Model Casting F/W 09.10

The Calvin cast was such a disappointment. Raquel, Suvi, Toni, Natasha, Alyona...all who have done it several previous seasons in a row weren't there. Now this new cast could have been interesting, but it was a totally wrong collection, because those clothes were very strong and all the girls looked too young and immature wearing them. But I am sure it's beacuse of the economical situation. There weren't as many looks as before, and all the models were more affordable new faces(except Sasha, but she was there just because she's Sasha Pivovarova and no designer will do a show without her).

Yeah I think too many new faces, I love new faces and I think they should get their chance, but what made Calvin such a strong show for new models was the fact that they would debut maybe 3-5 new faces per season along with the Natasha, Raquel, Suvi's of the modeling world.

And what is CK4?? Is it Toni, Karlie, Taryn, Ali?? Funny haha

I have heard stories like that also. Specially about Prada, I have heard that Miuccia have cut girls after they are fully dressed because she doesnt like the way they look after. Which is very cruel imo.

Absolutely true. Think one of the best shows in the world, they've done that and will do it, because they can.

There needs to be a union for the models. I don't know the industry that much so I don't know if that's at all realistic, but it seems these girls get abused left and right and the agencies aren't able/willing to do anything.

I believe there is the famous case of Caroline Trentini being booted out of the Prada cast by Miss Prada herself while she was already in hair and make-up or something...Miuccia found her "too ugly"....or so say the rumours of course

Speaking of Prada, I am very curious to see the cast. I really like the cast last season and lord knows that has not always been the case. I have a feeling Ymre will open again or at least close. Actually I hope she opens, because with a booming new favorite to the house around, I don't think there is a place for someone else to open.

Omg that's completely inhuman and cruel

Reading those stories I get the same feeling, poor girls
They seem to get a lot of pressure and being treated inhuman often. How must that feel for a young personality

In a form, perhaps that is part of the appeal of using younger and younger models. How does one mobilise a bunch of 15 year olds into a union? And also models are technically self employed in a way and are hiring out the agency instead of the other way around, from what I understand. No matter how successful a model gets, her job security still seems to be at the liberty of others in some way.

There was a thread on this. Young actors (also self-employed with agents) are well protected by a union. However it was the older, well-respected actors who fought for the union.

I have also heard that the same thing happened to Lily Donaldson. After she was all dressed and ready, Miuccia didnt like the way she looked so she got booted out of the show.

Well I'll be surprised if we don't see , Jac, Karolin, Dorothea, Tabea, Hannah R, Yulia, Katlin? at Prada.. but will we see Eliza? Can't quite imagine it.. but it feels like it will happen....

actually that could be fun, who can guess the closest to the final cast, once you add in perennial favs Lara? sasha?, and campaign girls, Ymre, Toni, Sigrid etc and girls who have already done it amanda laine, Myf shepherd etc.. and guess the surprise?...exclusive..
