Vogue Italia March 2014 : Saskia de Brauw by Steven Meisel

Finally something to be excited about. After the slickness of last month's cover (which I love) they strip it right down to the bone with this. Love how raw and intense this is - Saskia is perfect for this, in the video she's really attuned to the theme.

im not getting tribal im getting a dirty feeling from it. Its the paint on her arms and hands thats bothering me

Well this is fantastic. Can't wait to get this, best VI cover in a long time.

I can't remember the last time Vogue Italia featured something other than Dolce & Gabbana on their March cover.

As a huge fan of Saskia, I love this shot, but this actually reminds me more of a VI Travel Supplement.

I thought it's NatGeo magazine...

I don't understand this kind of comments. Wild animals (and not just dogs and kittens) have been used in fashion magazines for decades now...even on covers (remember Demi feeding a giraffe on the cover of Harper's Bazaar?). This is the kind of cover image that can stop me in my tracks. So aresting and powerful (great model choice too).

Not sure how I feel about the cover yet, it made me stare so there's that. Saskia's intense!

They need to get rid of that jank font and upgrade to a more sophisticated typeface. It's always bothered me.

I think they would decline this image even at National Geographic... I went to one of the museums where you look into a screen that reflects your face and puts a mask on it... this is what it reminds me of;-)))

Don't get why people are so bothered with the concept, about time we get something so captivating and out-there. Love this cover so much, only a fearless model like Saskia could pull it off. Reminds me of those crazy eds of Veruschka in body paint in the wild.

I just cannot stand Saskia's face in this. I'm going to steer clear of this issue like no other.

About time we see Saskia on another Vogue Italia cover. Not sure if this cover really does her justice, though. It's weird for the sake of being weird. Then again, I'm just never a huge fan of animals in fashion editorials (unless they're cats, puppies or fluffy bunnies).

I think National Geographic comparisons aren't negative - when it comes to photography they have a reputation that is as good if not better than any edition of Vogue. And given fashion's penchant for ripping off indigenous cultures NatGeo or a similar publication probably did inspire this on some level.

Seriously....you'd think that'd be a compliment?? Would be in my book!

That's rather strange, I have to say.

It's really interesting to see a cover like this. It's so scary (in the positive way), you see these goat horns and the facial mask on Saskia and you think of thunders, curses and other scary symbols.
