Vogue Paris June/July 2011 : Isabeli Fontana by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

It is derivative as all get out, but I like the ed.

I can't help it, i like it too-very much, actually.

Mert & Marcus have a very unique and recognizable use of color..and it shows in the editorial in contrast to the original. Maybe their saturated color palette isn't enough to set it aside, but it makes it modern enough for me.

this is ok but if they actually used linda herself it would have been amazing

If they would have shot Linda instead, it would have been an exact replicate, and people would have been complaining even further.

judging by the cover and main editorial alone, it looks like we're headed for another disaster in glossy print. isn't their downward spiral over yet? please call me when they finally reach rock bottom. looks like they STILL have a long way to go from here.

P.S. it's the first time the new font stuck out like a sore thumb (imo at least).

Now seeing the full editorial, I realized what I didn't like about the cover. It looks very dated. They didn't bring it into the new decade. Disappointing.

So strange how the one from all those years ago with Linda, actually looks way more modern, and engaging! I really cant see why this was necessary. VP used to set trends, not repeat them, so much for creativity, but Isabeli is a stunner.

dude, this is like a really horrible cover song. there's nothing new, memorable or insightful about this remake. in fact this ed looks staid and forced while the original still retains a sense of freshness and modernity, 20 plus years on. each meisel shot is simple yet beautifully framed and linda oozes sensuality and emotional intensity. at least mix up the poses/facial expression a bit: isabeli looks so blank. even her hair remained static in this shoot.

wonder who the original stylist was for linda's shoot?

The editorial lacks energy... It just feels bland even with Isabeli. Every month I look forward to each new issue, now I find myself disappointed with each new one released under ALT.

its quite a copy from Linda's editorial!!!
Come on, VP!

the editorial isn't just a disaster because the model is ISABELI, which is GORGEOUS and STRONG!

Honestly, i'm only here for Clement, he looks hot. This is one boring a** editorial, good concept but poorly executed.

Oh Ms Roitfeld, only God knows how much i miss you...

i just think magazines finally realised that they need to start producing beautiful editorials to sell them ... otherwise they are pretty much scr*wed...
the editorial is not very original and some shots are very similar to Linda's one... but at least my eyes are happy and i don't cr*nge...

I'll reserve my judgement until I see the other editorials.

I think overall Isabeli's editorial is good, but it just isn't unique enough. They could have done soo much more with Isabeli and M&M.

I'm really hoping for at least one or two new models featured in VP. I like it when they bring back old favorites (Snejana, Aline, Shannan Click etc).

I Dont like the ed look tracky and dont like see reprints Mert & Xerox opps sorry Marcus

for me the editorial looks super sexy and nice! it feels 90s and nothing wrong with that.
i like the feeling of nostalgia and 90s.

love isabeli with short hair .

It's obvious where the ed got the inspiration from  I like the ed, but the styling is incredibly boring to death. It has always been models and photographers who give life to the eds styled by Alt, and I guess that's why she can help but use the limited number of models who she's used to working with.

Linda's had more energy, more tension AND it was grittier, and sexier. Isabeli's ed while beautiful, is a bit too "clean".
It just didn't interest me as much.

Now that I've seen some of the preview
It makes you wonder, why not just use Linda ?
