Project Runway Season Four

This season does not feel exciting for me yet. I think my expectations are unrealistic.

Huh, Jack just revealed his illness openly on the show, so it seems that everyone already knows about it...I wonder what the issue he had later was, then  But 17 years since his diagnosis and still in good health? That's amazing

And male models, hahaha!

But frankly I'm surprised almost all the designers seemed completely unprepared for this challenge. Project Runway has requested menswear in its challenges before, right (But I guess nothing from the past was formalwear)? It appeared to catch everyone completely off-guard.

^in season 2 the designers had to design for each other and nick, kara, and chloe did pretty damn well with menswear

this week did seem a mess. Most of the outfits were horrible. I liked Kit's outfit the best. I think Jack's outfit had too many stripes

^Ah yes! Chloe's suit for Nick was such a wonderful piece :woot: It really solidified her image as a versatile designer for me. And remembering that makes tonight even more surprising, then. Most of the designers this time were expecting spacesuits before menswear, it seems

Kit's was also my favorite...no comment on most of the others, really :ninja: There are no words to describe this:

(Did she really have to tack on that hat as an addition to the disaster? :ninja: )

They definitely sent the right person home. I couldn't believe her outfit when I saw it coming down the runway.

Kit's was my personal favorite. I really liked her jacket.

Kit should have won...her jacket was so chic! I would wear it in a split second! The navy fleece was so smart and yet she kept is modern and slick by making it very tailored and slim!

I don't know why Jack won...it was so boring. They told Ricky, besides the awful construction, that his design was boring...Jack's was just as boring and average as Ricky's! I've seen shirts and pants no different from Jack's at Wal Mart!

^ And Wal-Mart will probably send a buyer to the final show this time as well...:innocent:

Tiki probably liked Jack's better...perhaps Kit's outfit was still not "matchy" enough for television.

Yeah, I thought Kit should have won just for her jacket alone. Ricky's outfit was a mess and a half, ugh that was really ugly and sloppy.

Back to the SJP eppy, I saw the winning look at Steve and Barrys and it is a cute dress, but has the possibility of looking very sweet or just plain awful depending on the person and how its styled...

This is one challenge where the designers definitely needed more time. For once Heidi was the bitchiest and not Nina. And, can I say the males models were so HOT and so is Tiki great challenge. The female models this season are so unattractive.

omg those male models they were amazing
I could not believe these people had such a hard time sewing a suit?? wtf?

^^Well...I've always had a little bit of an issue with the time they give the designers to work. Especially with this challenge. Menswear is notoriously hard!...mainly because menswear is all about fit, and tailoring something perfectly is not the easiest task in the world. So, even with, what was it, about 20 hours total, it's not unrealistic that some of these designers couldn't finish everything. For one, none of them have had serious menswear construction training, so they had to draft patterns and make muslin mock-ups, which takes time. Plus, a nice pair of pants and a blazer/ jacket isn't as easy as one might think. And working on a dress form is also not easy since, what may look good and fitted on a dress form may not always fit right on an actual human, and that requires further attention on the designer's behalf.

So, when the judges ramble on about how the designer didn't manage their time very well, it's a little unfair to say that, since I seriously doubt that any of them were sitting around on their ***es for an entire day! I'd like to see Michael Kors whip out one of his tailored menswear suits by hand with no pattern in less than 20 hours!

I found myself a little dissappointed we only got a tiny bit of Elisa last night.
I am liking her and seeing such a different process of designing is very cool to me.

I felt so bad for Sweet P.
Her shirt was such a mess and I thought it was funny when Kors said he thought it was supposed to be a mess for a moment.
Hadn't she ever made a button up for a woman?....
Is it really that different to make one for a man?

Kit's was the best, IMO. Was hoping she would win.

And I really didn't see why the loved Kevin's(?- guy with bad facial hair) so much....
I thought it was very average design- like Jack's.

Spoilers!

I really didn't want to go Carmen to go home, because I liked her as a person... though she did make one sorry look.

But Christian was his usual self (ie, fierce) and that's really all that matters anyways.

^^I agree, I liked Carmen as a person and would liked to have seen what she could have done in other challenges. Carmen is like a cooler, more attractive and seemingly more stable version of Zulema of season 2! I thought that Ricky should have gone home.

If he cries one more time...

This was the challenge I have been waiting for, but at the same time I realize that I shouldn't have. Menswear is so different from womenswear and judging designers on something they know very little about is wrong. Though, I do think they should make a project runway for menswear lol.

Oh and Christian going "I love Asians!" LOL STFU and STFD.

i thought most of last night's outfits were hideous and horribly constructed. if i had to pick a favorite i think i'd say i liked Kit's outfit the most. i thought the navy fleece was a nice touch and added some much needed texture.
i'm surprised that Tiki picked Jack as the winner. when his outfit came down i was sure they'd disparage him for being so safe.
