US Vogue November 2011 : Rooney Mara by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

Those shots in the lake are the best shots I've seen from any celebrity that was featured in US Vogue.
I couldn't agree more. The lake shots are so beautiful and so not like US Vogue. I truly hope that M&M replace Testino as the main cover photographer for the magazine, it's been long overdue for a change.

The lake shots are absolutely breathtaking. I really hope M&M will stay at Vogue US for longer.

Those lake shots are indeed stunning.

God...they are just beautiful. This girl!!

i hope they put Emma Stone on the march issue.....they always put the unexpected girls on the March cover. (Gaga, Tina, Obama)

I just love Rooney's editorial! Even the studio shots are great! The lake shots are really something, they look like paintings as someone has already said.

^And how exactly is this cover a good example of M&M's aesthetic? Demarchelier, McDean, Meisel or even Testino could've made this cover.

I Feel it is different when you look closer.it is less about fashion and more about the character
although Mert and Marcus are high end fashion gurus, somehow their images show more personality then others.
stunning images!

Rooney's editorial is simply amazing. Anna and her team need to set a standard and stick to it and be more consistent and i think this is the sort of standard that must be upheld at the magazine. I can't fault anything I've seen so far- its all beautiful!

That ed is truly art. The last shot is absolutely breathtaking.
I cant believe people still hire Testino

What a fantastically beautiful editorial! Not usually a fan of Goodman's celebrity spreads, but this is one of her best!

Wow she is so stunning on the cover and in the editorial. Really suits her. Nice work US Vogue.

In HQ the pics show M&M's own style clearly. I like the first and last images most, too.
Thanks for the pics!

Poor Testino.. I used to dislike his work for US Vogue, but there are some great covers and eds he shot recently. I don't think M&M should replace Testino for the magazine, because if the duo do that thing over and over again I would get sick of it.

I agree. As far as covers go, I've liked all of the ones he's done thus far this year. I also liked some of his covers last year, like Marion Cotillard's and Anne Hathaway's.

wow her editorial is simply stunning...congrats for the team to produced a great cover and great main editorial!

The shots in the lake are gorgeous, they remind me of an editorial Mariacarla Boscono did a few months ago.-

^ Yeah it's a little similar to that ghastly LOVE editorial but here the whole lake set-up is just beautiful. She seriously looks like ACL here, I swear!

Tonne needs to work with M&M more often, I love the dramatic simplicity of their collaborations thus far vs. Grace's housewife editorials with the duo which grate like no other, mainly due to the constant casting of Natalia.

^But now he also shoots for W and Interview so maybe it's his choice to shoot less for US Vogue. Or maybe he's had a disagreement with Anna; I remember an article from the early 90's with Anna saying that he's very difficult to work but really we aren't able to know. I'm just glad that he's working for more magazines that allow him more creative freedom.

Anna was never directly quoted in that article as saying that he was difficult. It was credited to an editor.

Meisel working less and less for US Vogue has nothing to do with the fact he started shooting for W and Interview. Meisel's decline in US Vogue shoots started well before that.

Exactly. It was while Grace Mirabella was still EIC.

Rooney's pics are purely gorgeous. She has such a striking face and a little less photoshop would have sealed the deal, but that's a minor issue here.

Sorry then for the wrong info. I'd really like to know the real reason why he doesn't shoot so much for US Vogue anymore.
