.
Rami's was the only one that felt sophisticated and not trendy or edgy on purpose. Just stylish, classic, sophisticated and romantic without being very self important. I also liked the styling of his outfit. The center parted hair, the tan Balenciaga shoes (I think they are...SS 06?)....and in some shots during the episode, his model looked like a clone of Adina Fohlin! Like you said, it reminded you of Lanvin, and I could see this dress on a Paris runway, which is a HUGE compliment coming from me!

And I could not agree more about Christian! I HATE HATE HATE HATE that student designer trying to be avant garde and edgy look! I HATE it! It's so tacky...the corseted look, with torn up skirts, stiletto boots, frizzed out hair done up to look a like a mohawk, the wannabe Pat McGrath make up....I've seen it all before and I HATE it! I have a very strong feeling that that is his aesthetic and he thinks he's the new McQueen. I'm sorry...McQueen has taste....you don't, Christian. I have no idea how he was able to work for him, because he's just bad! He's the kind of designer who tries hard to be edgy (I hate that word)...edgy (if I HAVE to use that word) never comes from trying to be edgy, it only comes out of something natural, never something done on purpose.:innocent: Plus his voice makes me cringe and his hair look like he's wearing a wig that has started to slip to one side. That or some animal was caught in a hugely forceful wind and happened to hit the side of his head at full speed and just stuck there!:lol:

None of the other designers WOW me right now, most of them seem on the whole, talentless, or at least average. The ones who like to design trendy clothes for 20 something-year-olds, not really designers of fashion, just designers of clothes (and there is a big difference!).

Although, I'm interested in Chris because of his costume, over the top background. I hope that he shows a design sensibility similar to Galliano. He has the capability of being sophisticated, his dress last night has taste (it wasn't my favorite, but it was pretty). I'd like to see his theatricalities come out in his designs more....something with more direction and concept than a pretty dress.

Oh!!! And about Jack's secret...I bet it's that he has AIDS.

I agree soft...I am nominating you for next season! I loved Christian skirt but that plaid was just in the wrong place for me. The jacket would have been great in a diff color. He is so full of himself too...his face when he realized he didn't win was priceless.

Spike - you're not the only one that is not wowed yet. I was expecting more from the designers since they got to do anything they wanted with whatever fabric...most of the designs were just blah.

I loved Rami's dress but I could not help but stare at how those boobs were flying all over on the runway...give the girl a bra or something!

What in the world did Carmen think she was designing?? It looked like a Genie in a bottle outfit from a far.

I wish they would have shown the casting process like they did last year, I liked seeing what everyone brought in to wow the judges; some of them were so hillarious...

i don't like any of them. i remember watching them walk and some of them had terrible walks imo. not fond of Rami's model either.
Rami's model is a bit heavy...I think her face requires a more slender figure. Like I said in my last post, in many shots, her face reminded me of Adina Fohlin, whom I love, so I kind of like Rami's model.

By the way, it's already confirmed and well known that Jack has AIDS/ HIV....official statements and all that jazz, so I'm guessing that that is not his "secret."
....this might be, though...(highlight to reveal): from Daily News (who knows if it is true, but I've read in several different places online that all say the same thing basically)

But there is also a controversy around the departure of HIV-positive New York contestant Jack Mackenroth.
According to a source who spoke with him, "He is saying he got kicked off not because he lost a challenge, but because he got a 'staph' infection and said his face blew up like the kid from 'Mask.'"
Staphylococcal skin infections can be especially serious for HIV-positive people. Some are also potentially infectious to others.
"He says he was the fifth designer voted off," says the snitch. "He is claiming that this was at least part of the reason he was booted."
Mackenroth, who had signed a confidentiality agreement, denied spilling the beans when contacted by Bravo.
"People will say things about me whether they know me or not," he said in a statement released through Bravo's PR. "Those were not my words and are fictitious."

Even though he denies it, it could still be true....

so far no one's really standing out for me. however, i'd like to see if christian will live up to his own hype. he is a bit snooty and annoying, but he makes for good tv. :innocent:

The only model I like is Anna Lita. The other models are kind of boring.

sooo true...:p

some of their comments make little sense...
but in the end..i can almost always predict who will win every competition...
so i do usually agree with their final decisions..

:innocent:

The funny thing about Jack's HIV status (if that is in fact the shocking announcement previewed) is that it's on the Project Runway mini-bio of him, and pretty much any other coverage of the contestants....

Not to mention that it's kind of sh*tty on the producers part to use it for the purpose of good tv. Yeah it's public knowledge and he's on reality tv, but come on, don't use it to get ratings.

I'm kind of sad to know he's gonna be going so soon, if that little report is true, cause in his video on Bravo.com he seems really funny.

Have you guys seen the commercial for episode 2? Bravo is pumping it up and proclaiming the "biggest guest judge" on PR yet. Any ideas on who it could be? One thing for sure is all the guys really were excited, especially the gayz...:innocent:

^^Marc Jacobs? Ralph Lauren? Or it could be a celebrity, one bigger than the likes of Debra Messing? I'm assuming it will be someone in the New York Fashion week scene....I'd be floored beyond belief if they had a Paris designer....I seriously doubt they ever would or could! (They did have Malandrino last season, but they were in Paris at the time...) If they're saying it's their biggest yet, it's got to be someone big. They've had really big names judge before, Diane von Furstenberg, Badgley Mischka, Iman, Nikki Hilton, Monique Lhuillier, etc.

I don't know! I'm excited, though!
