Christian Dior F/W 08.09 Paris

that fur coat on the wwd cover is probably one of the very few pieces i love in that collection.

soo chic that coat

Always feels good to be in the minority :D I like this collection - it's very true to Diana Vreeland's 60s, and yet, different. One thing that's probably off-putting to a lot of people is the combination of the 60s cuts and the use of very colorful accessories - in particular the hats.

I loved the make up but not one of the prints with orange and pink.... anyway I also loved that 'pata de gallo' suits!

i don't like any of this! the dresses neither look good nor well made and god knows galliano is capable of cutting a beautiful dress.

maybe it's just time to kill dior off...?

and let galliano design solely under his own name because those collections have been wonderful the last couple of seasons.

shshhhhhhhhh....maybe galliano becomes a secret assasin to kill dior...maybe someone from other fashion groups

oh no, is he copying YSL last winter Tribute bag?

I don't think it has anything to do with this at all. The accessories don't affect my opinion on the collection ( their could've been dead chickens on their head for all I care, as long as the clothing itself was beautiful ) and the 60's cuts could've been amazing had they been executed correctly. The fabrics used look entirely too bulky, and in my opinion, they don't fit the 60's vibe at all. Think about it - Tippi Hedren, Jackie Kennedy, and even Mrs.Robinson herself..what did they all have in common? 60's cuts that were perfectly tailored, refined, unassumingly sexy, and light ( as opposed to bulky ). Had John editted him self more carefully, it could've worked. Bring the waist line in here, replace a hideous pattern here, take off some embroidery, and ta da! A perfectly respectable collection. Of course, I would've appreciated an altogether different interpretation of the inspiration.

Coats, suits and shoes look nice..That's all!Dior doesnt excite me anymore..

I love that Jeremy used Dusty Springfield on the soundtrack. Hate the third song used. Little OT, but whatevs. I like that the freakish girl with the eyes opened the show.

Well, as he said, he went into the archives for the Dior heritage. The sixties is a diverse decade - some of it is bulkier, some is not.

Some of the Bohan designs:

IMO, 60s retro looks have previously had shapes along the same lines, but never in combination with the Diana Vreeland 60s color scheme. I do think the combination of the two is a little much for most.

I feel nothing while watching this collection. Seems like Dior lost it`s charismatic shine. Shows became static, theater is gone, as the beautiful and strange, but revolutionary ideas. Feel sorry for Galliano.
P.S. But the sales are on top, people actually buy this stuff. So, accents in Dior are moved from mind-blowing shows to actual buyings. Very pity, fashion holidays became Grey everyday lives.
