Boyfriend Jeans

blech, not for me at all. i'm smaller on bottom than i am on top and i like to keep it looking that way. i have one pair of jeans which i guess would fit this mould but they are a lot more fitted, i just call them my 'comfy can't be bothered' jeans.

I only wear men jeans, not really a choice, I don't fit any regular girl jeans (plus sized stuff has a passform which is not ok for me, it is made for woman with 'post-kids' bellys, and my stomach is rather flat). I have an pair of jeans, G-star straight legged jean in a dark wash, which i love, it has an great fitt.

I really, really don't like this look. I think I'm scarred for life by the rave pants era--you'd never catch me dead in a wide-legged pant. My legs are wide enough as is, anyway.

I didnt know this was a trend!!!! I was trying to find a pair of guy jeans since a while already but I havent find the right ones.... Im kind of upset that its a trend.... I wanted it to look it was all my ideaaa!! which in fact was.. :p

^ see, this is what a trend is all about.. when a bunch of people have the same 'fresh' stylistic 'approach' at the same span of time.

like many of us, i was somehow surprised a bit to see the 'bf jeans' discussion here, but still glad to see that the 'roomy' esthetic was getting 'adapted' worldwide.

i've been wearing 'bigger than my size' jeans for almost one and a half year now and as we've been discussing with fellow tfspotters, it was a choice which brought a natural 'balance' to the 'skinny' jeans in my wardrobe.
its all about choices

I completely agree with you lena - I started this thread specifically because after living in my skinnies and straight leg jeans I wanted the right balance in my wardrobe. Besides that, one can never have enough jeans :P

fashion pendulum is swinging the other way

^ its all about choices, being 'stuck' with a particular style seems terribly boring :)

^ thanks for the article link
its about borrowing mens trousers, not particularly jeans, but i found some extracts interesting to quote here
''Boyfriend trousers'', the latest interpretation of his 'n' hers fashion, are here. These trousers are high-waisted, wide and handsome; slouchy but chic - the polar opposite of skinny jeans. This season they're popping up everywhere in pinstripe, plaid, Prince of Wales check and herringbone.

They're called boyfriend trousers because they look as if you've borrowed them from him. You know the idea: a late night at his, you can't go to work in your party frock, so you slip on a pair of his Savile Row-style worsteds, a T-shirt and your Manolos and you're ready for action.

Sort of like it but I don't know.. I am a size 24/25 in jeans, I think that I would probably drown in 'bf jeans' so to speak..
twilight fairy i agree with Lena, i'm wearing 24 in levis and diesel i have two pairs of vintage levis 501 which are 26 and 28 and they are ok for achieving similar look. You could try also kids/boys jeans - my favorite pair is from h&m size 152:lol:, which is surprisingly long enough when wearing them on hips [i'm 170cm, normally propotioned] :)

501s are not boyfriend jeans those are tapered straights, boyfriend jeans are are more straight and wide legged.

Tapered and straight are two different things. Tapered is smaller at the ankle than the knee; straight is the same width at ankle and knee.

If your boyfriend wears 501s and you wear his jeans, they are boyfriend jeans; I think the definition is a little looser than you are giving. I think the term is a general one for a pair of jeans that are cut "larger" than your normal fit, and that have a slouchy fit, for lack of a better word. :flower:

I saw this one coming after the many wide-leg trousers on the fall runways. I think it's a great CASUAL look but I'd hate to see someone try to dress boyfriend jeans up like skinnies. Personally, I don't like how usually only one look dominates denim fashion. In my closet I have boyfriend jeans, skinnies, boot-cut, straight-leg and trouser jeans. I keep rotating the shapes and I never get bored of any of them.

yeah ....and the way stores are like marketing skinny jeans is like total over kill , i mean its a nice look , but too much of anything is bad.

yeah i think fashion now a days is about choice , nots what "in" or "out",
in the late 70s , when skin tight became cool , wearing anything wide was "out" , just one look prevailed , but now a days people dress more individually and adopt different styles. Like if a person is wearing wide legs , doesnt mean they cant wear skinnies , or vice versa, you can wear two polar opposite looks in the span of 24 hours.

Most men's jeans are too large for women. I wear a size 30/31 in jeans and I think that translates into a size 9. 30 is usually the smallest many brands will go.

But these jeans only look good on very thin women.
