What to wear when you're a student

^ Completely agree about jeans being uncomfortable ... I think most people must be brainwashed  Particularly so before the advent of Lycra :P As it is I only have a couple pair ...

^Bad, I think. Kitten heels yes, but anything above is just not very practical. If you don't mind running around carrying heavy books all day in heels, go for it.

I must say I think the opposite about wearing heels.
If you're living far away and have to walk a lot I understand it's not practical.

Otherwise, I find it more practical to wear heels for daytime than wearing them out the entire night.
I see it as an opportunity to wear shoes I would otherwise think is to uncomfortable, because sitting in lectures and classrooms is not as demanding as dancing or walking.

treggings. leggings with pockets and a zipper  very very comfy. the material is slightly thicker than usual leggings more like ski pants
tucked into thick socks. flat boots.
the bottom half always stays the same plus i'm really not a skirt person

Because I'm petite I kind of NEED to wear heels with almost everything , not 4 inch heels but anything above 1.80 inch heels. I don't mind running around campus even in 3 inch heels boots. I don't think wearing stilettos is appropiate (plus I don't like the sound of pointy heels in a library or a classroom, is just awful).
But I do believe you should wear comfortable clothes on campus, It doesn't look right to me to see girls completely dressed-up on campus : is charmless :( is like you have just seen everything that they can offer (in terms of styling) and they can only dress like that everywhere.

I quite like wearing heeled boots or ankle boots to college, especially with a plain dress-and-leggings outfit (comfy). However I do walk to college, so I wear flats to college then change into my heels - is that a bit excessive maybe?
I definitely don't fully dress-up for college, I don't see the point. I try to dress comfy but in my own style

Thanks for the replies. Yea, I have so many nice heeled ankle boots that I never get to wear enough because I feel that I might look too dressy even with a casual outfit because everyoneee else only wears uggs and sneakers at my school.

I love that way of thinking, posed to death! Definitely makes a lot of sense esp. since my school has a fairly small campus :D

Mmm, very interesting point

If you want to wear heeled ankle boots when everyone is wearing sneakers,do it  Don't worry what anybody else thinks, just as long as you're comfortable

I also wear flats in summer and then change into my heels because my summer heels aren't as comfy as my heeled boots. !

I have the classic school uniform (summer dress, winter shirt/tie/skirt/blazer/scarf). Casual clothes days turn into an opportunity to learn alot about people's style.....occasionally you do see a few disasters. Case in point being a girl who wore a denim pair of short overalls over a cami. They were so short her but cheeks hung out a bit. It wasn't the best look.

In terms of what to wear...comfort is key I've always though. Jeans, well cut shorts, crisp shirts and ballet flats etc.

I've noticed a trend on my school: The more leather in one outfit, the better :D A lot of girls wear knee-high leather boots and a leather jacket, leather jeans are very popular too. And of course a leather bag to go with all that...

This is my logic. I love wearing heels, but when going out I prefer almost anything else. Very few heels are that good for dancing in, even though I have no difficulty walking in them.

When I was at college (Fashion Design), we always said we could guess what people were studying by how they dressed. For example, tango tans & dodgy blonde streaks - Hairdressing & Beauty, suits & briefcases - Business, Accountancy etc., wearing every trend at once, yes we put our hands up (where appropriate) - Fashion, but mostly this was very tongue in cheek! Most students wore whatever they felt happy/comfortable in, and that is best. College/Uni is a mixture of hard work & good fun, not a fashion parade, not even for fashion students (and I was one for 4 years), so just wear what feels right on the day and make the most of this time in your life

We have those girls too! Its usually leather in either exactly the same colour or a complete mix. There is one girl on campus who has red leather knee high boots which she wears everywhere :ninja:

I've chosen to go to a junior college, and I've to wear uniform. It's pastel blue, and bland. The only thing I can do is to get nice shoes, +bag.

I do wear a lot of leather too...at the same time as well... :ninja:

I used to not wear heels at all during the day at uni, but I've recently started wearing these 3.75" wedges that I coveted for a while, saved up for, and bought. I thought it was a waste to keep them in my closet, and since I don't go out at night that much anymore I just wear them to uni.
They're not sneaker-comfortable but still very wearable.
I get stares whenever I'm at uni, the main reason is because I'm a girl in a male-dominant career, and now that I wear heels it happens very much more so. I used to be very self-conscious about being stared at but I have recently started to not give a crap about what people might be thinking about me. It's quite liberating!

that said, it's not like I go out in clubwear and six-inch heels... but I do take that extra time in the morning to do my hair and makeup *flips weave*
